car foam mod on case (5mm)
tempest / tape mod (2.5 layers)
durock stabilizers clipped and lubed
tape modded and added PE foam on spacebar to make it sound deeper, less hollow and less high pitched-sounding (i find that the AKKO spacebars sound poppy and have a ping noise)
erased the legends next to the dial with eraser and acetone
thoughts:
i didnt run into any issue with building w / the tm680. it was easy to disassemble but you need to put in some force when opening the case. its light at first but after adding foam it became very heavy. maybe 5mm is too thick but i had to flatten the foam a little bit to fit it in the case. the durock stabilizers fit tightly on the board so i didnt feel the need to bandaid mod it any longer. the stock stabilizers are alright and come pre-clipped but there is a slight rattle that can be heard quite clearly when compared to the durock ones. its my first time using ASA profile and i must say it does take some time getting used to, they feel really high and i feel like ill need to buy a wrist rest for added support. if you want to achieve a "deep thoccy sound" i suggest to not buy an akko keycaps, they are more poppy than thocky. maybe its the profile, but i found that xda's produce a deeper sound than ASA profile from my experience. nevertheless i still liked how it turned out and typing on it feels like melting butter and irl it sounds like getting all your bones cracked at the chiropractor- unbelievably satisfying. ♡
