Hey boosted, great video. What are you using for your AC evaporator and condenser? I'm starting a Meyer's Manxter project soon and I'd love to put AC in it with the subie motor. It would have to be a fairly compact unit!

They’re both universal jay air units, The condenser was just one the right size to sit in front of the radiator, the evap is an underdash style but I’ve boxed it up in the front and ducted into the cabin (no room under dash in this model) I did make a video back in about 2010 showing all the system, any questions just yell out

What are specifications of the best gearboxes man can buy and can fit into the beetle? can it be on the stock 1.6L engine? Will it make a difference? Thanks 😊

if it's a stock 1600 leave the stock gearbox, they work best

Thanks gordon, the company was called crankykits but unfortunately it closed down 5-6 years ago, not sure that anyone’s doing them but I have heard someone does the same thing with modern vw TDI starters. Gowesty comes to mind

Hi, it's not a VW engine it is Subaru. have a look through my old videos, nearly all that stuff has been covered. It's very stable at high speeds, it will cruise at 110mph if the road is good enough surface.

Why not just keep the stock motor just upgraded a little like a 1776cc with duel carbs ?

WhiteJawz1 I did that for years, I actually had a freshly built 1776 with twin webers in before the Subaru, I just wanted more power, fuel injection, good fuel mileage, low maintaince and an engine that would last 300K and the subi was the best way to get all that without spending much $$

WhiteJawz1 it varied alot depending on both how I drove it and how the engine was setup. When I had twin 40mm webers it would average 23-24mpg but I did have a supercharger on it for a while, that could be really economical if I drove it sensibly and get 30mpg but if I really got into it and boosted alot it could get down to 20
