Thrift Tip: For "classic" basics, if you are female, look in men's. 1. Some men's stuff fits great and made of better materials, (less elastic), muted colors etc., BUT ALSO, huge thrift stores that handle a lot of volume will often put women's basics in the men's small sections because the item doesn't have the obvious trappings of mainstream female coded clothing (floral, patterns, cinched waist, etc.). I've found killer women's vintage jeans, plain boxy cotton tees, a jacket, in the men's or large boys sections.

Though I appreciate and understand the merits of timeless pieces, I think sometimes people can get too caught up in everything being timeless. I look at old pictures of myself wearing clothes that I'd never wear now (because they don't suit my style), and yet I still remember amd appreciate how much joy it brought me to wear those pieces. Its almost like these non timeless pieces are a time capsule of my life/style evolution, and there's something comforting and nostalgic about them. And I'm sure my future self will think the same of some of my current favourite clothing pieces 😊

So I’m a ***lover*** of denim, and nothing is less trendy than denim. Denim trousers, jacket, shirt, jeans, dress etc. But what makes it particularly un-trendy (not a word) is it’s all about what fits YOU and there’s a fit for EVERY BODY. Flared, skinny, straight, high waist… ugh, I just love denim

I'm sick of the neutral T, loose trousers, white button down, .... capsule trend. Yesterday I pulled out my coloured items and put together some outfits with at least two coloured pieces each for spring, took photos, and will work my way through them. On a visit to London it was the people wearing some colour who looked interesting in a sea of neutral clones.

Yes, I do totally agree with this. The big majority of my closet is with colorful pieces, unique elements and full of prints. They don't fit trends, but they fit my style. I am capable of mixing and matching and I do feel I stand out of the crowd, which might sound pretentious, but I feel that is a good reflection of my personality and how everything I lived has somehow made me this colorful, cheerful and vibrant person I like to show thorough my clothes.

I reconize that. I recently evolved, I was stuck in skinny jeans too. I discoverd that, acually, I like straight fit too, and a bit of flare maybe, I even got a wide jeans I really like. Im currently in the porcess or trying on and ordering and returning new jeans (not really ready to move to different kinds of pants, nor feel any desire really) and having so much fun with it. I still like skinny jeans but I realised I didnt like how they looked with sneakers and thats what I mostly wear at work in the warmer months. Also there was this idea in my head that, since I have a little bum, the skinny jeans makes it look that I have more bum because it is tight everywhere but I realised that, that is not the deciding factor that makes my butt look good. A whole new world opend up to me lol.

I love the idea of having a really paired down and simplistic wardrobe. The idea of loving every garment I own, being comfortable in everything I own, and having fewer choices when getting dressed and packing for trips is so appealing to me. The one weird hangup I need to get over is other people perceiving that I wear the same thing over and over. I don’t know where that comes from and I why I even care. If I have a dress that is comfortable, flattering, and very “me,” why should I care if other people notice that I wear it to every single event?

Tell people you're being European! French? They tend to have fewer, more beautiful things (although fast fashion has made inroads) -- and smaller places/less storage. And, sorry to be blunt, but most people don't notice or care. They're too inside their own heads. And if they do care, that's their problem. If Kate Middleton can wear the same shoes, and she's a princess, you can wear the same dress. Good luck!

The body diversity here is the one that has that je ne sais quoi. The espiritu hauraches have been on my wish list for about a year and I plan to buy them when we roll over into May. Also as a large person, I second Eileen Fisher. I hesitated for year because 1- cost 2- I was fearful that on my larger body they would read older than I am. But let me tell you. A sneaker changes everything.

I got $8 pants from men's section that look identical to the Cos ones! I would also add, learn what color white is your white (stark white, ivory, cream spectrum). Your style doesn't need to be 'timeless' to find these pieces last the test of time because they are versatile in my opinion.

