Tire Upgrade! Arrma Vorteks Testing the Pro-line Racing Badlands MX28 HP 2.8" Belted Tire
Honestly, I really like the stock Qatar tire on the Arrma Vorteks...but that has never stopped us from upgrading before! :)
Enter the Pro-line Badlands MX28 HP 2.8" Belted Tire
- Amazon: amzn.to/3vKmUid
- eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/402720377561...
Since I have already converted the truck to 17mm hexes, I also picked up the 17mm hexes for the wheels: amzn.to/3h2SmEj
This made a HUGE difference in how the truck drives. Really good traction, higher side-bite, and surprisingly easy to control in the air.
Very nice all around!

HI Troy how did you get your vorteks sitting so wide ? I've got the belted badlands on my sons vorteks but they are ripping the body to bits, I've heard the typhoon arms set it a bit wider ? any advice would be appreciated
@RoadsideRC
Жыл бұрын
You are right - the Typhon arms do widen the truck. This is the stock Vorteks arms. Pro-line does offer different offset hexes for the wheels. Perhaps that is the difference? You can see I put the 17mm hexes on here, so am using their 17mm hexes also.
You mentioned that these are belted. I understand that Badlands are available belted or unbelted with the belted versions quite a bit more expensive. Is belted always best if you don’t mind the outlay ? Also, are these vented ? I’m thinking of them as a Big Rock upgrade because the stock tyres are so balloony. Another really helpful vid. Thanks.
@RoadsideRC
3 жыл бұрын
It certainly helps with ballooning...but they are not vented. Really makes me wonder what will happen when I get water in there...
Is the body hitting with the adapters on it-the ones that changed the MM size? It looked like they would have the tire sitting out a little further than the stock
@RoadsideRC

I didn't use adapters. I used Typhon 3S stock axles. I typically avoid adapters as they lead to more breakages.
Looks great with the badland tires. I just got my vorteks about a 4 days ago and i love it. Did notice after running it the first time , a little warm inside when i took the body off after running, thinking about venting it a little on the back of the cab. I have actually been using the larger pinion gear still, no issue. If you were the stock tires out that fast, you will wear these down fast also. So far, I have been very happy with them.

@@RoadsideRC ok because they sale different lengths, in trying to figure out how long I need, in your opinion based on what you said about those hot racing adapters spreading out the wheels , that would probably be better in my case, I think my tires are the same size, just different treads, but they are 2.8 trenchers, I went into Cookeville hobbies and it was the first time I've ever been in a hobby store, so man I was so amazed, lol, my mouth was wide open, lol I went in there to just look , I decided that I needed one of everything and thank goodness my wife was with me, she's my safe place in public lol, I decided that I just couldn't run my factory big rock tires anymore that I had bought a month before after building my big rock from a box of parts that was donated to me lol, or I wouldn't have one, any ways I found Jenny's rc and all I got was a body and tires , the rest of it I was able to build, from several different diffs, each one had something wrong that another didn't, I literally at the time had work on anything RC but a Traxxas slash and it was 2wd so it was a whole different level of machine, anyway lol sorry I get to running my head, I bought these tires , I didn't even look at the label, I just knew the size was what I wanted, they were dished for a stampede, so i went back to the wall grabbed the adapter kit thinking it would be what I needed, of course I didn't explain what I was doing, i was getting my ear full because the tires were 100 plus taxes and I was trying to get more stuff on top of them, I learned my lesson, just ask or tell the wife to ask lol, I got just about everything I need to build a outcast, I only lack the center diff and the body and the plastic set you buy off Jenny's rc, the 17mm hexs wouldn't work because they were to short, the 14 were the same, so anyway I have gotten info that I needed to get the 30mm ones in either to make them work, I'm really wanting to finish the outcast but it's getting put on the back burner for now, I also want to say thank you for inviting me to the crawers event, but at the moment my wife is in ark looking after her dad for a month so ill probably catch the next one, I don't drive much unless it's absolutely a have to. Well I was going with all that last part that I had just got the red cat ascent 18, my big gen 8 front pan hard mount screw holes were stripped, I'll probably super glue them in or id rather put scx10iii axles under it so it will be 4 link in front and back, just got to get the transmission plate off a gen 7 or the scx10iii so the links in the front have the fourth link connection place, it was giving to me to, so I got a 2300kv fusion pro in it but when I took off with it, the front axle was looking like it was falling off, I'm sorry I write so much, I guess i got no one to talk to about things rc except for a few of you channel creator that put up with me lol. But thank you for your answer, again thank you for the invite, I'm just not sure about driving and wife not being there, I just moved here too from Arkansas so I only know where very few places are, ok I'm done running my head lmfao, I was just watching your collection of videos and ran into that and it was something I was doing so I asked.
