Timeline of a White Dwarf

46!
White Dwarf stars are basically the final-mode of low-mass stars like our own Sun(0.1~8 solar mass). They can be hot for a long time, but not forever.

    Fun fact: black dwarf will make reaction with black material for 10 in 10 in 25 exponentiation. Its veeeery many zeros. After that, 1% of dwarfs (very big ones) will make supernova. These will occur if pycnonuclear (density-based) fusion processes much of the star to iron, which would lower the Chandrasekhar limit for some black dwarfs below their actual mass. If this point is reached, then it would collapse and initiate runaway nuclear fusion. it takes 10³²⁰⁰ years for this to happen

  • @robinchesterfield42

    @robinchesterfield42

    As I understand it, black dwarfs and iron stars are different things, though they both involve dead stars and take forever to make. A black dwarf is a white dwarf that has cooled all the way down. An iron star is way weirder, and involves waiting amounts of years so long that your EXPONENTS have exponents, for quantum tunneling to eventually turn all its atoms to iron. Also hello fellow Kurzgesagt fan! :) (Have you seen "Timelapse of the Future" by Melodysheep or "Age of the Universe" by MetalBallStudios? Both of those videos are really cool and go into the iron star era.)

And @ILoveRumania, you should definitely see the MetalBallStudios video as well. It might give you a lifelong phobia of blue cubes, but it'll be worth it. :) (Side note: The other day, I wanted a name for a character that was all like DEATH and DARKNESS, but instead of the usual skulls and blood motifs, I decided to go *all* the way with the death concept--as in, the death of the UNIVERSE. Hence, her name was "Entropy Ironstar". SCIENCE EMO. :P)

    After they cool down, they can go one of three main ways: - Eventually they may lose their orbital momentum to gravity waves, and fall into the central black hole - If protons decay, they will very very slowly evaporate - if protons do not decay, they will, even more slowly, turn into iron stars thanks to rare, quantum tunneling induced fusion events. Further down the line, if i remember correctly, they will become neutron stars, then black holes, and then evaporate via hawking radiation. Anyway, I quite like your videos The music in this one in particular is really nice

    These little guys, I mean, large guys, are unable to cool down fast because most of the heat loss that is occuring is radiation. Betelgeuse was the one that exploded on 2021 into a blue dwarf

    Betelgeuse will become a Pulsar (or Stellar Black Hole depending on its mass) not a blue dwarf. only red dwarves can turn into blue dwarf phase if not instantly collapsing into white dwarfs.