There is nothing quite like the fit and feel of an excellently made and proportioned t-shirt. Are you going boating? are you going to walk in a field of wildflowers? are you adding a smart jacket and wowing the dinner crowd? are you hooking a basket on your arm and picking vegetables or going to the farmer's market? are you just vegging with a good book and pie? YES, obviously. Small aside: Sometimes a t-shirt hung to dry on a hanger can, over time, stretch it to change the shape of the neck as well as how the shoulder seams fall. Even sturdy cotton. I found either clipping the shirt to the hanger at the shoulders, or turning it to hang clipped from the waist hem, resolves this. Or just use a drying rack or the back of a chair lol.

I have had an epiphany- your statement “I wear it as many times as I can get away with before washing it” - one of the main reasons that my clothes look frumpy is because I wash them faaaaar too often. My AMAZING mum is a bit of a germaphobe and I grew up washing every item of clothing (with the exception of woollen/leather coats) after every use. This was ingrained in me -Wear it one and wash it, it is gross if you don’t. As an adult this now means I have instilled in me that all of my clothes and my three young children’s clothes need to be washed after a single use. Which leads to a ginormous amount of washing every week (that if we don’t get through leaves no clothes for the week ahead). And because of the HUGE amount of washing I MUST get through, I don’t have time to follow the care directions, check and treat stains or separate clothes as strictly as I should. But if I can shake this, and only wash clothes when I NEED to I will have half the washing and time to do it properly which hopefully will save my future clothes.

Me too, I love my Italian grandmother, she didn't have many clothes and certainly not designer clothes so no logos and not super-expensive, but timeless tailored pieces, I so wish I had asked my auntie for one of my grandma's blouses or scarf when she died, too late now. By the way, wearing tailored clothes helped her maintain her relatively slim weight, as loose, elasticated waistbands encourage overeating. To this day I tend to avoid stretchy, generous clothes that do not signal when I've eaten too much, so I'd rather wear at least one of these: jeans, skirts, blouses, something fitted that I would not be able to wear again if I overindulged.

It was a true wardrobe STRUGGLE for me 😂. So now that they’re available everywhere, I’m basically hoarding “Katherine Hepburn pants” as I think of them and T-shirts that aren’t stretchy and skin-tight. Ha !! I was literally JUST playing around in my closet to find ideas for my summer wardrobe and to see if there was anything missing. I just finished making adjustments to some of my t shirts and as I was cleaning up, my eye was caught by my husbands vast collection of short sleeve button up shirts. Now, it helps that we suit the same colours here … anyhow I tried one on and was like, DAMN! How was this not obvious to me before ?!?! I adore a good button up shirt and I have never considered a button up short sleeve for summer. Which will be such an easy find at the thrift store. How awesome that I came down for my lunch and here was this video waiting for me !! And, yes. I love loose tailored pants but I don’t have any that are lighter weight for warmer weather. Those two items will seal my summer wardrobe. I almost always wear men’s pants so this will also be an easy find at the thrift store. And they will last me for years. I know I won’t get tired of them because they are just a different version of what I wear all the time already. Sometimes the obvious just isn’t obvious to me. Also, you featured a scarf in one of the jewelry shots and that is something I am currently obsessed with. Silk neckerchiefs. Again, something that should be easy to find second hand. Delightful and inspiring as always, Hannah ❤

I’ve really been enjoying your videos over the last few months. Even though our styles are different, I’ve really been drawn to your content because of your focus on finding beauty and excitement in quality and pieces that fit your lifestyle. I’ve found great leather jackets while thrifting. I have a super soft classic tailored style that often replaces a blazer in my outfits and a long knee length one that I use in place of a traditional trench. On a side note, the hua- in huarache is pronounced as “wa”. I feel like these comments always sound pretentious but I’m just mentioning in case you cared to know.

Looove this video. I’m moving (AGAIN) so I’m decluttering a bunch and realizing how unhappy I am with my current wardrobe. I have soooo many beautiful special pieces that I never use and a lot of super worn out overly casual basics that I’m decluttering. I’m really lacking high quality basics that can be the backbone to my special pieces. My dream self would love to saunter around in beautiful caftans and long skirts all the time but my practical self needs some structure too.

