We start the video by walking through what’s in the box. We discuss all the tools, attachments, filters, batteries, literature, etc that comes with the S12. We highlight that the tools and attachments fit securely together with a “click”. They do not use compression fit. This, in our opinion, is a good system and it is the same approach used by Dyson cordless units.
We report that the Tineco S12 is a fairly solid feeling vacuum. We show the much less expensive Tineco A10 Hero which does not provide quite the same robust feeling as the S12.
The vacuum comes with two batteries and a discharged battery can be very easily swapped out of the vacuum and replaced with a charged battery. This is a popular feature and one that many folks wish Dyson implemented on their cordless machines.
We test the battery run time for the S12 and compare it to the battery life of the Dyson V10 and the Dyson V11 (two vacuums that are in a similar price range to the S12). Run times for the S12 are good when you consider both batteries.
The S12 does not have power settings like many other vacuums. It makes use of a manual power slider which you can slide your finger up and down to get whatever suction setting you want. This is a much more granular approach.
We show a table of suction power in Low and Max power modes for the S12, the Dyson V10, and the Dyson V11. The S12 has the lowest suction (air watts) in both modes but is close to the V10 in Max power mode.
An “AUTO” power feature controls the vacuum suction depending on the level of dust/debris it encounters while you vacuum. We show this at work.
The control panel sits on top of the handheld unit and has a nice layout. It also allows you to control many aspects of the machine and it provides feedback. We walk through all the different control panel features.
The vacuum has 2 pre-motor filters and 1 post motor filter (which is a HEPA filter). Cleaning the filters is easy. The HEPA filter in rinsable in water and one pre-motor filter can be wiped with a damp cloth while the other can be cleaned using a special tool provided with the vacuum. We walk through using the special pre-motor filter cleaning device.
The S12 has a trigger lock mechanism. With many other cordless vacuums you have to hold the trigger down to get power and some owners say that this can lead to a tired/sore finger. With the S12 you can lock the trigger in place if you want to.
When cleaning low pile carpet in Low power mode we found the S12 picked up small/fine debris better than the V10 and V11, but it struggled a bit more with the larger debris. In Max power mode the S12 picked up more debris than the Dysons when the Dyson cleaner heads had their gaps closed (the Dyson clean heads have adjustable gaps along the front of the cleaner heads while the S12 does not). But in Max power mode the S12 picked up less debris than the Dysons when the gaps were open. We provide video clips of all these tests.
On our tile surface the S12 picked up more debris than the Dysons in both Low and Max power modes, and the gap settings in the Dyson cleaner heads made little-to-no difference. However if you get the Dyson “Absolute” models you will get a soft roller cleaner head. This will perform better than the S12 on a bare surface. BUT there is also an S12 model called the S12 Plus which also includes a soft roller cleaner head. We did not test this S12 soft roller cleaner head but feel that it likely performs similarly to the Dyson soft roller cleaner head.
I would also like to point out that I make every effort to be unbiased in my videos. If there is something about a product I do not like - I will let you know!

I purchased the Tineco Pure One S12 yesterday . Had previously been using a Dyson barrel machine and had cleaned in the morning. I was so excited to use the new machine so after 3 hours charging I vacumed my wooden floors and carpets again. I was shocked. I couldn't get over the dust and pet hair the new machine picked up. So far I'm really excited with this machine .

Can't go wrong with the Tineco. I have one of their oldest versions and it still performs like it was new. Recently made some upgrades and they have made some significant changes, one in particular is the Anti-tangle power brush (like to see that applied to the small powered brush as well), I don't have long hair but I do have cats who shed.

Just bought one last week and am loving it so much. Thank you for doing a great review on it. I like the way you have your videos set up with one being the ups and the other being the downsides. My only question now is which one picks up long dog hair better? I don't own a dog yet but was kinda wondering which holds up the best. Thank you for your vedios and have a great day!

Wish that Tineco would include the Anti-Tangle power brush on ALL of its upper-tier stick vacs. Have it on my A11 Pet and I get no hair (fur in my case) wrap on the brush roll. Works well on hard floors as well as low-pile rugs but I opted for the hard floor soft powered brush, nice polishing affect at an additional $99. I have the tools that came with an older model that has the 'friction fit' (compression?) style of attaching. I especially like the extra length of the crevice tool w/o the brush end and its flexibility for getting under major appliances. The brush at the end of this version hinders access to those spaces. First I want to thank you for all the work that goes into doing these videos. I just purchased this s12 plus today. I currently have a Dyson V11 Torque Drive that I'm not 100% sold on. I dislike the connection to the wand, it seems wobbly to me especially when using the wand in the air. You showed the s12 wand connection and also kind of shook it some to show how sturdy the connection is. That influenced my decision to try this vac. Thank you again for such a thorough video.

