Time is Not On Your Side! Native American (Navajo) Teaching.

This video made free by our wonderful Warrior Producers.
Learn More: producers.navajotraditionalte...
In the Traditional teachings of our Navajo People….. they say there is a time to be an infant, a time for
adolescence, a time to be an adult and a time for old age.
One cannot walk the beauty way path as an adult if they are still behaving like an infant.
This goes for all the stages of life. Also it is heavily emphasized the importance of avoiding
procrastination.
This will eventually reflect bad on you and eventually your family.
Instead do what you say you will and do it quickly.
These teachings are ancient but still relevant today. In fact maybe more relevant today than before.

Please know I am trying to help... Depression comes from trying to live up to standards that weren't meant for you. If they were, you would be on the same page as others. You're putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to conform when you're meant to stand as an individual. It takes courage, but it's better than being someone you're not. The standards are not realistic. Most are faking it anyway and dying inside. I hope that you learn to let go and live in YOUR truth.

In the west, we are brainwashed to be "productive" and not to "procrastinate" with the ultimate goal of just molding us to be obedient workers for somebody. But this gives much deeper meaning. It's about your growth as a person on emotional and intellectual level, and also as a part of society and effect on your family. And also, what I like very much, getting rid of unhealthy childish emotional attention-seeking patterns. There is deeper reason why western society tried to eliminate all these wise traditions that knew these things, and were living much healthier lifestyle.

Time and life are one in the same thing, to waste time is to waste life, the true measure of time is the measure of passing of life. Procrastinating leaving things to the last moment until you are forced to act, means being unable to plan them properly, to carry them out well but that also means waiting until you have planned them out and carry them out at the right time and not rushing into them, planning, preparing and knowing the right moment to doing them. Patience serves those best whose ego is least, is all about doing things at the right time, not allowing your ego to force you into rushing into them or procrastination and fear delaying you are forced into rushing them.

Wise people will sometimes poke us into action.....here we are being admonished to make the best use of our time. In our constant quest for improvement remember life is the journey and not the destination! We tend to be so fearful of death that we don't actually live. Fear helps the procrastinating....." If I don't start I don't fail" "I'll do it but after my show.....next one, no the next one" etc. Thank the creator he wasn't watching tv when you were made!! Thank you for the wise words. They help. Shade and sweet water to you and yours.

Thank you for sharing this valuable teaching of your people. Procrastinating creates a viscous cycle of self loathing that leads to more procrastinating, and more self loathing.

My mom who was a survivor of WWII. Taken at the age of 9 to never see her family again suffered severely....She would tell me if we don't use it we will lose it as she struggled walking and standing but, only levitated her legs in the evening...Our elders teach us so much wisdom we sometimes don't understand at the time...Now I am the elder living and using what may be painful but, appreciating the fact I'm still here to see the beauty of another day. Have a blessed day

thank you ! i was pondering over the past few days about time and how we "waste" time and is it actually possible to waste time- and the answer felt like it could almost go either way, however, time is precious and to hear these words coming from uncle Wally makes the clear distinction!

Elder Wally, divine thanks....especially for the reminder that procrastination takes oneself off the beauty way path. A smile came to my face/soul when I heard that reminder.

There are few real leaders in the "advanced" world, they've lost touch with the natural world & wisdom.

I wish I would’ve spent less time worrying about other people and more time helping them. You are right and this is a good teaching for me. I will just say I am sorry and turn away. To say this in sort of an Irish way, “That’s all we can.”
