    As a chiropractor, although the adjustment can help, the muscle re-education for a rib is the most important, especially when our daily life activities is what encourages it to be compromised. It would be nice if Lori was more respectful between different professions when pointing out that the adjustment isn't the only thing that is important here.

    the reason this lady nor the chiropractic can solve this rib problem is because its stuck anterior. the rib that they are talking about on the posterior side or her back is the only rib that is in the correct position that they considering to be out. Her problem is much more severe than they are imaging. the entire front on the rib cage is collapsing forward and they are talking about only one rib being out on the wrong side of the body. and did they not notice all the flat spots in her thoracic spine? get an anatomy book...there is suppose to be curves in that area but she just has theses huge flat spots. Basic anatomy people

    If I had a rib out, would I know it by running my hands on the injured area? I have pain in the lower rib cage in the back on the left side when I do heavy squats, I know it's not the lats because I'm fine when I do chin-ups and rows, in fact I rarely feel it when I'm doing anything but heavy squats, maybe deadlifts but recently, I've been hurting so bad after squats that I can't do my deadlifts (which I usually do after squats). I think it's an intercostal muscle strain, does that sound right?

  • @themovementninja

    @themovementninja

    2 жыл бұрын

    You would probably not be able to feel it with your hands, it's not a dislocation. It's difficult to say exactly what is going on without a good assessment, but I would suggest a good place to start is by taking a video of your squat (light, medium and heavy) from the front, back and side. You may find that your ribcage tilts at some angle that creates a compensation. It could even be from a pelvis tilt! So many possibilities as to the source of your pain, but that's where I would start.

    Pain must be your guide. If you have lots of pain, stop trying the roller and check with a physical therapist, chiropractor or physician. I haven't seen or felt many bumps with a rib out. It's hard to advise from my computer on this one, sorry.

    Should one do the roller all the way down the spine or just where the ribs are out?

  • @themovementninja

    @themovementninja

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Shelley, you don't want to go the whole length of the spine. Just stay on the rib cage. There's not as much support at the lower rib cage and if you're not able to lay your head and hips down (which is most people), it puts too much strain on the lumbar spine.

    This didn’t help me. I have been dealing with a slipping rib for almost 3 years to little avail. The thing this simple trick doesnt address is that after a prolonged time of being out of place, my rib cage has now adjusted to being permanently fucked up. My chest wall has weakened drastically over the last 4 years as i lost weight unhealthily from depression. Doing foam roller exercises like this has helped briefly, but it causes immense pain in my chest, like its ripping apart it also hurts my spine. I have extreme pain sensitivity around boney parts because i grew up obese. Now that i am scrawny, im hypersensitive. I have given up on trying to improve myself amd resigned to deteriorating. Someone please help me or just kill me please

    It took me A LOT more than 5 visits for mine to finally, finally get back into place. It'd pop out after a week or so. The last time I had to visit him was maybe 2 months ago, he used this machine on my back that vibrated intensely and he used it a little longer than other times in the past. I *think* that's what might have coaxed it back into it's rightful spot. Don't feel afraid to reach out to me if you're still struggling with this. I had the same issue as you did, 3+ years of pain, it was a nightmare. Wouldn't want my worst enemy to have had to live through what I had to. I've had displaed ribs for almost 6 years now from a horse fall. I've had many points were the simple act of breathing is painful. This is in all aspects of my ribcage but it can be a specific areas at times. I almost find it hopeless by now. I have done message thearpy, physiothearpy, hot cupping, and chiropractic work done on me. It seems like its only instant relief not long lasting. I've resorted to making a fist and keeping myself against a wall then waiting for the pain to stop.

    My 3rd or 4th rib pops out on my right side I do similar stretches like this to get it back in place, it's just what felt natural to do. It hurts like all heck though. Is it normal to have upper ribs poping out like that?

  • @themovementninja

    @themovementninja

    6 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't say it's normal, but it sure is common. It's more common in those who have a head forward posture most of the day (driving, teachers, office, distribution) where the upper back muscles are over lengthened and weak. You may need to strengthen your upper back and check on the tightness of your chest muscles. Let me know how it goes!

    You may find more long term relief by strengthening your upper and mid back muscles and doing the stretching for the chest and front of neck and arms. Sometimes there’s not enough strength and stability where the rib cage meets the spine.

The lawsuit would be negligence on the part of the doctor to ignore that risk.