@@XL_BEAR S12 Plus all the way. I returned the Dyson V11 a few days ago. The S12 is the answer to all my needs and wants after trying 3 other cordless vacs (Moosoo, Shark F80, V11). They all had good and bad points so I was torn about which one to keep (except the Moosoo which I wouldn't even consider unless for very light duty on a tight budget). I'm thankful to this channel for helping me to consider Tineco (a brand I never heard of). The S12 is the ultimate cordless vac with plenty of suction power, 2 removable batteries, every attachment you could ever need (Plus version), sleek modern design with an awesome lcd display, trigger lock option and I could keep going.. maybe I will do my own video sometime. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

@@XL_BEAR I agree that the Dyson V11 has more suction power, but I have seen that the Tineco has more than enough power to get the job done. Along with all the other features it was an easy decision for me.

I am not paid/affiliated with Tineco at all. This vacuum cleans up like I have never seen before. This unit (in Canada) comes without the soft hardwood brush which is available in the USA and not Canada- who knows why as an option. It can be purchased from the US for $$$ usd. Otherwise this thing is amazing. I am trying to figure out if A11 tools fit S12 ?

I keep hearing everyone say how good it is and I honestly think it looks awesome...so I'm giving it another shot. I used my S12+ to clean an extremely dirty carpet and it was regurgitating from where it was sucking up the dirt, I kept getting the "air channel blocked" warning and the air that comes out from the hepa filter up top smelled horribly. I contacted Tineco and they said they would send me replacement parts and see if that solves my issue. I hope it does. I really like this vacuum but for $600+ it should not be dying on me after one little dirty carpet.

I think it’s worth pointing out a S12 design flow. When you placed it flat on the floor, look what happens with the cleaning head, it’s lifted above the ground. You won’t be able to clean the floor under a bed unless you place the vacuum on the side. Not sure what happened here. Dyson v10 or v11 can be placed flat making them easier to clean under a bed.

I don't think I'd use the auto mode. Consider this situation - it isn't sensing much dust, so it stays on a low power setting - but the REASON it isn't picking up much dust is BECAUSE it is on a low setting! It would be much better if it could actually detect the amount of dust ON THE SURFACE. 😃

Great appliance, good performance however build quality suspect. The clips that secure the wand to the bin is flimsy and didn't last 2 years. Same for the clip that secures the wand to the motorised hard floor head. Tineco also does not provide replacement parts so the only solution is to purchase a new appliance.

There are bristles inside the cleaning tool. As the filter spins against the bristles, the dust gets rubbed off and sucked into the dustbin.

Good question. I don't recall doing the test but I don't think the S12 has anti-tangle technology. So I suspect there will be a fair bit of tangling in the brushroll. The Tineco S15 (I've done a video review and tested it on hair) does have anti-tangle technology.

1 year Pure One S12 Plus. The vacuum feels great! The dirt collector is too small. And you get dirty emptying it. Too many steps to clean. I ran mine on manual full power to get good results on my carpet. The Tineco S12 One Plus, OVER HEATED every time. It took 1hr for it to cool down. Toooo many filters to clean. OMG! RETURN TO AMAZON. V11 Outsize please.

You seem to be grappling a bit sometimes regarding how to separate information between the two videos. You are the ONLY channel I know of that does separate "likes" and "dislikes" videos, and I find it quite bizarre. Just do ONE video, freeing yourself up to talk about whatever you like, whenever you like! 😃 Have a summary right at the beginning if you like, of all the pros & cons - many of us could actually then skip the rest of the video. I do like your reviews a lot though, and thankyou.

Tineco's customer support for consumers outside of the US (I'm located in Canada) is really poor. You cannot buy most of the replacement components from the Canadian website, even though they are in stock in on the US site (and the US site will convert currencies - it just won't work for shipping). There's a phone number you call that goes unanswered, and email correspondence is very slow with getting one reply per 24 hours that comes in between 2am-4am EST. Just a heads up for anyone else like me who isn't in the US, and who is trying to choose between the S12 and a Dyson!