These are the pieces my wardrobe needs (except a leather jacket) but all black versions. Thank you for the huarache reminder! My mother also always had pairs when I was growing up. I actually had a pair from justfab many years ago, but as expected, they didn't hold up for very long.

I would also add some turtleneck basics and a straight leg cotton or linen pant (not wide or tapered). They also tend to be more neutral in style and eternal. I like ones with elastic bands, it makes them very flexible also for weight fluctuations or bloating. Also wrap tops. Anything properly tailored to your body will be absolutely timeless.

Love, love, love this. Thanks for making content that supports a more sustainable way of living. Since I started buying fewer, higher quality classic items of clothing, it has reduced my stress so much. Slow fashion has meant that I am not constantly replacing clothing designed to wear out, and getting out of that cycle has been such a relief.

I've heard Hannah say many good things about Quince. I've also heard some folks online saying that bought something, left a negative review, and Quince took down their review. If anyone reading this has bought something from them, I would love to hear about your experience. The conflicting experiences make me nervous to purchase something myself.

My love affair with huaraches comes from my Mom too. She started wearing them in her early 20s, and even in her 80s would say how great she felt wearing them on a summer day with a ‘broom skirt’ and a peasant top. They’re a classic to me, and I was thrilled to finally find a quality pair from Nisolo last year.

As a person who gets super overwhelmed by shopping (the only type of shopping I enjoy is makeup offline shopping. Anything to do with clothes? My brain is popping), and also has a very clear vision of what I want in my closet, I believe my salvation to be a tailor-made garments. Even if expensive, I believe in the long run its would be a worth investment, because I don’t care about being “trendy”, I want to be the woman I am, and look the way I want to look. So, tailor made clothes it is. If only I could sketch clothes (maybe I will learn to do it), so that a tailor wouldn’t need to try and figure out what exactly it is I want😂

Hannah, you're a genius as usual. 😘 Everyone's going on about structured tees but I just can't wear anything structured on my skin, it makes me feel so strained. (Took me decades to figure out why I loved the look of crisp white shirts but hated wearing them.) Linen though! 😍 OMG! Somehow I always end up tearing holes in them, probably with zippers and jewelry, but I gladly replace them because linen tees are such a cool piece that works with any style!

My heart sings when you do style videos as no one shows the wide variety of body shapes, colors, and gender like you do. It's so all inclusive it's beyond crazy good. I watch other channels about fashion and I can't see myself in what they are promoting as most of the time they only show run way models wearing the style they are talking about and I no longer purchase for my fantasy self, in part thanks to another video of yours. ;-) Thanks for being you and bringing us such high quality content for such conceptional things!

Finally got Glossier cloud paint in Swept and I love it. Think it will work well for other seasons too, Have put away MUFE bronzer in marvelous peanut (it's gray, powder) and chanel in deep, which I saw Hung Vanngo apply to a pale person. I may pull them back out again because sometimes I like a little bronze with a little blood red blush. But Swept is an amazing, unassuming color.

I cleared out my closet yesterday, switching to my summer clothes and purged 5 trash bags of clothing that I still need to photograph and sell. I'm so sick of how many clothes I own. None of them have bad quality, but some I don't fit anymore and some are just not my style and I shouldn't have bought in the first place. I'm not buying anything this summer. What I need is outfit formulas to shop my closet with.

This totally isn't meant as hate (because this is my favourite channel to turn on when I'm getting ready), but I low key miss the other intro. It got me more in the mood to hear about beautiful things. Also, I feel like the new intro isn't on par with the rest of your channel, quality or aesthetics in mind. You speak so well, the videos are filmed in such a high quality, the editing is always so crisp, the background looks like a frame from AD, but the new intro looks like a power point presentation for high school. I'll watch every video, bad intro or not, I just wanted to give an opinion as a longtime viewer!
