    I came across your videos and just love them! Your wonderful ideas are appreciated so much! Love your recommendation on using plywood and styrofoam. I’ve been using card tables and fluffy white fabric. Cords are hidden with “cottony snow.” I have found cords with 4 bulbs work best and cords need switches. I have about 50 buildings and store them in original boxes or wrapped in batting/cotton snow and inserted into plastic bags. Years ago I purchased about 30 black totes (so I’d know they were Christmas village items.) I definitely like your idea of tree totes to accommodate more. You and your home and family are so beautiful! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    Outstanding tips! I had already packed my village and accessories away and used some of the techniques. However, after seeing this video next year will definitely be easier. The tips on aligning the figures in their packaging and keeping the roads flat is excellent. I love the packing of the building without boxes. I use bubblewrap, but it certianly was not as uniform. I have 6 bins but can make much better use of the space. Great information.

    Hi Miriam. Was so nice to see your process. Mom and I each usually just wrap up our figurines in tissue paper and store them in ornament boxes. I know she does keep some of her street lights in their original packaging. I usually end up tearing or cutting the packaging when I first take the figurines out so it gets tossed. While your way does to more time to pack, you can see your figurines much more easily for display purposes. We end up unwrapping each one to find the ones we want. Haha. As I told you, Mom as a small Christmas shed where she stores all her houses in their original boxes. I store mine out in my garage. Large boards are either in my garage or up in my sister's attic. It does take so much time to pack it all away. It's a sad time but also nice when the job is completed. I can't wait to see your Zoo display. Peace and Blessings to you and yours.

    Hey Lloyd, nice to hear from you. Ive been debating if I should start storing some of my bins on my garage shelves but it’s so much easier for me to move those heavy bins from the closet instead of trying to pull them down off of a shelf. Every year, I move everything by myself so I have to make it manageable for me. A whole Christmas shed would be too dreamy for me. 😂🤣😄. I would have it packed full!!

    Great tips thank you!! I decided this year to trace the bottom of each building on hard card stock before I put the buildings in the boxes and put them away. I am doing this so that I can work on making a wood base like you have between now and next year and want to have a labelled outline of the buildings to place them around the board so I know where to make holes as I plan my next village :) Hopefully this idea works as planned!

  • @MiriamsManner

    @MiriamsManner

    2 жыл бұрын

    That is a great idea Lynda, I have done that is the past and it does work nicely. The only thing I would add to that is write the height of each building on your card stock so if you build levels, you know how tall to make the level behind it based on the height of the buildings in front.

    I love the way you store the Lemax figurines. (I also write in sharpie on the plastic) It will definitely be more efficient. I just wish they were easier to open as some of them tear and are so sharp. They should come with a band-aid! I am leaving my village up a little longer since I finished sooo late. Don’t have the heart to rip it down so soon after all that work.. next year starting earlier and since I’ve learned so much it should be a bit easier as well. Thanks for the tips😊

  • @MiriamsManner

    @MiriamsManner

    Thanks so much Dawn!! You are funny, they can be a little difficult to open safely. I started using a screwdriver or razor blade to pop it open where the seal is. It keeps the plastic from ripping apart. If I didn’t have so much a want to build, I would have left my village up longer but I need my building room freed up. Not only that, I will be building two new larger platforms for my mother village. I have village projects lined up until the end of March. Take care and talk soon.
