If you would have told 16-year-old me that she would leave not just her home but her country to go live in places like Japan, America and Canada she wouldn’t have believed you. But at 28 years old that same girl cried her eyes out as she said goodbye to her moms before boarding a plane to join her husband in Texas.
Saying goodbye has always been a massive thing for me but, instead of shying away from it, I have embraced it. I live a life in which I have to say goodbye to everything that is familiar to me on a semi-regular basis.
Goodbyes remain difficult though, which is why I have this uncontrollable urge to capture every inch of the places I visit, so I can hold on to them when I inevitably have to leave.
In my studio, I fuse my photos into condensed memory scapes. To preserve the physical connection to the places I love, I choose to use transfers of the actual photos combined with acrylic paints and mediums to create mixed media scenes that capture the essence of my memories.

Stunning!
I was kind of skeptical of this one but it really turned out awesome.
Thank you 💖 I was really quite stumped when I saw the butterfly. I thought it was quite cute already and didn’t think there was anywhere to go but I like where we ended up 😁
That was my first thought as well. Well done.
A lovely way to memorialize your Grandmother.
Yes! I really think she would have liked it
Hi! What kind of ink / print is it that you're transferring?
it works best with a laser print
You are having some much fun , creating cool cows!
Yes! I'm loving my by weekly Thrift Store Art adventures :)
It's a cute pig and a great exercise in stretching your imagination.
It is! It’s exhilarating to work with unknown materials and transform them into something new 🤩.
It looked like a mushroom creature walking along when it was upside down! I love the creative mood and enjoyment of process rather than result ❤
You're right, it does! I was very much still finding my feet with this one. I'm glad my enjoyment of the process came through 😄
So much better now!
Thank you, we thought so too 😊 It's currently living on our mantle bringing light and joy during the holidays 😄 🎄
I thought it was cute to begin with, but you elevated the look.
Thank you! I had so much fun putting those trees together 😁
So cool! Great job!

Sorry, I’m an artist not a teacher 😅
@@TheArtistAbroad lol, no worries. I get it. Are there any teachers or videos you could at least recommend?
@@raelv504 I did a few technique videos years ago, they’re still on my channel somewhere I think 😅 There are also some time lapses that will give you an idea. Hope that helps 😊

Yours is one of the best explained regarding the different types. Thank you for clarifying that the liquitex glass medium is NOT a varnish and is permanent isolation coat.
REMARKABLE!
Thanks
Hello Denise! I just found your video! Thank you for sharing your techniques, I know many artist keep those close the chest. I read that you print the original images using a laser printer. What type of paper are they printed on? I would obviously have to have a print shop do this for me as I do not have a printer to accommodate my photographs. Can you please share the type of paper you print onto and the weight or texture of it? Thank you so kindly. You have clearly inspired so many!
I use a thin glossy paper (80 lb text) but which paper works best depends on many factors, sometimes even different batches of the same type of paper react differently. That's why I always recommend testing different papers to find the one that works best for you.
So cool. And the website looks great too.
thank you :)
Nice! Beautiful work! Super glad you guys can at least sell your stuff now! You guys have to wear masks 😷 outdoors 😳? Well at least you guys aren’t on lockdown like Victoria BC!
This was back in July of this year, during the event all the exhibitors were required to wear a mask and had to step out of their booth when people wished to enter. For many of us this was the first time interacting with collectors in real life in a year and a half, it was a wonderful experience!
I have to say over the years going to Art walks, Art Festivals, Outdoor Art Exhibition, Etc... most of the Art is considerably better overall than the big-name art gallery's, Action house sale's, not all but I would say pushing 85%
Wow, that is so interesting, thank you for sharing. What is your favorite art event to go to?

This was SO helpful, Denise - thank you! 😊
Looks great! (This is Steph! 😊)

Congratulations Denise, it's wonderful ! Do you use a laser or inkjet printer for image transfer ?
