Timeline of How YAO, T-MAC and the HOUSTON ROCKETS FAILED to Win an NBA Title | RISE and FALL
Спорт
After Houston was awarded the 1st overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft, they selected Yao Ming. In the 2004 off-season, they saw major changes in the roster by trading for Tracy McGrady.
Still, the duo was plagued with injuries - of the 463 regular season games for which they were teammates, Yao missed 146 and McGrady 160 - and did not win any playoff series.

@@jaywarvz fun fact. As a sophomore in Houston I broke my ankle playing basketball. My physician was the same who worked with Yao. I mean, I don't necessarily know about winning the title, but I do know that, if the Rockets had won that series, it would have resulted in either a team with Tmac on it or a team with Melo on it (since the Lakers played the Nuggets in the WCF that year) playing in the NBA Finals, which would definitely be an interesting scenario.

wow this such a great video. A lot of these old coverages, games, and videos are hard to come by too. Neverthless, that rocket team that pushed the lakers to 7 games with Yao for 3 games and no tmac was a championship caliber team. They had the stars (if uninjured), wing defenders in battier/artest, role players like aaron brooks who won most improved, young kyle lowry, carl landry, scola, etc. That had everything a team needed to win a chip. I miss that team because despite the stars they pushed the lakers to 7 games because they played hard and was scrappy.

I understand T-Mac frustration in Orlando and being the only guy there doing everything since Hill was always out, but only if he stayed that off season since they drafted Dwight and just being about to grow with him. Dwight took them to the finals in 09, he was never injured like Yao in T-Mac’s prime and as offensively Howard was it would’ve take a lot of stress and work off on T-Mac’s body every game. Just a huge what if on its own

So in this video, I realized that Tmac really changed the culture for the Rockets. Yao and Francis was a dynamic duo but they didnt make the playoffs with Francis running the show. Tmac on the other hand, though disappointing, they made the playoffs and had made the Rockets a playoff contender team for years. Their best chance was in 2009, had they been healthy I think they would have beaten the lakers in 7. Beat the Nuggets in 6 and we were also robbed of a possibility of a Prime Dwight Howard vs Yao Ming finals matchup. Tmac vs his former team. They got Artest and Battier locking up the wings, Scola who is very underrated and Aaron Brooks who was playing decent that time.

my fantasy scenario maybe in a parallel universe: Yao recovers from his injuries and doesn't retire. He says screw it I'm goin to another team, he ain't the player he used to be but still a quality big man and joins Lebron, DWade and CB in South Beach at the 2011-2012 Season.
