Love Rod Woodson! He and Troy are my 2 all time Steelers faves. I remember seeing an interview where he said that he didn’t start getting comfortable playing CB until his 3rd or 4th year in the league. I think his background as a safety is ultimately what made him so physical as a CB. When other guys were comfortable making “business decisions” Rod was always trying to run through a joker’s face. And he still holds the NFL record for most return TDs in a career. 🐐

Rod Woodson is one of my all time favorite Steeler. Love watching him play. Did not know he was a natural safety. Now knowing that made it even worse for us not keeping him so that he did not play for those other teams.

If you can find it Watch some of his first three seasons when we were rebuilding Beat Houston in a game where he ran an interception and a punt for scores

I started watching the Steelers in '84. Lambert was on the way out, so the biggest stars I got to watch were John Stallworth, Louis Lipps, Mike Merriweather and Bryan Hinkle. That was until Rod Woodson came along in '87.

Can you imagine how many more interceptions he would have if he'd played safety and that explains an awful lot why he was such a great run support hating corner back because he was really a safety at heart

Co-worker bak in the day always argued deion Sanders was better. I kept telling him Sanders didn't hit! Then walked away.
