Hi Mo... New housing is everywhere and with the HS2 the canal is quickly becoming a building site, hope you're both well

@@GaryCaptainPhillips Hi Gary about the weather conditions .. Take a look at Richard vobes you tube channel . The truth about chemtrails from pilots .??? I think that you will find it very interesting...if not a little frightening.???
I screamed too as you went under the waters but I have to admit I still laughed when poor Nicky came out at the end - sorry Nicky!

We got soaked !
good vid cranking it on new water with frends keep it cranked on the cut nice place you cranking in lot of boats nice tunnel nice place you moored up at with frends thanks lee
I remember them doing the work on the tunnel, it cause a blockage for a long time as they drained the canal and were driving large construction vehicles into the tunnel. I remember the new section with the rubbing strips makes it easier to pass other boats . thanks for the great memories.

Hi Peter, that must of been great to see, it certainly aids navigation through the tunnel but it's always nicer to see the old bricks though
A lovely vlog enjoyed the trip through the tunnel. Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks for the mention, I'll show Elaine 🙂

Its my pleasure and thank you so very much Vic. We had a lovely meal and we even had ice cream later too
Lovely journey Great trip through the tunnel!!! Next tunnel close your eyes for 3-5 minutes before you go in. Open your eyes and you can see in the dark! Pirate patches weren't always for covering wounds. It was so they could see when needed in the dark. Thank you for your hard work and beautiful videos. ❤

Lol we might try that. Yes the pirate patches were so they had clear vision for using their telescopes
The boat with N Hingley Netherton on it was far from home ,Hingley's is where the chain and anchor for the Titanic was made , Netherton is my home town in the heart of the black country and I grew up about 3 minutes from Noah Hingleys .

I've seen photos of the Titanic anchor chains, it's unbelievable how thick it is

@@GaryCaptainPhillips There's a full size replica of one of the anchors in the town , when you stand next to it it towers over you , all made with muscle and sweat no fancy computers etc .
Hi everyone on Chugs I have photographed The Red Arrows many times at Airshow's on the Northwest coast of the UK.

Thank you so very much Gary !
My old dad was for many years a boatbuilder and would have had a hand in building similar craft as shown at 13:10. It is in sad shape to be sure but it is still afloat. It looks like it has been partially stripped already.

Its always nice to see them getting restored, both Nicky and myself would love one
There is a good depiction of a couple legging a boat through Blisworth in the old film “Painted boats “ What a soaking!l thought Shrewly was bad 😂

We have that film on the boat, love it !
the sooty walls and roof were cleaned by tunnel brushes like the one we saw on Noah's channel - Noah on a Narrowboat

Yes they were, funny little things they were too
Lovely to see Stoke Bruerne again ..used to live nearby Hope you enjoyed your showers 😂
A lovely vlog to watch early in the morning 😊. Nicky, your squeals when the water was splashing on you was making me smile/giggle, it was if you where on a fairground ride, I’m sure it didn’t feel like that though 😂. Enjoy the rest of journey to London, Sue x

Hi Sue, that water is so cold and it seems to get through your clothes too hehe
GG says woof to Lily. Noah and the six puppies
The outlets have formed mineral growths, quasi stalagmites if you will,in that tunnel.
A small wooden boat could be worked on as a leisure boat for Noah and Lily perhaps in a few years.
@GaryCaptainPhillips

It certainly could do, id love to have one
are there different property owners on the other side of the canal who need to get to the other side to access shops or buses on the mooring side by row boat?
@GaryCaptainPhillips
Ай бұрын
Yes there are Terence, we see little rowing boats quite a bit now
Not much to see? Well, I guess that depends on your interests. One of the Professors at the University I worked at was a birder (bird-watcher) and could identify the most nondescript LBB (little brown bird) from a great distance AND tell you if it was male or female! He's long retired now (as am I) and lost most of his hearing but not his eyesight! A geomorphologist could read volumes in the landscapes you travel through as could historical geographers. There can be little of the country that has not been modified by previous inhabitants and one can hardly dig up a garden, flowerbed or farmer's field without finding bits from WWII all the way back to when there was no English Channel and humans could walk to what is now Great Britain! Quite often, narrowboat vloggers use drones and these often show hints of ancient usage of the fields below. Even just reading about the names of the various narrowboats or the villages one passes by can be entertaining and educational. One is only truly old when one ceases to learn. "

I love learning and indeed I do everyday. Nicky is very knowledgeable when it comes to Birdsong and tree & plant identification. I agree with everything you say but it's difficult to talk about such things when your cruising. The scenery changes with every turn and the trees etc can block the views, even at 3mph its difficult as I have to film and steer the boat. I think what I mainly was saying that there was very little canal buildings etc as that's what I like to explore

@@GaryCaptainPhillips I do enjoy seeing the old industrial buildings that have been renovated. There are so many standing vacant and derelict. Some are well past being repurposed. Removing hazardous materials from these old sites is always a costly concern prior to renovations.
You didn't fancy soaping up and having a boater's shower in Blissworth Tunnel? 🤣
