Very interesting and informative video. I have been interested in the Titanic for the majority of my life. Personally, I have always been fascinated by 2nd class because it seems to be the least mentioned and/or known segment of the ship. When visiting the Queen Mary in Long Beach, it is always noticeable when suddenly public spaces become slightly less grand.

  • @pattonpending7390

Thanks for the behind the scenes view. I wondered how the ship was modeled. A quick question or two: When you overlay the matchstick walls over the panels ones, does it still leave those panel polygons behind the matchsticks, or does the SW cull the polys behind the visible layer? It looked a bit like they were still there, which could be a resource hog unless they are removed in an automatic process that is not shown. Also, I use a different CAD product (for 3D conversion of architectural blueprints for construction) and find it really useful to create a scaled background layer using the blueprint image to act as a visible reference to go by when building things up. Then I can layout the walls, doors, etc. ion top of this reference plan to maintain some reasonable accuracy for associations and dimensions. Does Sketchup allow for scaled background image layers? It might save some time... Anyway, thanks again. That's a lot of hard work, but also looks like a lot of fun. I am very jealous!

The ash hoist were essentially for the same thing they were used in in steam locomotives. When the fire box is cool they would go inside the boilers and remove the ash from the burnt coal. The ash would be shoveled onto the house and moved out of the boilers thru the lift housing and be accessed to be removed at a higher location in the ship. On a locomotive they would have a man crawl in the fire box and scrape the ash out shoveling it back out of the fire box this was done on coal and wood burners to prevent buildup in the fire box and prevent fires that are unwanted as most locomotive cabins of that era are wooden.

good morning Kyle. I ask you a question which I hope is not obvious, determined perhaps by my bad English. The solution of the internal hull is simplified, but the latter is only provisional pending to be modeled more coherently with the structure of the hull? or in the game remains so (orthogonal walls that do not follow the curvature of the external plates)?

I've been curious, when transferring from Maya to UE4, you suggested that it's all imported and put together manually. Was using the 'import from level' option ever considered to mass import an entire scene to exact coordinates? It's a pain when having a level with duplicate meshes as it counts them all as individuals, but for a level with unique meshes it saves time in the long run. Would love to see more of these, its reassures me that my method for a similar project is a good way to go. :)

Shit, when I was in Ireland (I’m from Brooklyn, NY) visiting family (I’m 1/2 Irish, 1/2 Italiano), in the late 70s, they looked at me like I had 3 heads because I took a daily shower. Disgrazie ! Yeah, they don’t got the excuse of the 90 degree, hot, humid NYC summers, but I also shower daily in the 20 degree winters. Summers in Dublin, at least in the 70s and early 80s, was typically cloudy, often rainy, luckily to push 65-70 degrees, still, gotta shower and wash the undercarriage, “onion bag balls” does not discriminate cold weather.
