I started practicing your method of palm sowing when I first saw you do it a few years ago. I have bad thumbs and gripping anything small is painful and near impossible for me-that includes seeds. Palm sowing turned out to be an adaptable way for me to sow seeds because thumbs are not involved. It does take a little practice though. I’ve gotten much better at it. You make it look so easy.

Thank you for all this info Steve, you have taught me so much over the few months I have been following you. I also love flowers growing in the veg patches and around them, after all they attract the bees and other insects. I have always used the palm method of sowing too, my Dad showed me when I first started with seeds years ago. Also, I'm thrilled for you that your subscriptions are climbing well, I think it's because the people who watch you feel that you don't dress things up, you say it like it is and it all makes good sense. Thank you for your knowledge Steve :)

As Iv said before this is why I believe your channel is one of the better ones.. very informative with the stuff only years of experience . Which you share with us old and new gardeners.. ..... yeah many channels once they have the subs become promoters.. so they get things for free . That's fine as long as they don't just turn into that kind..... remember most people that have an allotment do it to save money . Or air miles by growing their own ... at the same time saving money so all that kind of information far better than watching someone that promotes expensive things .. as you said you don't do a lot of lights .. just a small amount of heat ..in the end if winter months. Again . Top advice.. I watch countryside and noticed .. there is a trend to go back to a older time on fertiliser and how to improve the soil . This has got to be the way forward... I'm not old fashioned. Just intensif throw chemicals at everything = money...

It is all a difficult balance to achieve, running a youtube channel can be expensive so I do understand why some creators plug products that will be useful to them (as they get it free or reduced in price). If I published what I have spent on this channel, some people might feint, so I never will. I plug the occasional company or product but it has to be for a very good reason. I do get offered many free products every week, some gardening related others not and I turn most of them down...Steve...🙂

I think it’s a great idea Steve. There are lots of little “tips and tricks” that gardeners learn, taught or pick up over the years and it’s great to share them. Knowledge is power so they say, a bit of a coveted thing, but the gardening fraternity generally love to share. As this section grows why not include tips shared by other youtubers you could insert them. Anyway, great idea. Thanks

Great video. I like the idea of short clips. If you ever find a way of making comfrey, Nettle or other plant fertiliser which doesn't smell so bad I'd love to know as I can't use it because it makes me feel quite ill.

Have you seen the compression way of making pure comfrey extract? I’ve started a comfrey press bin with a spout in the bottom and I heap the leaves in and put a weight on top. The aim is to eventually get a pure extract juice dripping into a container underneath but takes longer and needs a larger amount of leaves I think. Also needs diluting more because it’s not been in any liquid prior so is stronger. I’m trying this because I am extremely sensitive to smells and don’t want to be puking on my plot 😂

Very Eighteenth C., 1700s, supposedly, to simply pile up a huge armful of flowers and then to put them into a vase. No careful arrangements, no fussing or fretting.

I think you should index your videos into chapters if you are going to produce small clip based videos, which I agree are a good idea. See Epic Gardening's channel recent videos for examples (e.g you can see subsections of each video). Otherwise it's like a guidebook without a contents page. And I hope you don't become 'too professional' ;) the personal touch is great.

I’m really enjoying your tips, but have to scale down for my tiny garden. I’ve grown comfrey for a few years, used it as chop and drop, and layered in my wee compost bin. But I have finally worked out how to make comfrey tea without annoying my neighbours with the smell. Bokashi, airtight bins, only stinks as I decant into bottles from the tap. A question, I have diluted it 10:1 before feeding my tomatoes and strawberries. Is that about right? It truly does smell vile! NhL

I tend to go by the colour rather than a statutory measure, if I am feeding every day I will use it the colour of weak tea, once or twice a week then it is quite brown but still transparent...Steve...🙂
