I just got the T200 Tuesday. Hit a bunch of irons at the PGS Superstore in Birmingham, Al. Kept coming back to the T200. I'm 58 and was punching the 7 iron to avg of 170. I don't have the best swing yet, but ball speed was avg of 105. I just started playing again a month ago after 14yr break, so IMO not too bad. I was using my Adams Tight Lies from 2006, so I've already gained about 15+ yds with the T200. FYI.... don't get so caught up in the numbers! We're not robots. Get fitted, find "your" best club!

Great review! I recently got fitted for player distance irons. I’m 52 and had both hips replaced in the last 10 years. I’m a 7 handicap and don’t really have an issue with hitting the ball square. But, due to my physical limitations and chronic pain, consistency is lacking, as well as distance! Currently playing Callaway CF16 Apex (4-7) and Apex Pro (8-PW). The P790s were high on my list along with the PXG 0311P, Apex line, Mizuno MP20 HMB and JPX921 lines, and the Srixon ZX-5 (or 7 - whichever the player distance one is). My needs were: 1. Distance, 2. Feel, 3. More height (was hitting my apex 6 iron around 65 feet), and lastly, 4. Landing angle (was coming in at 41 with the Apexes). After trying all the above with different shaft combos, etc…none were a major improvement…I tried the T200 and BOOM, surprisingly good feel (even with the different sound), nice distance improvement (about 8 yards over my previous set), and my apex and landing angle improved to just over 80 feet and 45 degrees. So, ordered the T200 irons, 6-gap wedge. Just waiting for them to be assembled and delivered…estimated arrival 24 September. I can’t say anything bad about the performance of the 790s except that they didn’t give me the numbers I needed. I think they are better looking than the T200s.

One question on the dispersion diagrams using these shots as an example. Why is the white circle of the T200s so much wider left to right, even though there are no shots way out to the right where the right side of the circle is? shouldn’t that circle be narrower? There is 15 yards of space to the right of the farthest right shot and almost 10 yards left of the farthest left shot? Why? The P790 left and right sides seems more snug up to the left and right most shots?

Just had a fitting at Precision Golf. I really liked both clubs based on looks, but had a slight preference for the T200 prior to the fitting. For me however, the 790's were a much better fit, tighter dispersion and slightly longer

Same here 🙌 I try to T200..they're good irons but wasn't the feel or distance that I was looking for. P790 gave that feel and distance and soft feel on the face.

Same here. Thought I was sold on T200, but same expletive as the other two comments

Went into my fitting with a preference for the p790 and Mizuno pro 225, but after hitting dozens of balls with 6 different iron setups, the t200 was a done deal. Now I wait 6 weeks for delivery. 😭 I recommend everyone go get a proper fitting as your own personal feel will vary.

Got fitted for my 21' P790's love them!

I’m an okay ball striker w mid to low handicap. I DO need the distance these days, so what do guys think of the Cobra Forged Tec, I’ve never hit them but looking at the lofts they are definitely strong. Have you already done a 2k20 Cobra Forged Tec iron review

great vid, I tested these with the i210s and bought the i210s at your Scottsdale store w Nippon 105 S because the i210s won on feel, sound, spin and dispersion , winner winner for me

T200 were the most consistent irons I’ve played in my life. 30 shots all within 2.5 yards of eachother distance wise

How is the turf interaction with both of these irons? And which felt better?

You guys mislabeled the P790 and T200 on the downward view comparison of the two clubs

I got the P790 with the KBS graphite max shafts that promote more spin and launch. I love them.

You should work on the reason why you can't get the launch. Once you swing the club properly those shafts will do more harm than good.

I am getting P790 with Graphite shafts. Mitsubishi MMT or KBS, I have had some tendon injuries and maybe less vibration will help. Do you notice less vibration ?

I'm waiting for the my P790's to get delivered, and I'm so excited

what happens for the 14 to 18 hcp. I hit my old taylormade RAC LT 7 iron 155 to 160 but now i am 50. Like a little more forgiveness but don't necessarily want to go to game improvement iron but would like it to be just maybe a little easier in the 7,6,5 irsons.

I was custom fit this April at your Delaware store for 2019 T200’s. I bought a “used “ set off the wall. Amazing they were as close to new as possible. Looks like the original owner must’ve hit a few balls and traded them in. Got 4-GW (48 deg). Best feeling irons ever. And the forgiveness is amazing. I played about a dozen rounds with them. Never compared them to P790’s but I guess I should’ve out of curiosity. Extremely happy with my custom fit experience with Tom H he’s a great fitter. Took 2 trips from Staten Island NY nearly 2 hours drive to get the right setup. 1/2 in short, 1 deg flat and a couple of times to get the right midsize WINN grips !

