They could do this style of game with so many IP's and it would work incredibly well. A lot of animes that typically have a fighting game already linked to them would do well with a beat-em-up. Superhero franchises would be successful as well

I'm 31 this is perfect and immediately took me back to being a kid playing this on the weekend with my brother. Couch Co-op is a sorely lacking genre in games today an 6 players on screen at one time with my cousins is definitely something I look forward to. 9.5/10 I wish it had an extra mode or two with some extra mini games or for a Mario party element but I adore it

As a 44 year old, I enjoyed playing the old NES games and watching the original cartoons and movies. I can't wait to play this and The Cowabunga Collection when it comes out. By the way, Leonardo has always been my favorite turtle.

I'm 43 and I'm right there with you. The late 80's through the Mid 90's had some awesome games and entertainment. I always liked Raphael and I had all the action figures. Wish I still had them they would be worth some money.

As an older gamer, this game speaks right to me. I lost countless hours of my early teens in arcades playing the original Turtles arcade game and many other side scrolling beat-em ups like The Simpsons, Double Dragon, Final Fight, etc, etc, etc. I'm definitely gonna purchase this one ASAP so me and my nephew can play together.

These characters and enemies made me remember good old times. I played the TMNT game during famicon period, where there was no save and 2hrs long. Looking forward to this game

Raphael has always been my favorite, and I enjoyed leveling him up to ten on my first(nonstop) play through of the game. Finding all the collectibles throughout the game adds a personalized touch each time you pick one up. Some of the collectibles even give a throwback to the old series and the goofy moments that made the show fun.

I have fond memories of playing TMNT: back in time on the SNES with my Aunt before she past away. It’s nice to see the classic arcade style coming back. Maybe someone else out there can be as lucky as I was to have such a wonderful teammate.

40 years young in a few months and side scrolling beat em ups will always be my first love. Since I first saw this announced I was super excited and after watching this even more so. Looks fantastic the team really seem to take pride in their games. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Fantastic channel as always. Peace.

Such a blast from the past! I remember playing these TMNT arcade games with my brother when I was younger and having so much fun. Ahh, nostalgia wins again, they can take my money. I’m getting copies for me and my bro, both PS & Switch, so stoked!

This was always a day one purchase for me. I was on Steam at about 3am and was like “Oh, yeah! Turtles comes out today.” I couldn’t get it that early, and I almost forgot later that day. Played through the campaign on normal. Game definitely captures the nostalgia from the games we played back in the day. I know there is arcade mode, but I wish there was an additional mode like a boss rush or something. Either way the game is fun. I really like the music too.

How much game is there, though? Can you just finish the game the first time you sit for 2 hours with it or does it take several attempts? It looks great but for the price I'd like to have more than 2-3hours from start to finish (especially as I won't be able to resell the digital version)

@@flavoredwallpaper I think we'd enjoy the gameplay, but for example I was disappointed when I got to play Metal SLug (which I had known only from arcades) on a console. The ability to just endlessly CONTINUE killed any challenge and also revealed how painfully short it is. I have no problem with a short game, if, for example, a "lives" limit means you need several attempts to learn it and finally get from start to finish on your Xth try. But if a game is short but allows you unlimited CONTINUEs or just has checkpoints, it may be not worth my money.

@@robertchmielecki2580 There is an "arcade mode" where it's very traditional: you have limited lives and go from level to level until you beat the game or it beats you. And there is also a "story mode" where you have unlimited lives and there are some other features, like a world map, some collectables/challenges, etc. I think this game was made by people who truly loved the old-school tmnt arcade game, so they had people like you in mind when they made it.

Such an awesome and genuine love letter to those of us that lost endless time - and quarters - in the arcades to this and other side scrolling beat ‘em ups!! I’m a few levels in and living every second of it! 🐢🐢🐢🐢 Turtle Power!!!

I saved all my quarters and got a SNES as a kid.

TMNT the original arcade game was one of my absolute favourites back when I was a kid and that machine got all my quarters. I always picked Raphael. He had the shortest weapon range, but he had that sweet roll attack move. This game looks like it will perfectly scratch that nostalgia itch.

