For the people who dont understand why the audience is sitting quietly.. it was a sign of respect. Back then people actually wanted to watch the entire show, hear every note sung, see every move made. You cant do that if you're standing and screaming now can you?

@brandy012173

@@FleurRebelle Never claimed to be. But I can imagine what a freaking exhilarating JOY it would be if my audience’s energy and mine bounced back off each other. To be a showman that could pull up the energy from a group of people then give right back to them! That has always been a dream of mine. At least I can dream. But I sang with a band once at a kind of club that had like six bars and indoor and outdoor areas. The outdoor deck had 3 floors which was where the band was. They let me do one whole song all by myself. I had to be so brave. I would have been scared to death if I had to wait one more minute to start. An ya know what? People started coming out of nowhere to see who that was that was singing. It was me! I killed it! One of my favorite memories ever!!

If I were on stage, personally, with no one in the audience moving with basically crickets in the background, I would be wondering if I was terrible or what. No feedback would freak me out. Again, interesting to watch her thru the years, as she evolved and grew her performing character. At this point, 1978, she is in the very beginning of her solo career. She'd left her former spouse in '76, and had to go out on her own so a show had to be developed ... and here are 'early days'. Some of this patter and some of the dance moves she continued to use as she polished herself over time, becoming less contrived, and more attuned to herself and what the audience liked. A performer like no other - slick, beautiful, intense and in control! My adoration of her knows no bounds.

This type of performance, it’s quite likely she was singing live. But, often, during this time, singers would lip sync for televised performances, because the microphones were not advanced enough to get a good quality recording without recording the cacophonous noise of the audience. HOWEVER. She did perform without the benefit of auto tune. Which is, sadly, almost unheard of in popular music today.

Though yes, I do like to concentrate and take in every tiny detail of a performance so as to never ever forget the experience!
I saw Ike and Tina in Oregon in the early '70s, and she lit the place up with her energy. She was phenomenal!
It's bittersweet that now that she has passed away that so many have only just discovered her. ❤️
I can hear the disco sound added to Proud Mary. Tina looked amazing, the performance was amazing, she was amazing.

The definition of ATTITUDE....like nobody else can do it. The Great TINA.
no one ever brought more energy to the stage....incredible

This type of performance, it’s quite likely she was singing live. But, often, during this time, singers would lip sync for televised performances, because the microphones were not advanced enough to get a good quality recording without recording the cacophonous noise of the audience. HOWEVER. She did perform without the benefit of auto tune. Which is, sadly, almost unheard of in popular music today.
