TJ Hunt's GT-R Powered Mustang From Fast and FURIOUS | Larry Chen-Capturing Car Culture - Ep 3
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It’s hard to chase a dream unless you really put your mind to it. Whether it’s to become a doctor or, in TJ Hunt’s case, an automotive KZreadr, nothing is ever going to be easy. As the famous saying goes,”it’s easier said than done”. With just a camera, his BRZ, and his dashing smile, TJ created an empire out of nothing. Today, we dive into the life of this Southern California native and why he decided to do something so sacrilege: swapping an RB26 into a Mustang.

Have you ever considered trying to ask HOONIGAN/Ken Block anything about modifying a 65 Mustang? He's kind of *THE* guy for that particular car. And he made his 65 Mustang (the legendary "Hoonicorn") All-Wheel Drive, too. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for yours to be AWD with that comparatively small RB26 engine in there (the Hoonicorn has a 6.7L Twin-Turbo Roush V8). It's physically *possible*, so... Also you should totally put a late-60's "GT-R" badge (from the C10 GT-R) in your Mustang's grille.
@j.d.8593
Жыл бұрын
@@SigTheSauceMan The only thing the Hoonicorn has from a real Mustang is a metal roof skin, everything else on that car is a fully custom made racecar, nothing done to that car would apply to a normal car and the AWD system is derived from a rally car, some people really don't think before commenting and knowing what they are talking about....
Thanks, Larry, for outstanding content over and over again. I am a 73-year-old Mustang enthusiast (own 5 including a 1967 FB), and I am fully supportive of what TJ has done with this build. Sometimes you just need to step out from the crowd and create.

I love that you own one and support this. I know some think it’s sacrilegious. However I’m of the mindset that engines are a bit like legos. They can be mixed and matched to make something incredibly unique and equally as fun! Cheers to you mate!

Bro just to have Larry and Tj together is ridiculous to legends I met Larry years ago at a car meet Krispy media and everyone was there Larry was the most melo coolest guy literally was apart of the crowd dope video
This is like the extreme version of what I'd love to build some day, a 1979 Mustang, with an NA RB25 running RB26 ITBs. My first car was a '79 with a 200ci inline-6, and I'd like to revisit it, but with a straight-6 that will have more support, tunability, and power.

@@sureyeah3678 It definitely used to be hated on, in large part because people didn't like that it didn't have any of the original cast. It has always been one of my favorites, because besides the original it seemed to be the most car focused one in plot, as drifting was an actual plot point. I think people's minds started changing on it as the later films in the franchise became more generic action movies with some cars thrown in simply to try and tie it into the franchise.

@@BariLopesh Yes, because you are the one who determines what an "actual mechanical enthusiast" can like and enjoy. While I agree the franchise has become terrible, not all of it is. I’ve never really watched hagerty videos . But having Larry Chen do this series has gained you a subscriber . Keep up the good work
440 HP is plenty of power to have fun with.
Don´t ever let yourself get questioned by anyone on this build, TJ! Your attitude is far better for everyone than all those collectors who lock the most amazing machines away never to do what they were made for! 👍
SO stoked to see Larry Chen and his continued success & absolutely deserves it all!! * This is also why I continue to have Hagerty for my classic car insurance, always supporting the scene / community.
can't stop won't stop Larry Chan thank you so much for your amazing content I'm always looking forward to your next video.

This is the best one of the series yet! Hagerty, if you’re listening, more Larry Chen please! I’ve been following Larry’s content for a few years now and I cannot understate how much excitement this series brings me. Simply put, Larry is the best collaboration since Hagerty started working with Jason Cammisa.

Love the build overall! Here in Australia there have been a few restomodded with the Ford Australia “Barra” inline 6. The only aesthetic thing is the front wheels for me. If they where the same as the back it would look better, but obviously rim offset for brakes and suspension was needed. Great series Larry! I had a chuckle about the Hotwheels.
This is one of the best combos ever. Best of both worlds. So unique, this could be one of my dream cars.
Hello Larry as always great coverage and Prestation, and Editing to your content. I am a Mustang guy and at 1st seeing Carroll Shelby's Signature, and a Frankenstein Resto Mod with an RB32 SkyLine Engine it was appalling. Though, since it's not just a Tribute to Carroll Shelby, but also, to Tokyo Drift Fans and since Sung Kang Challenged him I'd say Cool 3 Weeks ago Bought my 3rd Mustang it was the only White 2022 Mustang Available in all of California, with the Proper 3rd Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission. It's a 2022 Roush Mustang Serial Number : 22.0001.450R and couldn't be happier. Thanks Larry for all the great Memories 🧑🏻🦱👍🏻🏎️🏁⛰️🌲
You are doing Gods work. In Jackson, Ohio, there is a 1965 or '66 baby Blue Mustang for sale. The body is cleannnnn. It's waiting for someone to come along and pick it up

"The car is still on the road......." best quote.
What an awesome car! 👌 im thrilled to see this car not just as a Tokyo Drift fan. But as someone who likes seeing world colliding, An Rb makes an iconic noise and a Mustang has an iconic image 👏 👌
I don't care what these two guys say...... they are both legends in the car industry. Nothing will change that. The print has been made.
Very nice, Thank you for sharing a different take on a resto-mod with JDM influences. Also, the car culture of a movie car. I do not know the numbers, But I would like to say more than half of first gen Mustangs came with a straight six engine. Just without the horsepower of a RB26.

Nice documentation, definitely a kool ride, tho that exhaust note is a chuckle, considering my wife loves the sound of the old PPG pace car mustang, lol! Thanx for the angle & reporting !!