That one is my favourite arcade ever, it was so loud! I remmember listening the explosions as soon as I got in the arcade; I personally went for reach with Donatello, but one of my brothers used Raphael and was the better player.

What a great game. Played it last night with a bunch of friends (we're in our 30's, and my 9 year old nephew), and couldn't stop playing until we beat it. Lost it when I heard the Wu-Tang track, and I couldn't stop laugh as Raph through out. Good times.

Shredders Theme is the very definition of a True BANGER, I hooked up my speakers and my whole family was like.. WHO IS THAT!? Wu-Tang mfs! I let them watch the fight my teenage son was like that's actually dope, the music alone is way better than I ever imagined... 12 / 10 beyond perfect game!

REALLY can't say enough good things about this love letter of a game. They even made real songs with lyrics, just for the game. And yes, this game thrives on multiplayer. This game is a joy to play. My favorite turtle is Casey, lol.

this game brings back memories... bought it yesterday, finished story mode in about 2 hours and a half un hard mode, not the longest game but boy is it fun. I recommend playing it with a couple friends if you really want to have some good times...

Will buy it asap! Remember it from the NES and loved Donatello the most.

SNES, the only NES turtles game even close to this on nes was turtles 3 manhattan project.

Great review. The "up and down" distance thing you mentioned where you couldn'talways hit your enemy: Check if your characters' feet are aligned with your enemy.

One of my biggest issues with beat em ups. Having to focus on aligning your character when the camera is pitched and not top down is kind of jarring. It's a weird in between of 2D and top down. I think lowering the pitch of the camera and allowing for diagonal movement would be better in general. The visuals would suffer though I guess.

This has to be the best "before you buy" thumbnail. ONG!!! Nostalgia on one thousand!!!

I just played it with 6 people! It was utter chaos and I loved it.

This game is simply awesome! I am 42 years old and felt like a kid again in the arcade spending a bag of quarters on a saturday morning at the old mall that is now demolished. Love the game! Especially the story mode add in! Nice touch! They really should make some more games like this. I hope they do another with all the turtle games in it. Remastered or remade. God I'd love that! @@prodigy84bg arcade if you're a old school beat'em up player like me. It just hits you just right. They got it all right. Plus it gives you that euphoria of being a kid again in the arcade wishing that your NES could have graphics and music like this. This is why you save your quarters or ask mom for some extra so you can spend it on this. Story mode isn't bad at all either. It's really nice and fresh! Gives you that TMNT NES vibe of driving around New York. Or even Dick Tracy or Roger Rabbit above driving nostalgia. Go where you want. Do missions out of order. Side quests. Replay ability really shines here.

Great game, we need more couch coops like this. I have 3 kids ranging from 7 to 17 and we all could sit down, play and enjoy this.

I wasn’t even born when these old beat ‘em ups came out lol so I’m excited to try this out.

Same but have played the old streets of rage (still need to play 4) on mobile and a few KOF/Random mobile beat em ups but this takes the cake didn't play hyper heist or turtles in time but know of them and Shredders Revenge sure looks to be a successor one of my most anticipated games of 2022.

This brings back so many great childhood memories. You definitely had to be there, but it's a nostalgic feeling for us 80s babies and a new thing for those new to the turtles.

Played through the whole game as soon as it downloaded. Such a nostalgic feeling!

This takes me back to the good old days playing the old style arcade machines for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Can't wait to pick this one up.

Very excited about this one. I was born 91 so these games definitely take me back to my early gaming days. Be a good game for parents to play with their kids too.

I spent so many quarters on that game. It was the main reason why I wanted the super nintendo.

I’ve been looking forward to this game for months. I would go to so many arcades growing up and my go to was Ninja Turtles cabinet. Or I would say The Simpson cabinet. We need more beat ‘em up games like this. If they did X-men or a Batman beat ‘em up would be amazing!

This game popped up on my ps news feed and I was instantly hooked. Takes me back to being a kid and playing games like this on one keyboard with my friends love it!

In the town my mom and I were in when I was a little kid, there was a skating rink that had a TMNT arcade game. I played it as much as I could, but kind of forgot about it over the years. When I saw this game it brought back so many memories.

