Titans vs. Raiders 2002 AFC Championship Game | NFL Full Game

Спорт

In honor of Free Game Friday the NFL presents the 2002 AFC Championship Game between the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders!
00:00 - Start
5:30 - Rich Gannon find Joey Porter in the end zone for the 3-yard TD
13:52 - Steve McNair airs our 33-yard pass to Drew Bennett for the TD
22:14 - Rich Gannon throws 12-yard TD pass to Charlie Garner
34:00 - Titans’ Joe Nedney makes 29-yard FG
36:30 - Raiders’ Tim Brown fumbles, recovered by the Titans
54:18 - Steve McNair scrambles for 9-yard TD to take 17-14 lead
1:00:35 - Titans’ Holcombe fumbles football, recovered by Raiders
1:02:50 - Rich Gannon finds Doug Jolley for 1-yard TD pass
1:05:00 - Titans fumble on ensuing kickoff, recovered by Raiders
1:10:30 - Sebastian Janikowski makes 43-yard FG to give Raiders 24-17 lead
1:18:20 - John Parrella sacks Steve McNair and forces Titans out of FG range
1:30:56 - Sebastian Janikowski makes 32-yard FG
1:38:40 - Steve McNair scrambles for 13-yard TD
1:46:40 - Rich Gannon scrambles for 2-yard TD
2:00:40 - Raiders’ Zach Crockette scores 7-yard TD
2:08:28 - Raiders stop Titans on 4th down to seal victory
The 2002 AFC Championship game was lopsided in several regards, most notably the score (41-24) in a Raiders win, but also in the offensive play calling. Over the course of the first three quarters the Raiders only called a single rushing play. Tennessee found themselves unable to contend with a lethal Raiders passing attack led by Rich Gannon and a defensive unit that repeatedly put the Titans in uncomfortable situations. The big win gave the Raiders a ticket to their fifth Super Bowl appearance.

Jerry Rice could've been an All Pro wide receiver at the age of 40. His 2002 year is for my money, the best season any player over the age of 39 ever put up in sports. 92 catches, 1211 yards, 7 TD's...at 40. That's why he's the GOAT. Hands down.

As a titans fan I loved that man till he did what he did with Vince Young. He came from USC and wanted Matt but Bud Adams forced him to take young and man fisher didn’t have respect for young from the get go. He could have been a good NFL qb but played for a coach that wanted him to fail. That Washington game where everyone says VY acted out and left, there is good reason and other players confirmed Fisher lied about what VY said trying to come back into the game.

NFL Please put up Raiders vs Broncos on Monday Night 2002. It was the 500th Monday Night Football. The Raiders had lost 4 in a row, came in that night and smashed the Broncos 34-10. Gannon tied the consecutive completion record and Jerry Rice caught his 200th TD. Rod Woodson had that legendary pick-6 that turned the season around, and set the all time record for pick-6s.

I don't think they could challenge that play but i remember that game well, and it is posted here now!! If you're up to speed with the Chucky and the Raiders now ... he's building the same formula he had back then. He has similar players stashed or on the team now ... just waiting for all the pieces to come together again and THEN THEY WILL BE UNLEASHED!! My thoughts anyways :)

It’s what it seemed like half the time. I feel like if the titans had even Tom Brady they would have never been as good as they were. Not the McNair is the better QB but the way he played the game he willed most of their wins with some help from the defense. George was a great back but used up to quickly. I believe he is a hof type of back but because they ran him the ground his numbers don’t match up for a HOF nod.

@Arthur Lockhart Jr. Seeing it now what's apparent is Al Davis wasn't crazy as he was made out to be and still had it. Al had a vision and the biggest part of that plan was to draft exceptionally talented players and let them sit behind veterans for a year or two. Gruden has admitted that he probably didn't handle things with Al the right way and should have listened a bit more. Gruden was a hot head and hell bent on proving himself as a coach. Bill Callahan ruined the culture built there. He ran the team into the ground making sure he looked good. Enter Lane Kiffin who blatantly lied to Al Davis to get the head coaching job. After that Al Davis' health severely deteriorates, and the franchise falls into chaos without Al being there in the capacity that he normally was. The sheer lack of talent that plagued the Raiders for the following decade and a half was historic. The Raiders without talent? Inconceivable.

The Titans had a legitimate shot at 3 Super Bowls in the late 90s-early 2000s. One yard short against the Rams obviously, but they were arguably the best overall team in 2000. The Ravens just happened to have a ridiculously powerful defense, and even then the Titans arguably outplayed them and did themselves in with turnovers. Turnovers cost them again in this one. They had a chance to take control going into halftime leading 17-14 only to self destruct again. Even in 2003 they hung in there with the Patriots, one of the most dominant super bowl teams in the modern era. That that Titans team never won even one championship is pretty sad honestly. Those guys deserved it.

As a titans fan I always hated y’all but I will admit I love the way no matter what raider fans were loud. If the refs threw a flag, even if for a good reason the whole stadium booed. I just thought y’all were stupid then but as I grew older I learned to respect that kind of fan base. Just being fans and that’s what a team needs.

The reality is legendary defenses like the steel curtain, doomsday, and the 85 bears would be totally overwhelmed in the modern NFL, watching old film, it’s shocking how much slower everyone looks. Do you guys realize the results of the Raiders being successful in this era were due to good drafting. We were producing our own stars back then. Since the Raiders returned home to Oakland back in '95, 25 years ago... I think my favorite Oakland roster was the year 2000, I liked our defense- Grady Jackson and Darrell Russel at DT, Bryant at DE, Greg Biekert at MLB, Eric Barton LB, Woodson CB. All those guys were Raider draft picks. If we had a better defensive coach between 1999-2002 we would have done more damage in the post season.

I remember Grady Jackson from a game I went to in Philly I was disguised as an Eagles fan because I heard so much bad stuff about their fans (midway through the first quarter they knew the deal) I was in the 14th row and the fans were totally cool asking me questions about the Raiders all game. It was Grudens first time back in Philly since he coached there and you could see the Raiders were an up and coming team even though they finished 8-8. Grady Jackson was an insane beast all game breaking through whoever tried to block him and chasing a very mobile QB around the field all day. He wrecked the Eagles offense they could not deal with a guy breaking into the backfield on almost every play.

He left the raiders and looked below average so I disagree. He was a good raider though
