Cool! I remember building a garage gym pulley system in the rafters with clothesline pulleys, baling string, rope, and a wooden peg through the eye in the end of the rope to hold the plastic/cement plate stack. It worked great!😜👍

Great review! However, instead of using a furniture slider to shim the weld, consider a simple silicone potholder (thick, maybe waffle-patterned), found in any store's kitchen section. If you need more thickness, just get two. That way, you can both cut a two-inch hole and cut the outer edge to fit the baseplate of the loading pin.

Awesome tip, Jim! I bought the Titan one for my new pulley system but was wondering if I should’ve ponied up for the Rogue one. I’ll keep the Titan one since it ended up being $5 after using points. It just won’t be shipped for another week. The Rogue one comes close to $50 after shipping! The tip on the sliders was an awesome bonus. My buddy bought some sled spacers from Ab Mat so I’ll ask him for one of his extras to use for my pin.

@@SuperDecible yes, I still recommend rogue over titan for this. and yes, I recommend some sort of padding over the base. Not to protect the pin, but to protect your plates.

3 years later. Titan was $23 and Rogue is $50 shipped to California. I went Titan. It's for my DIY pulley. I'm just going to put my Titan 1.25 change plate at the base Hopefully it doesn't snap.

@@JS-lr8nj my Titan loading pin came in yesterday. It's very good considering price too. The only thing is attaching the caribiner is a little finicky, but not a huge problem. Rogue is awesome and I'd do the $50 if the price wasn't as far apart.

Did you consider grinding down the bead to where the plate would sit flat?if it has a fat bead perhaps the weld can be strong enough to where you’ll be able to grind it down without compromising the integrity of the pin .just a suggestion.i made one of these at school and unfortunately the pipe I used was two inches but the schedule of the pipe was a lil too thick not being able to fit olly plates.😥all that hard work for nothing

the only reason I won't do that is that I don't know how much will hold the 2 pieces together if I grind the bead down flat. But yeah, a person could clearly do this if they wanted.

@@JimintheGym I was going to ask this exact same question. The point of the handle is to do duck walks and power stairs. I was tempted to get it for kettlebell swings but I don’t think that’s a viable option. Great content and excellent channel!

@@dasdos002 Thanks for the kind words. So, let me get this straight. What you need is a handle that you would hook to a loading pin? So, for what this gets used for, I think the typical handles you'd use for a cable system might not be a great idea. The ones I have, have a foam rubber grip. I think for the kind of weight you guys are talking about, that woudln't be a great thing. BUT, honestly, all you need is a metal ring that can hold a lot of weight without deforming or breaking. You could use caribiners to hook it to the loading pin. Basically, you can make a chain with caribiners, so you can adjust the length. So, something like dinnie rings? www.roguefitness.com/rogue-dinnie-ring-set Or titan probably has something cheaper. but like a gymnast's ring? Can't vouch for these, because I don't know how much weight you're talking about, but would something like this be okay? Or do you need it to be an actual ring? www.amazon.com/COYKIRK-Resistance-Carabiners-Exercise-Stretching/dp/B08HN47ZNX/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Exercise+Handles&qid=1606655118&sr=8-5 You'd think you'd be able to find somebody who just makes like a 5" round steel ring that can hold a lot of weight without deforming, but a quick google search really didn't turn anything up.
