Time Stand Still Bass Cover HD
Музыка
My wife actually requested that I post a song today. I normally don’t do requests but seeing as it’s our 25th Wedding Anniversary, I’ll make an exception. Lynn has always been my biggest fan, though I think she became an even bigger one when I started playing with headphones on. Earlier this year, Lynn wrote a beautiful letter to Rush and sent it (along with a picture of us taken at one of their shows) to their management company in hopes of having it autographed as an anniversary gift for me. She was a bit upset that it did not happen, but the touching letter she wrote meant much more to me than an autograph would have. Rush’s management sent the picture and letter back with a short note and some trinkets which was nice of them to do.
The odd looking picture is of a paving stone Lynn and I had made and installed a few years ago at our favorite concert venue, Bethel Woods (site of the original Woodstock concert) in the town of Bethel, NY. If you can't read the inscription, it says, "Troy & Lynn - Time Stand Still." I’m not a terribly sentimental person, but I guess you could say that this is “our song”, or one of them anyway.
The song is ”Time Stand Still” off of the “Hold Your Fire” album which came out in October of 1987.
I'm not crazy about the blend of the bass and the music on this one. I think the bass sticks out a bit too much. I actually went back and rerecorded this song, along a few others from the same sitting (which is something I very rarely do). In the end, I wound up going with most of the songs from the original batch.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Peart. You were a third of the most profound and influential musical act to grace western society in the modern era. May we meet again someday.

2:40 is probably my favourite thing geddy has ever written. for an album people classify as to synth heavy, it's got some of the coolest moments of their career, even tai chan has a cool bass line

That's one of my all time favorite lines of his as well. It's funny, but that part was always a hurdle when playing this song. If I was going to screw up, it would be at that part. But with the Wal, this and quite a few other riffs that I'd struggle with on any other of my basses, just flow. Honestly, I couldn't screw them up if I tried.

Just watched it for the 9th time. So much variety throughout the whole song. I had no idea just how complex it is. TJH is a monster (pardon the pun) for playing it. Geddy is a god for writing it.
Another master class by Troy!

There is a lot going on in that song in the bass department. Which you have excellently demonstrated for us. This song means a lot to me too. Now with summers end and the cold weather coming. Time passes way to fast!
Just a coincidence that Rush announced their Time Stand Still movie on Facebook today? 😄 Great cover.

I've realized that I've plucking too hard. I thought the notes we're too quiet when was playing fast. Turns out the slow notes were too loud. XD I'm also trying to play Seemann by Rammstein, which isn't a problem with speed but instead with left hand trying twist and stretch itself into the positions I need for the song.

Not that she ever complained but I don't know how she put up with it. Not that I play loudly at all but I'm sure it's still slightly audible downstairs. Thanks. It is a Wal MK2, very similar to what Geddy used on the album. It has a very unique and distinct tone. The pickups are made by Wal as are most everything on the bass and can only be found on their instruments. They will not ever sell a single component.
And somehow Lee has to sing over that!!