Have you ever notice when someone trades T100- 100s or T200 clubs in for something else …they always keep the GW ….it’s my go to club also.

Got an iron fitting yesterday. Came down to choosing between these two clubs, ended up going with p790s because I had 10 extra yards with them and tighter dispersion and just felt the p790s gave me some more room to make a mistake and not completely suffer for it lol

Have my first ever iron fitting scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Definitely going to look at the p790s, t200s, and Ping i59s

I ended up getting fit for the Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metal Pros - They were the most consistent by far. I will also note for all the golfers who have never been custom fit. I always felt like my swing was slow and short so I self diagnosed my own fitting and purchased used Ping i200s with 70g regular flex graphite shafts earlier this year. Well I was way off, according to the Mizuno swing tool, my swing was actually 86mph and although my swing is short I generate a lot of torque. I was fitted for Project X LZ 6.5 Extra stiff shafts. I was literally swinging the complete opposite of what I should have been. GO GET CUSTOM FIT!!!!

@@BabaGanoush64 Good luck! I ended up going with the Mizuno Hot metal pros because they were the most budget friendly. $125 a club with no up charge for custom shaft/grip.

P770 would be a good comparison to T100S. We'll have to add that one to the list...

I'm going with the 790's.

I swung both irons and the Taylormade P790 was better for me game. I’m a Titleist loyalist, so it was a little tough for me to purchase another brand.

Thomas, Have you tried the PW in these two irons? I mean the 48 degree on the T200 and the 50 degree on the P790. Which highest lofted wedge do you like out of these two irons on full shots, pitches and chips? Thanks, Joe

The 48* (T200) and 50* (P790) would be considered the gap wedge. The T200 still looks a little sleeker even in the wedges for forgiveness P790 for workability T200. If you like to pitch and chip a lot with the 50* I recommend a more versatile wedge like a vokey. - Thomas

Went for an iron fitting the other day & I loved the look of the T200, but I was getting 5 more yards out of the P790’s. I loved the feel of both, but couldn’t pass up the extra yardage.

You could bend the t200s stronger in loft.

Shafts combination is key in this test… with a proper fitting they would do the same thing , so it comes down to visual preferences IMO …

I was looking at either the ping g425 or the new Cleveland Halo irons, have you done a video on the Halo irons yet? Those are the 2 I'm looking at for my fitting.thx

Went for a fitting and expected to walk away with p790 or cobra forge tec until the fitter asked me to try t200 and I was blown away

P790 is my choice awesome irons

Daniel. You definitely have to try them both. The T200s weren’t even on my radar (I didn’t like the looks at all). P790s were my first choice. But the numbers and feel don’t lie. After hitting both, the T200s were the right club for me. I never would have guessed it…

Would you be able to do a head to head of the new T200 2 iron vs new p790 2 iron? Thanks!

Thanks, 2nd swing always have great videos. Question about lofts, If you weakened the 790's by 2 degrees, producing more spin and height, could you actually get more carry distance...guessing it also depends on your swing, dynamic loft, etc. thanks.

T200 is so beautiful to look at. P790 looks good too. If I wanted some extra distance P790 all day long. For a better player, it'd be T200.

@@petegalindez9961 same here went in for p790 but the t200s just went as far but back to back dispersion and forgivness won hands down on the t200s. Both felt similar but looks suited my eye more on t200

P790 best fit and feel..🙌🤘 Swing fit it at it's best performance, distance is what I'm chasing for and forgiveness. consistency was on point when you have the same swing with the irons. 100% satisfaction!!🙌

It's a very personal thing...I hit them in the SIM head to head and found that I was able to find the centre of the face more consistently with the T200. I got better ball speed numbers, launch numbers, peak height....all with the T200 v the P790. Someone else could go and hit them and find the complete opposite. The truth is, there isn't much in it between these 2 clubs.

T200 best irons I’ve played with great for a 9 handicap like myself although my handicap stayed the same after 1 year with them I’m pretty confident this year I’ll play better with them. Not a Taylormade fan.