The Arcade game is my favorite Turtles game, and this looks great. After getting destroyed by the dam level in the original NES level, it was nice to play a TMNT game that was just unadulterated fun. Glad to hear this new one is good. Got it on my wishlist.

I'm so hyped for this, and the reviews across the board seem great. Even though I'm a gamepass user I've bought this to show the love. Hopefully we get more sequels and I'll buy them too.

I'm so glad to hear that they put the right amount of love into this. Growing up with this as a kid brings back some of the best memories from playing this in the arcade and Nintendo. I am for sure going to pick this up and play with some friends!

Love this game so much. Its so freaking fun to just keep replaying. This for sure took the top spot for best turtles game to date. Close second Turtles In Time. Ralph is my favorite but I think I actually have the more fun being Mikey. Love his throwback taunt as well

I didn’t grow up with arcade games but I love beat ‘em ups. I’ve only played a few levels but so far I’m loving the game. Very well done

I remember these games being in actual arcade cabinets where pizza places actually had arcade rooms or arcade parlors had hundreds of arcade cabinets where I’d spend hours on hours playing at. Ninja turtles was always the one that always drew my attention and always had random people jumping in and dumping a few quarters with me. Never did beat that game til I found a mod on my computer years later. The old Super Nintendo ninja turtle games were along the same vein of gameplay and it’s always been fun. This looks like more of the same and now there’s 6 player coop? Me and my kiddos are gonna have so much fun when I induce them with some good ole nostalgia.

I used to play Turtles in Time with my late Uncle and late Grandpa. Honest to god, probably 100 play throughs with each of the turtles lol. The turtles are timeless, man. I'm picking this up to play with my son.

This reminds me so much of the awesome Scott Pilgrim beat em up from the early 2010s! One of my favorites, I'll have to check this out too!

I never grew up with TMNT, but I've always loved playing games involving them, especially the beat them up ones.

I already have it pre-loaded on Xbox. I can't wait. I'm a huge Turtles fan and I've been wanting a new TMNT game for so long. Also can't wait for the cowabunga collection too!

Loved playing the original arcade as a kid, me and my son played this yesterday and loved every minute of it, its damn good fun and a great nostalgia trip.

This game is beyond radical dude! Absolutely one of my most anticipated titles of 2022 and straight to Gamepass is even better still will end buying it just to support the development and sheer passion put into it. I'm a newer TMNT Fan 03-12 era but love the franchise and a "beat em up" game that builds on Turtles in Time and the other one Hyper Heist or something like that even I can see how fantastic this is, Shredders Revenge really captures the magic and feel of those titles extremely well done. The animations, roster that I would have been completely satisfied with the 4 turtles but that April reveal made me realise my complete stupidity having more characters in this case is far better she looks siiick and I like the take on her jumpsuit, splinter looks OP as he should and CASEY JONES looks really fun to play the environments/interactive backgrounds, Sound effects and soundtrack are amazing can't wait to play with the world's most fearsome fighting team cowabunga indeed booyakasha! XD SO EXCITED Especially for 6 player co-op online and local hell yeah.

@@drer6405 Microsoft cuts them a check for putting in game pass, but it's probably not as much as they would make if every person just bought the game outright. A huge part of gamepass is exposure. Someone tries it for free, likes it, spreads the word, then the person purchases the game when they may not have before their gamepass friend said anything

I have the gamepass one, digital on switch and I wanna get the collectors ps4 version from limited run

I have fond memories playing these side-scrolling TMNT games all the way back to the original Gameboy. I had no idea this was coming out but now I'm pumped!

This game is amazing! It really took me back to when I played the older games as a kid. I literally sat and played this for almost a whole day on my first time. Another classic beat em hit just like Streets of Rage 4. I just hope they keep making games like these and they don't die out like they did before.

Played it and finished the story mode the day it was released. My, what a lotta fun! Especially in co-op where you can definitely have a lot of fun, you really feel the arcade vibe out of it. The soundtrack is really well done, so is the voice acting. Dotemu did a solid good job once again, definitely a studio that I'll keep following. As for my favorite character, I found that April really nails it. She's fast and easy to control.

