He'll be sorely missed. One of the last of that great generation of commentators and analysts. In a way he's probably delighted, as the GAA, like every other institution in this country, is now contaminated with woke ideology and gender quotas etc etc. Pat spoke woth honesty. But his language, like the comment about the "GPS..sports bra", unfortunately would be considered offensive in today's woke world. At least we have the videos, and memories of fonder days. Go n-éirí leat Pat

Glad he's gone, not one interesting thing said his whole life. Can rte get some people to actually analyze the game and not stir up vitriol.

Be careful what you wish for. Pat leaving is the final nail in the coffin of the Sunday Game. Mark my words

@@seanthorntonthornton nah, the final nail was Joe brolly gone. Pat was never supposed to be the main show. Joe could get the soundbites, get the vitriol high, and also tell you who was playing where and what tactics and who has been good during the year, and what players to watch out for. He was also a very good pundit at arguing for teams that were not his own. Often going the distance to get the praise in for a team like Dublin, Kerry, or anywhere if they played well. With Joe gone, and others, pat became a broken record. Pat never had the analysis at all. He had a place, but not as the main talker on games. I do agree that it could become souless but that is rte fault, there are pundits out there that can have the banter, stir stuff up, and also tell us interesting tactical stuff that's going on in the game.

wow, you must be one of these Nordies that Pat was on about. Absolute rubbish football being played, It might have been competitive but as a spectacle was pure rubbish. Thankfully, Galway and Kerry put on a show 2 weeks ago. Imagine a northern team in the final - puke football was a mild comment in fairness

@@mossieq7093 I dunno what the puke football comment is about. Nothing I said was wrong. When they anyalyze a foul from Kerry he just comes out with a soundbite, when they anyalyze a bit of okay from any team he doesn't like, a lot of the time he doesn't even talk about what's in the video. He will often ignore 3 score replay in a row and then comment "this is the jim defence one" so he's been watching the whole time but acting as if the videos are playing through a point he was making and he needs to finish making it before he can comment on what they are showing. Seriously since Joe left we haven't had spirited debates about switching up defence tactics, about taking off a player who was under performing. Telling us about open space and stuff we can't see on the TV. Pat does none of that, none. Rte pundits are usually cult of personality people. And he's one of the worst for it. All you have to do is turn on the women's football to see the women anyalyze better. They made the men look like out of date record players stuck on loop. We don't need a personality to enjoy it, we need intelligence, and pat has none.