Hi. I just turned 67, bought new P770's this year with DG S300 shafts, and have lost distance, carrying my 7 145-8 yards. I'm a 4 cap. Went for a Titleist fitting and he recommended the T300's with the nippon 880 chromes shafts, which felt pretty good and hit higher and farther (i know the lofts are 4 degrees stronger than the P770's). The P790s with a KBS lite regular also gave good numbers. Would you think a low single digit like myself who is aging and where distance is more important should consider the T300? Thanks.

Possibly but still at a 4 handicap you may not need a club in that game improvement category. I would test P790's with a lighter shaft like you did with the T300's I think DG S300 is probably way to heavy - Thomas

Hi Thomas & Drew, The comparison of hollow-back irons was good, but it would be better to have included Mizuno HMB, as I believe this iron was the bench mark for these types of irons. I am aware of these being the newest, but are they the best? Food for thought!🧐

Tried both and went for the T200, just found I could hit it more consistently. Wait time is frustrating though :( ordered mine in early August and still no sign of them, hopefully they will be worth the wait.

Tim. I’m in the same boat. Got fitted for T200s in early August. Just saw T200s show up at my local Golf Galaxy and received word from Club Champion that my iron heads will be delivered to the Club Champion HQ in Chicago on September 15th. Titleist didn’t have the shafts I wanted…so, hopefully that means yours aren’t too far behind! They are great clubs…I keep going to Golf Galaxy and swinging them! :)

I bought the 790s and had to lower the lofts bout as same as 770s to get the spin needed. Not sure why fitter just didn't reccomend those. Who needs to hit a 200yd 7i anyway?

The P790's are definitely a low spin iron and some golfers need to knock a lot of spin off - Thomas

Had a set of 790s sold them after 1 season. Found the distance control was so inconsistent. Hit my numbers a lot then 1/10 would be a hit flyer that would go 10-20 yards further. Also couldn’t get them to hold any greens.

Got fitted a month back and both of these were my final two choices both felt great but I got the p790s. For me the stats were just slightly better plus I also personally prefer TM over Titleist.

dynamic loft is really good with his shots which increases ball speed due to compression

Exactly. The i500 would fit the "distance players iron category" that both the P790 and T200 fit into. We don't have a recent comparison but we have a video comparing all the irons including the previous models for the P790, T200 & i500: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hq2KqtJvha2-oM4.html - Thomas

My choice is the P790! We aren’t pros so extra yardage matters and the stopping distance is incredible with the P790 ..

2:19 definitely got those clubs labeled wrong. Looks like the Titleist is the club on the left, Taylormade on the right.

Tested both todays fitting. Hit the P790 much better and did not like to sound of the T200 at all. Eeeek!

Any one experiencing gapping issues with the P790's? I get excellent distance (for me) with the 5,6 and 7 irons, however, the 8 and 9 irons are one club less than my old clubs. Carry distance with the 7 iron is 148, but only 125 with the 8 iron

Typically I don't see too much of an issue. I would double check the lofts on the clubs first - Thomas

Subtle difference in loft, they forgot to mention the T200 PW is 43 and the Gap 48 against 45 and 50 in the P790!

This is true and im glad you mentioned that! If going for T200 you have to factor in that 4-PW, GW at 8 clubs will have to have 3 wedges at 4 degree gapping (52, 56, 60) and would be 6 degree gaps (54, 60) in a 2 wedge set-up. In my opinion, better gapping at the low end of the bag goes to P790.

Lots of commenters saying p790s we’re longer for them… no duh they are stronger lofted, the p790 is great but seems like I get a lot of flyers

??? The TM P790s had a TIGHTER dispersion, even as a club with LESS loft than the Titleist T200s...🙂👍🙏

If you take out the one wayyyyy left shot with the T200, the T200 was tighter..that circle is deceptive. There is nothing for 15 yards to the right of the farthest right ball in that circle!!

I guess I see it different than you. I did remove the USER error shots from the graph. 👍✌. I also have been making/repairing clubs to the public for many years. I do have a TM bias... they use some bad assembly practices at TM

Dispersion is the golfer, NOT the club! Never seen a human robot.....

I would hate to hit one 185 and the next one 200… for that reason alone I wold my play the p790

The Content Guy was a bit bias against Taylor made!

Not necessarily. The P790 has performed very well on our channel in multiple tests but for some golfers you will need more spin if you have a slower swing speed - Thomas

I love the T200 headshape, arguably one of my favorite looking irons ever, but they feel terrible. Clicky and the hollow body is noticable. They are rocket launchers so those seeking distance and semi-compact look will love how they perform. For me, the feel is off putting. P790s offer similar performance but the material filling the internal cavity makes a world of difference in sound and feel.