I’m so pleased everyone is loving this! While I’m not much of a brawler game girl but it’s definitely going In my game collection along with Scott Pilgrim, Streets of Rage & River City Girls.

Super looking forward to it, used to play the SNES one with my dad when I was like 7 years old. I don't usually buy into nostalgia hype, but this one seems legit good

I can't wait to play this. I haven't been excited to play a new game in a while, but this looks so fun.

I was 5 when the TMNT cartoon originally came out and I'm very excited for the Cowabunga Collection so I can play all those old NES, SNES, Sega, Gameboy and arcade games on my xbox but in the mean time this game scratches that old school itch...its really good IMO

I always check out your opinions in "Before You Buy" videos when they are available regarding a game i'm wanting. I love that you had almost nothing negative to say about this game. Just good things throughout. The fact you mentioned April and Casey are playable characters (as an afterthought) and the fact I saw Tokka and Razaar from TMNT 2, as well as Leatherhead from the 80's character. I think the makers definitely catered to fans of the old school in this one and I can't wait to play/buy.

This is sick! Would love to see more games remade. Like judge dread

Splinter has always been my favorite. I'm glad to see he's playable.

Love this so far, I remember plunking quarter after quarter into this machine when I was a kid. This new version is everything the old one was and more! Fav turtle was always Mike but Leo is my fav in the game

Played a lot of Turtles in Time as a kid at the arcade. I went into this one weary and worried about if it would hold up to that... I was not disappointed!! This game is super fun!

At 33 this hits all the nostalgia. Def buying this one

So good to see a mostly positive "Before you Buy", especially on a game that I had high hopes for. And hands down Leonardo is the best, man. Probably one of my favorite side scrollers on the original NES. Thanks for posting this one, the nostalgia was real.

DEFINITELY a must!!! Grew up playing and watching this stuff and I’ll tell ya with everything that’s out there and up coming I absolutely did NOT expect to see another Turtles game!! This is amazing stuff and I very much appreciate you guys doing this video!! Have always been a Mikey fan BTW!! 😜 This was the second of ur videos I’ve watched, the first was just the new PS Plus video and at the end of it I noticed this one so I had to see it!! I smashed the like button on both and right after this one played I subscribed to all!!! 👍🏼 2 thumbs wayyy up 👍🏼🤩😎🤓

Gonna be honest here. I wasn't born around the late 80s/90s era. But that doesn't mean I couldn't experience the goated tmnt arcade beat em ups. I'm an 03 kid, but I was still able to experience the greatness of the classic arcade game. (My dad would take me to the nearest arcade and they had it there, thank god) And this game looks hype as hell!! Definitely gonna play this first thing when I wale up tomorrow.

I'm playing this with my two sons and wifey. It's just so much fun. Seeing the turtles again like this is like reuniting with my old friends.

This is such a great game, it’s so much more fun with friends or even just randos online. The crossplay is a HUGE plus. I’m having a blast, and I really wish my uncle was still in my life enough to play this with me, he was the one who turned me onto Turtles In Time when I was young and that was my favorite TMNT game.

I’m just impressed that after all these years and pizzas eaten, those turtles are still cut and laying waste to baddies. I have not aged nearly as gracefully since I was a kid in the mid-80’s, and I didn’t eat nearly as much pizza.

With it coming to game pass day 1, I know I'm gonna give it a go. So excited!

I used to get into fights with my cousin to get my turn playing TMNT. It may be nostalgia, but I’m playing this again.

Growing up with the TMNT 90s cartoons as well as the constant watching of the live action movies, I was so happy with all the villains as well as the sly inclusion of Tokar and Razar :). The funny part is, I took the 16th off to get my car repaired and play another game that was coming out that day (Redout 2). I didn't hear about this until the day before while I was waiting for Redout 2 for over a month. Come the 16th, I ended up spending most of my gaming time playing this game. Besides Dark Souls, this is the only game in my decades of gaming that I actually want to do challenges on. Also, Doni is always the best turtle.

I was born in 87, so I really feel nostalgic about this. What a time!
