Titanic musical | 2023 tour trailer
Ойын-сауық
Maury Yeston and Peter Stone's Titanic the Musical is set for a 10th anniversary UK tour.
Directed by Thom Southerland and produced by Danielle Tarento, Steven M Levy and Vaughan Williams in association with Southampton's Mayflower Theatre, the piece explores the lives and aspirations of the passengers and crew onboard, when the Titanic infamously sank on 15 April 1912 and over 1,500 lives were lost. The original Broadway production took home five Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Tarento commented: "Steven, Vaughan and I are so excited that the great ship Titanic is setting sail on a new UK Tour. I can't believe that it's been 10 years since that first production at Southwark Playhouse - it feels like a lifetime ago and only just the other day in equal measure! After the couple of years that we've all lived through, to be able to mark this anniversary by revisiting some favourite venues from the last tour and also bringing the show to some new ones feels especially joyful."
The creative team will also include set and costume designer David Woodhead, lighting designer Howard Hudson, and sound designer Andrew Johnson, with musical staging by Cressida Carré and new musical arrangements by Ian Weinberger.
The tour is set to kick off at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley on 16 March 2023, before heading to Newcastle Theatre Royal, Belfast Grand Opera House, Southampton Mayflower Theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome, Norwich Theatre Royal, Cardiff New Theatre, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Wycombe Swan, Hull New Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Orchard Theatre Dartford, The Lowry in Salford and Sheffield Lyceum in July 2023.
Further tour dates, as well as casting for the production, will be revealed in due course.

So glad to see this musical back one more time! I loved this musical growing up!
I watched this musical this afternoon and was blown away by it; one of my special interests is the Titanic, so I knew I had to check it out - I had never even heard about it until I randomly checked a local theatre booklet and saw it advertised! I’m so glad I went to watch it - it’s one of the best and most poignant musicals I’ve watched. All of the cast did a magnificent job ❤️
Just saw it today,unforgettable,brilliant.
This brings back wonderful memories from when I got to performed this amazing musical. I was George Widener/Frank Carlson/Third Class Passenger. We got to perform the finale again at a showcase. 🚢

It premiered in 1997, the same year the James Cameron movie premiered. The movie won the Oscar, the musical won the Tony. I saw the touring production, which had a scaled down set, but it was still very well done
Yup it was
I just went last night, the show is amazing. I absolutely loved it, the singing was really something else

Is it me or does Barrett look like Orpheus from Hadestown?
The character I like the musical to have is the last survivor Millvina Dean. And if you're gonna ask me how they can get a 2-month-old baby to act, well that is easy. You don't have to, whoever plays her mother will be holding a baby doll, and they can get a 4-5-year old boy to play her brother.
Hi
It looks like a very scaled down version.
I saw this show twice when it was new.....I liked it better than the movie!

This musical was originally released before the Movie came out so this story follow other original characters based on real people that went on the Titanic
*occurs again*
I want to become a filmmaker someday and I want to adapt this musical and a much popular remake that’s 3 times better than what James Cameron’s Epic version of Titanic

Why does it seem i saw a completely different show to everyone else... i saw it tonight in Norwich and it was excruciatingly boring. The acting and direction was totally flat and lifeless. where was the panic, desperation and urgency at the prospect of the unsinkable ship sinking ... nobody on stage seemed particularly bothered 🤷♀️... even the crewmember charged with waking up the passenges didnt bother to raise his voice at all.. I admit I was really impressed by the sound most the cast made and as an ensemble they sounded fantastic. But at times a few cast members sounded likentheybwere singing to themselves instead of in front of an audience - many lyrics were lost. Really disappointed after the buzz i saw.

There are tons of musicals that have to do with world war 2 and the holocaust. There is even an award winning Anne Frank musical. Parade just won the Tony for best revival. It’s a misconception that musicals are nothing more than fluffy choreographed dance numbers.

So the James Cameron movie is also disrespectful?
I love titanic but this will flop
I find it a disgusting and horrifying fucking shame. Because they make a musical about the DEATH and DESOLATION of more than THOUSAND people LOST in the OCEAN. This is an absolute lack of respect for those poor souls who were not at fault for traveling in a lie created from metal, power and lies... It deserves a dramatic opera with a bit of tact and quality. It is my opinion.

