Tip - 298: How to align a solve coming from the Motion Tracker in Cinema 4D

Фильм және анимация

In this Quick Tip, Jonas Pilz (@jonaspilz3d) shows you how to align a solve coming from the Motion Tracker in Cinema 4D. You will learn how to use the Position, Planar and Vector Constraints to define the scene origin, ground plane and X axis and also how to scale the solve properly.
Recorded in Cinema 4D S22.

Hi, nice tutorial. I was woundering if you could help me understand what it mean when a 3d solves only completes half of the footage and the only message I have in the bottome left is "Deffered Solve Finished" Footage settings has the correct start and end frame. frame rate settings match the footage. I've tried tracking with tiff and jpeg image sequence. I've tried using a full solve and the 2D tracking method. C4dD R25 Regards. Taj

if I use the wall as the ground plane, what axis should I set to? thx

Hi! Great tutorial! Thanks a lot! By the way, there are several videos shot with phones or handheld cameras walking with great 3D integration. For example the latest from Kane Pixels (creator of the backrooms) made with blender titled "The oldest view". In it, there is a long take handheld walking with a 3D tunnel. The integration is perfect! I'd like to see a tutorial from you about solving handheld walking long shots like that one. I did some tests with C4D 2023 and the objects "slide", they are not well integrated. I guess is difficult as the camera is very shaky when walking.Any tips will be welcomed.

Is there a way to move and rotate everything so that points in the wall align to the Z world axis and the ones in the gound align to the Y world axis?

It was all in the video. You can pick x, y or z alignment in the vector constraint. The planar constraint is similar but you set the axis that is supposed to be orthogonal to the plane which is defined by the tracks you've assinged. Offset/move can be done in the position constraint. Assign a track and numerically define where in 3d space you want it to be. The position of all other tracks will then be derives from the all of your constraints.

Why do you make the planar constraint to the y axis? Isn't it the x axis?? I don't understand.

Sebastian Häfele: I know what the answer is. It is so embarrassing that Maxon Does not want to give official answer here. Therefore I will keep making this same question to all their videos. Hopefully they change their policy.
