Time Lapse Building a Teleprompter Wedge Shell

Here is a short time lapse video of building a teleprompter wedge shell for an artists Rat Sound provides touring audio for. There are no drawings other than a few preliminary sketches, the build took about an hour on Saturday, 3 to 4 hours Sunday and shipped it out on Monday.
In this KZread video, the speaker showcases the process of building a teleprompter wedge shell. They explain how they made cuts in the wood, used water to make it bendable, and filled the void with wood glue to secure the shape. The dimensions of the shell are designed to accommodate a 24-inch monitor, and the speaker emphasizes the importance of creating a design that is both functional and visually appealing. They demonstrate mounting the monitor to a wooden block, painting the shell, and adding rubber cushions to prevent the monitor from wiggling. The speaker also discusses the challenges they faced with space and how they adjusted the shell accordingly. In the end, they showcase the finished teleprompter shell, highlighting the attention to detail and the techniques used in the project.

    Paul Morini I enjoy doing custom building for clients, I made a different version similar to the teleprompter shell that matches the wedges and holds set lists and has a light in it for Pearl Jam. Troubadour has a custom single 18" cab I made that tunes up similar to an L-Acoustics SB28 and fits under center stage as well as caster plates and large grills and lid to protect their 4 SB28's. Rusty's on the Santa Monica Pier has a custom wall panel plate to cover the snake inputs. It is really fun to be able to create things that solve specific issues that can not be purchased elsewhere. Thank you for commenting Paul!

    Wicked stuff man! Nothing better then seeing a boring piece of MDF turn into a piece of video/audio gear! I would totally dig more build videos like this.

    I did it by cutting some kerfs in scraps of the same type of wood of wood I used for the build. The blade thickness, wood thickness and distance between cuts all have impacts.

    With the Advent of iems how many people are really using stage monitors as a percentage for audio like to hear your perspective Dave thanks

  • @DaveRat

    @DaveRat

    4 жыл бұрын

    In ears are great for hearing but they also are intrusive to the person listening. Stage monitors aren't just used for rock shows they are used for all sorts of events for people to be able to hear what's going on. Even when in-ear monitors are used, stage monitors are often deployed as a backup system or to present a reference point for people that aren't on ears.