Musicals and operas often cover tragic events. No one would say Les Mis is disrespectful to the victims of the June Rebellion, because it is done in a respectful way, keeping the memory alive of those who might otherwise be forgotten, and helps modern people emotionally connect to and understand the people of the past. Titanic the musical reminds people of the heroic acts of so many that night and an event that changed history. It's not tastelessly treating their deaths as a spectacle. If that's your opinion you should also take issue with every piece of fiction or film ever made about wars or other tragedies. Musicals are just another format to tell a story.

No, it’s not. I know the west end has a reputation for only putting on fluffy drivel but these comments are concerning. True art can be about tragedy. The best art often is.

Have you even seen the show? This is not just a funny silly show about the death of hundreds of people is a show about basically the things that you describes a show that threats the life of the people in a respectful way and tell us a story about hubris and the poor souls who had the bad luck of traveling in this ship
Seen at Regent Theatre, Wednesday 26th April 2023. TITANIC the Musical. One word: WOW! I am a huge musical theatre fan. Over the last 20 years I have visited the Westend hundreds of times and I have seen almost every musical theatre production several times. As an NHS Nurse I need an escape and musical theatre is like medication to me. I get lost in each production. So, although I have no training in musical theatre, I know a good production and performer when I see one. I detest the new juke box type productions when the lead is only there due to being some X-Factor reject or the like. I also detest when the audience do not respect the cast by singing and humming along and eating everything in sight. I go to see professionals doing their well-honed craft, not to a karaoke. So, I am on annual leave this week and initially planned to go to London to see Hamilton, Cabaret or Wicked again, but I have now been priced out, I cannot afford £180.00 or more for a decent Stalls seat. Therefore I did a local search and found this. To my shame I had taken no notice of this Musical since its conception many years ago, believing it to be yet another Film remake, BUT how wrong I was. I could not bear a couple of TV Reality ‘stars’ hanging off the end of a fake boat singing My Heart Will Go ON. Thankfully, that song is no where to be seen. The film has its place and that’s where it should stay. After researching and finding the OCR on Spotify I realised what I’d been missing and booked. I like to be very familiar with the soundtrack before I go and had listened to it in its entirety about 20 times since booking last week. This is how a musical was meant to be and to say I am blown away by this production and cast is an understatement. I viewed each cast member’s resume online and was amazed to see that each and every member is a trained professional who have studied and have reached the top of their game. This is rarely the case now, sadly the Production crew go for big names to get people on seats rather than quality. Although you probably will not know any of the cast, do not let that put you off. These are true and utter professionals gifted with the absolute best acting and singing skills. My ear is soon to pick out a ‘not so great’ voice or a member who hasn’t the gifting of the rest, but not so here. When EACH and EVERY cast member open their mouths, a beautiful and perfect sound comes out! This isn’t by chance, they have clearly practiced hard and continue through blood, sweat and tears to maintain this level. Their breathing techniques, perfect use of vibrato and the pure method type acting emotion caused my skin to be in Turkey mode almost throughout, chill after chill when down my spine. The production and story telling is magical, although there are not big set changes or fancy fireworks etc, these are not needed and I loved the way the story is mostly all sung. The harmonies will literally make you gasp and the sound of the whole cast together is breath-taking. I don’t often take the time to writing reviews anymore as it’s so much effort to type, as it’s all we do nowadays, but for this I just had to spread the word. Please do not miss this. I stood to my feet instantly at the end, as did the whole auditorium. I have booked again, for the Matinee on Saturday. The cost is ridiculously cheap and an absolute bargain. If just one of these cast members were to sing alone you’d be paying big bucks to see them, believe me. If any of the cast or production read this, I send you a massive THANK YOU for what you do, I know you don’t save lives, but for those of us who do, you bring light and relief to our lives. To the Casting Director for this production my question is, how on earth did you find all these perfect cast members as I have never known it before, ever! Respect!
