All the tips are very good, but the last one is really a LIFE saver. A lot of metals have chrome coating, and that stuff is really dangerous to breathe. They are easily recognizable though. By the way, a flux core welder is one of the easiest welders to start with to have good structural welded parts but if you want really nice looking welds, a stick welder gives nicer looking result, not to mention MIG of MAG. They are much more difficult to use for a beginner though.

The goggles tip is real. I was grinding on some metal with an angle grinder and a piece of metal hit my nose and went right under the lense of my safety glasses and into my eye. My vision was blurry for 2 weeks and it really scared me. Fortunately everything went back to normal. But I only use goggles or a face shield for any grinding or cutting now!

Growing up, I made model kits like airfix. I was snipping parts off the sprue, when a small piece of plastic shot into my eye. It scratched my cornea only very slightly but I could feel it for about a week. Eyes are such incredibly delicate organs, it always pays to be safe rather than sorry.
