    What I do is I fill my silicone sheets as normal... Dehydrate it, but leave it on the trays, then put more broth over and dehydrate again...I actually did this three times and the result is a thicker layer to remove from the sheet

    That makes sense. Out of a dehydrator full, only the last one filled gave me trouble taking off the sheet. It wasn't as full as the others. My last batch, I dehydrated turkey broth and the turkey bits after I cleaned the bones. I ground the broth and turkey together, but I haven't used it yet. I'm thinking turkey noodle soup and see how it works. Many Blessings!

    What I like best about dehydrating bone broth, besides space savings, is that I can use small amounts and not worry about using the rest before it goes bad. I used it daily on dog food (until our very old dogs died last year) along with adding green powder and pumpkin powder to their food! My elderly mother has slowed down on eating so I send her powdered bone broth and powdered vegetable which she adds to pudding or soup or whatever to make sure she gets nutrition when she’s rather not eat much if anything.

    I love cooking with fire roasted canned tomatoes. I have a good supply. Yesterday, I decided to try dehydrating to save and weight. I put one 14.5 oz. can on each silicone tray. Each tray yielded 1/2 cup of dehydrated flakes. 6+ cans will go into a quart jar. I am going to try doubling up and either using 2 small cans or 1 large can now that I know how to measure when cooking with it. Thanks Heidi for all your wonderful tips. God Bless.

    I found it sticks much more to parchment paper than it does to silicone. I use silicone pans in the oven for a couple of days at 170 and I fill a couple of inches of broth in each silicone baking pan. Got baking pans pretty cheap at ALDI.

    I now do this thanks to you. The amount of space I've saved is insane. I can fit 12 32 oz jars in one single 32 oz jar. I do have a few canned, just in case but honestly, I may never go back to doing any other way. The only con is having to powder it. I find that a PIA so now I just don't bother. I'm thinking of doing it for milk but mine's already frozen. Maybe not worth it? 🤔

    It would depend on the person, the herbs, if you are on any medications, or have any allergies. The blend possibilities are so great that it would be a lot to research though I know it is best to not mix ginkgo and feverfew, if I remember correctly

    Can you dehydrate canned broth to extend its life !? Past the expiration date on the can

  • @RainCountryHomestead

    @RainCountryHomestead

    Heidi concerning the silicone sheets. I have two dehydrators one is round and one is rectangle. both with center holes. the round one I have found sheets with the middle out but the rectangle one I can not find a sheet with the middle out. It also has the fan at the bottom. I find my self using it more because I can control the temperature over the round one. Can I use the sheets like you have on this even though it will cover the hole in the center ?

  • @RainCountryHomestead

    @RainCountryHomestead

    6 ай бұрын

    The thing with the hole is that is the main way the air is being circulated I would assume that covering it will greatly slow down the dehydrating process. It may still work but hard to say how long it may prolong the drying time
