This is so amazing. Thank you for sharing. I have no experience with this, but you've inspired me. I want to create a little wedding present for a friend using this technique with a photo of them.I had a couple of questions. 1. How do you adhere the skin onto the wood after you create the skin? 2. What kind of black and white paint did you use on the wood when you were preparing it in the beginning of your video (e.g. after you put the textured paper onto the wood). Thank you for any advice you can offer me.

Thank you Mira. I use a fluid acrylic medium to adhere my skins to the panel. I use a black gesso as a base on top of the textured paper, for the white I use a heavy body acrylic paint.

You're welcome Mira, yes, this fluid medium will work perfectly for adhering the gel skins to your panel, however, to create the gel skins themselves I would advise you to get the gloss gel medium by Liquitex (the one with the red label). Hello Denise! I just found your video! Thank you for sharing your techniques, I know many artist keep those close the chest. I read that you print the original images using a laser printer. What type of paper are they printed on? I would obviously have to have a print shop do this for me as I do not have a printer to accommodate my photographs. Can you please share the type of paper you print onto and the weight or texture of it? Thank you so kindly. You have clearly inspired so many!

I use a thin glossy paper (80 lb text) but which paper works best depends on many factors, sometimes even different batches of the same type of paper react differently. That's why I always recommend testing different papers to find the one that works best for you.

Very good work. Congratulations. But how do you do to realise gel skins and how can you transfer the gel skins (very fragile I think) on the panel ? I realise small photo transfers with a Golden medium gel (semi-gloss) but i transfer directly on the canvas firstly prepared with gesso, I haven't understand the process for the gel skins...perhaps it's secret :) Excuse me for my bad english, i am french and i live in Nice (French Riviera).

Thank you for your lovely compliments, no the gel skin transfer is not a secret, from what you write I think we use a similar technique, I too use an acrylic gel to create my gel skins. The transfer process is the same for wood and canvas. :D

Denise Buisman-Pilger Thank you for your answer Denise but my problem is not to do a directly photo transfer on canvas on wood but how to do to realise a skin . In fact, how to unstick the skin. My process consist to transfer directly a photo to a canvas or other support but I don't know how getting a skin wich can be used after on a picture. What a pity for my bad english but I decided don't use Google translate :)

If I understand correctly you are using the direct transfer technique. This is indeed a little different from the gel skins. The gel skin technique is a little more time consuming and involved and a little too complex to explain here. But it is a very popular technique and I am sure you should be able to find a local artist that teaches the technique, I myself teach the technique at my local gallery here in Montreal. I know Golden and Liquitex have representatives that teach all over and I'm sure there are tutorials on KZread. I hope this helps, good luck!
