James Cameron took a lot of inspiration from A Night to Remember, so it's fitting that many scenes are similar in both films.

A Night To Remember is very accurate for the most part. The way it sinks fully intact is the only major inaccuracy I can think of. But I don't blame the film creators for that mistake as it was generally believed by most people that the ship sank whole until the wreck was finally discovered

I must say, even though the 1997 Film was nominated for Best Visual Effects, the 1958 version IS Heavily Impressive for the time being.

I watched it in half speed just to savour all the work you put into this one. Freaking brilliant. (Again). I love both movies, and until this, I had no idea how much was "borrowed" from the original film. Things that weren't historical, but cinematic "homages". Excellent work. That you have so many in the pipeline ready to go leaves me in further awe. Well done.

Walter Lord, who wrote the book A Night to Remember, was James Cameron's guest of honor when the film premiered in London in 1997 - Cameron also consulted the director of the film. He was really trying to bring Titanic enthusiasts together with his film - allowing historians to come tour the set and hiring Don Lynch and Ken Marshall to work with him on the film. More nods to Titanic's film past was casting David Warner (from S.O.S. Titanic) to play Spicer Lovejoy and Bernard Fox (from A Night to Remember) to play as Archibald Gracie in his film. He even managed to work in a scene from "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" film as Kathy Bates is describing the scene at the dinner table (hiding money in the stove which was also based on a story written in a Colorado newspaper)

Ship at 0:05 is Aquitania Ship at 0:08 is Lusitania Ship at 0:12 is SS Bremen. No footage of Titanic at sea or in port was ever taken, the only footage that does exist is of the ship being winched into the Thompson drydock in Belfast, and that was only discovered after Cameron's film was made. For this movie, just footage of four-funnel liners was sufficient. Aquitania's boarding was a match, after they had cut out the "Cunard" part of the "Cunard-White Star Line" banner on the gangway. Bremen's footage was fine to use also as it didn't show the funnels or much recognisable detail.

Well, except for the christening of the ship, the fact that it didn't break in half, the heroic and angelic depiction of Charles Lightoller, the third class being locked in the ship (which people tend to complain about in Cameron's film but not ANTR.... weird) many of the film set interiors etc.

A Night To Remember is a great film i know there is mistakes in it but at least you know its fairly truthful to what happened on that night in April 15 1912 as for James Cameron 's Titanic a rubbish film that spent to much time on a made up romance and didn't even mention the Carpathia or the Californian?
