I'm not gonna lie I really identified with being aggressive. As a Jamaican woman born and raised, we don't have many ultra-feminine role models and we are raised to be very aggressive, fiesty and all of the above but as I have entered the beginning of my 30s I have the strong desire to be soft and just a more calming and warm spirit for myself and others

Hi, As a Jamaican woman born and raised as well, I totally identify with what you are saying. Having gone to an all girl High School, I can now she that they were grooming us to be feminine but we didn’t appreciate that way of life as we should have. I had to learn a lot about femininity here on KZread. However, it’s never to late to learn 😊

We all embody both feminine and masculine energies. The key is finding balance. We live in a world where masculine energy is in excess. We need to lean into the feminine and do things that keep as ‘soft’.

I started my feminine journey years ago and had some of the same issues that you stated. Growing up in Chicago as protection many girls like myself felt we had to be hard so no one would bother us and in turn resulted in us struggling with vulnerability. Being feminine has truly changed my life for the better and I’m happy to see more and more black women are spreading the message. Thanks for sharing the practical tips because I feel practicality is important.

Such great advice, and timely too! Just today, I was carrying a bunch of bags and heavy items into a building where a gentlemen offered me a hand. I instinctively said no even though I clearly could have used the help and would have actually appreciated it lol, plus he was quite handsome. I immediately regretted it because being open to receiving help has been on my list of self improvement for a while! But, I figure, each time is practice and the fact that I was mindful about how I could’ve reacted instead shows some growth. There’s always next time!

Not going to fight you lol but I did try the neutral thing for so long. It's so interesting because adding colours like pink, red and yellow to my wardrobe has made me feel WAY more feminine than my usual black, white and grey clothes. I love being a bit brighter and it does make me feel beautiful. Also, block heels and ankle straps have been a game changer for high heels, which I always thought I couldn't wear! Love your first point that you have to do it for yourself! It's so true. Great video 🤩

Im a mom of 2 & no matter what I still go for neutral clothes since they never go out of style & feel like im being stylist. Also loved your tip about being vulnerable especially in the latin culture were always taught to be very independent but im truly loving being vulnerable & showing others that I struggle too & learning to accept help has been a game changer.

That last tip on being Vulnerable is everything!!!! I recently moved to the U.S to work and the initial set of people I lived with made it so uncomfortable (they wanted to charge me money, even for the bed I slept on and to use the items in the kitchen). I am now in my new apartment and I am receiving so much help from people who care.... sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all this help, I even broke down in tears this morning.....all because of pride and me thinking that I'm too much at the moment for others. Being vulnerable is truly hard especially for strong women. Thanks for these tips Octavia. I am open to learning and becoming the upgraded ME!

Love your videos, Octavia! Came across your channel last year, as I decided I wanted to be more intentional in my aesthetic and creating space to care for myself in ways I’ve been neglecting (like getting enough sleep, reading, praying intentionally). I’m also Jamaican and raised by a mostly single grandmother and later mostly single mother. My grandmother was tough. And although my mom often embodied feminine energy (in her style and manner of speaking), I saw her harden over the years as she worked longer hours, slept less, and felt the need to do everything on her own as a single mother. I started to notice similar patterns in myself as I transitioned from an entrepreneur to a more corporate role where I work longer hours and felt I had to become somewhat more sterile/direct and say everything with a period at the end. Self-awareness and willingness to evolve are such important parts of this journey. Agree with all your tips here. Thank you for sharing!

Thankfully, I have always felt comfortable being ultra feminine. I love being not only a woman, but also being a lady…… Treat yourself like a delicate flower and others will do the same❤️
