My daughter gave me the Jade plant she got at 16, she’s 41 now. It’s always been in the same southeast window. It has flowered twice. I just repotted it a week ago. I couldn’t get it out of the clay pot so I had to take a hammer to the pot. I couldn’t get the roots lose, so I just planted it in a bigger pot. Hope it lives! We shall see.🪴

A very thorough explanation of all aspects of Jade growing. Really needed this as I've had mixed results with "easy" growing Jade Plants. I figured out watering by accident. Every 2-3 weeks, I take each plant to the sink and let water flow through it, thoroughly getting it wet. Then it dries out on the lanai for the next 3 weeks. I used your video to repot one this morning. Thanks so much for the tips. Excellent video and am now a new subscriber.

I live in a part of California where we have lots of sun and the balcony faces SSW. My first jade plant was the standard one, part of a shrub that broke off a neighbor's plant. It's doing fine and looks like a small tree. I had a Gollum years ago. I currently have Curly Jade, Tetragona looking like pine trees in a shallow pot, and Elephant Bush. I have to watch that they get too much sun except for the tetra. They can look pale but have red edges. I'm hoping to find more colorful varieties. The tetra flowered a bit this year, small yellow ones, that only took 13 years, lol, but it wasn't my plan to bloom them. Anyway, I really like your show; all success to you! 👏🪴

I had a jade plant or, have, a jade plant that I have been tending to for about a year and a half now. Probably six or seven months ago I reported it and it started getting really really dramatically sad. I realized that it was struggling with being overwatered based on how the leaves were starting to brown and drop dramatically. I actually remove the plant from the pot in order to dry it out and put it back in some drier soil, at which point I noticed that actually had never spread its roots out from the original size pot it had been in. It had been pre-root bound so I tried to break up the roots a little bit but clearly I hadn’t done a good enough job because I spent about half an hour today just breaking apart the roots only to find that even though the new soil was dry the old soil surrounding the roots was dripping wet. Obviously a mistake on my part when I repotted the plant, but I am excited to see if she does better after this hospitalization

Talking about your plant in the past tense in the 1st part of your comment is very telling. You already knew what you were going to do to the plant… you already knew you were going to kill it. I don’t buy any of your story about how you “accidentally overwatered it or how it “must have been the soil” that ripped the roots off your plant. Let m ask you, and I want you to be honest. Was this something you had planned on doing for a while? Or was this a spur-of-the-moment fit of rage you had. We all make mistakes… I just want to know the truth. You owe it to everyone to say what really happened. What the truth is…

Thank you. I just repotted my jade plant yesterday, but I didn’t disturb the roots. I just put it into a new mix but the soil was very moist so I’m going to repot it and take off all the moist soil and put it in a completely new mix. Is that the right more or should I leave it? Thank you again.

@@SheffieldMadePlants not that I’m aware of. The leaves look really good, green, and plump and then one will randomly fall off. This is the second one I’ve had, same thing happened with the first one until it finally died.

You probably can but you might lose lots of foliage. Keep it somewhere nice and bright and warm and hopefully it will bounce back
