You know, one of the many reasons I really love this series is because it's introducing me to a lot of roguelikes that I've never heard of that look really cool!

Man Ring of Pain looks so difficult. It almost seems any RoP win would guarantee some respin or extra life

I feel like German words either sound terrifying or silly as hell, there's no in between.

@@reneschaflein7910 As a fellow German, yea, some of our words also literally don't make sense. For others reading this, to cancel something is stonieren. Why?

1:33:26 Like, from our backs? I already struggle with having my arms in a comfortable place for 8 hours of sleep, I would definitely fail to manage an additional pair of appendages

In love in the last episode bear destroys rogue likes he barely plays. And then after bragging about spelunky 2, having a quick fallout. The humility felt in the Welp that happened made me smile.

1:45:06 Just to clarify, carcinisation, or return to crab meme, is total BS The actual evolution of lobster, shrimp, and crabs is way cooler

one of the reasons crabs keep evolving, is that they have no butt! having a big ole tail to grab onto isn't quite as good

Hi Baer. I downloaded Peglin today because of this series. Beat the Dragon boss on my first run in a single ball. Then proceeded to lose the next three consecutive runs in the castle.

Biologically speaking, moulting and regrowing your limbs are terrible concepts and only work specifically cause crabs have exoskeletons, and even then, are terrible. There is so much that can go wrong with either.

Return to crab is honestly such a stupid meme. No, crabs aren't the optimal life form, not even close. They had to evolve amphibious lungs 3 seperate times over their entire species history millions of years ago whereas the first descendants of the lungfish that crawled onto land basically got it right once and from there on could just live on land, and then, crabs still need to stay moist to even breathe air! Depending on what traits you need to consider something perfect, the actual perfect optimal lifeform is the Tardigrade, or Water Bear, the tiny 6 legged microscopic invertebrate that can basically survive boiling (for like up to a minute, not that you should ever boil something so cute to find out how long it can survive) freezing completely (for up to a year or two), withstand the vacuum of space for like 3 minutes, and be bisected vertically and potentially regenerate. Also, I think they can survive in highly acidic environments and complete desication as well, however, your existence is basically just a motile stomach with a few nerves, eating and mating and only vaguely being aware of the environment around you. Runner-ups are amoeba, bacteria, and jellyfish, and viruses if you even quallify them as living things, I don't.

Flying, but your arms transform into some type of fleshy bat wing, bones and all, and turn back to normal once you land. Would you still do it? EDIT: Since that's where the conversation goes a few minutes later anyway, in order for Humans to naturally evolve wings, first off, we are the completely wrong species. I don't want to pop Baer's bubble, since it's a cool concept and a fun talking point, but learning about why it wouldn't work can also be fun. We would have had to evolve directly from rodents, not primates for starters. Secondly, all animals with wings, bats particularly since they are the only naturally flying mammals, have wings to get food. And on the type of diet those animals have, we would have never gotten to where we are now, the discovery of how to harness fire and our omnivorous palate are like 50% of how we got to where we are now. Thirdly, and I think this is the biggest one, is that dinosaurs, and by extension birds, kinda cheated. Look at it this way: Before the dinosaurs, hell, the first land dwelling proper animals, was insects, the giant ones, and even they were stuck on the ground for the longest time before they evolved their wing membranes. Up to that point there was literally nothing airborne. Once the atmosphere changed and insects got smaller, and after a pair of mass extinction events and animals finally got on land, there was still only flying insects. It isn't actually till much later that small dinosaurs begin to start developing hovering and flight to catch bugs, which turns into the whole group of pterodactyls, which do end up getting massive, IIRC Quetzocatl was like 30' standing with 60' wings or some shit, but even it had hollow bones and only ate fish, and much like the modern day Albatross, spent most of its life flying. TL;DR Dinosaurs filled the niche early, and when they basically evolved and refined into birds, they kept that niche full. So, even if there was some way, there would be waaayyy too much competition, especially since those feathered fucks had a few million year head start.
