Lyrics:
Remember when we said goodbye
I wiped my tears, you didn't cry
We both said things we didn't mean
Reaching for the hope, but caught between the screams
And I would try to calm you down
But you wouldn't listen
And now I find you're not around
And its your love I'm missin'
Louder than love
Louder than love
That's what we were, we were
Louder than love
And we couldn't make things better
Louder than love
Louder than love
that's what we were, we were
Louder than love
And we couldn't stay together
If we could both go back in time
Back to the days when you were mine
We vowed to try, but who's to say
That the love we shared would ever be the same
Maybe someday we'll both learn
Just how fragile love is
The mind forgets, while the heart still burns
As it longs for your kiss
Louder than love
Louder than love
That's what we were, we were
Louder than love
And we couldn't make things better
Through the things that we said
And the dreams that we shared, love stayed
(We never let it fade)
But we both went too far
We're both left with the scars of love
Oh, oh, oh
Now we must go our separate ways, my love
Oh,
Louder than love
Louder than love
That's what we were, we were
Louder than love
And we couldn't make things better

Not all, some of today’s kids know this music-- I’ve noticed some parents have instilled this music to their children, either by force or coincidence. Some admire it, so that’s what will keep this music alive in yeses to come. It doesn’t lose its popularity, I think mainly because of the love passion and lyrics that come from Latin music and other influences that indulge in love, desire and deception.

We was the last generation that was life
I grew up in Jersey and the station back then playing freestyle music in heavy rotation was hot 103 which later turned to Hot 97. I was priviledged enough to live thru these amazing times in the 80's and early 90's when dance music was on fire. I remember clubs like levels, emerald city, paladium, foxes (Jersey city), Chicago's (Lodi, nj), limelight, the tunnel, paradise garage, roxy just to name a few. Freestyle was not only big in NJ/NYC but it was huge in Miami (Power 96), Chicago (B96) and other cities in the bay area like San Jose and San Francisco(KMEL) as well. Also in Texas as well cities like San Antonio. Freestyle music is American music that was created in the USA just like Rock, Hip hop, folk, punk rock, r&b and so forth. We can all enjoy it as well as the rest of the world it does not matter your ethnicity or race.

Yup and KMEl and Wild playing freestyle back in the 80’s and 90’s and the San Francisco Bay Atea repping ! And Master mixer DJ Cameron Paul doing his incredible mixes, when many other djs around the country at that time time were slamming their mixes. When he mixed flawlessly and went from one song to another and everyone was like dang how the hell did he do that. Many bc of Cameron Paul out here in SF wanted to be like him and he alone out here influence many to become a dj back then and was like the godfather of djing. RIP DJ Cameron Paul

Puerto Ricans really left a mark with Latin Freestyle the ones that put heartthrob on the map. Most of them are Puerto Rican......the list goes on. I forgot tho Johnny O is Puerto Rican and Dominican. Born and raised in Naguabo Puerto Rico then we moved to Chicago in the early 80's I will never forget "WGCI BMX" Radio station the birth of House music in Chicago Friday night and Saturday night mixes us going to stores to buy cassettes to record or re record over cassettes we already had. Then the early introduction of Latin Freestyle "Heartthrob" what a time to be part of this. 🌴🌺🌴🌺🌴🌺🌴🇵🇷🇵🇷🌬️
