Time Doctor vs. Hubstaff: A side-by-side comparison

Wondering what the differences are between Hubstaff and Time Doctor? Have a look at the video comparing the two most popular time tracking systems on the market.
Supported Devices (0:18)
Both Hubstaff and Time Doctor are available across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and through a web app and Google Chrome Extension. The biggest difference here is Hubstaff's availability on Google Chromebook.
Desktop User Interface (0:40)
Hubstaff’s desktop app offers a clean and intuitive design, making it incredibly easy to start tracking time to specific projects throughout the day. Projects can also be created here within the app.
Time Doctor also offers an easy way to start and stop tracking time while showing you the time that’s been tracked to specific projects. However, as of now, there isn't a way to create specific projects directly through the Time doctor desktop app.
Mobile User Interface (1:00)
Hubstaff’s mobile app offers everything needed to monitor and manage a mobile team. Track employee time and location, view timesheets or schedules and check reports on the go. Also, thanks to geofencing technology, you can have the mobile timer start and stop automatically as someone arrives or leaves a job site.
Time Doctor's mobile app is solely focused on tracking time to specific projects. It's also a little less intuitive when it comes to starting your actual timer. The first you're presented with when you open the app is a list of projects you can close out instead of the timer immediately.
Reporting (1:35)
Hubstaff offers 17 different reports to give you a much deeper insight into how your business is operating. This includes everything from payments, invoices, and project budgets to attendance, job site visits, and much more.
Time Doctor offers more limited reporting options. They provide activity summaries, productivity reports, and general information regarding the completion of specific tasks.
Managing Time Off (2:05)
Managing time off is also something you can do with Hubstaff. You can set the amount of time off earned for every hour worked. You can also check annual time off balances, and schedule holidays.
As of today, there’s currently no way to track time off or view balances with Time Doctor. However, you can mark absent or late days on the schedule as holidays, sick days, or vacation days after the fact.
Pricing (3:29)
Hubstaff does offer a free plan with its more standard features, which is a great option for freelancers. The basic plan is ideal for organizations with 10 team members or less and pricing starts at $5.83/user monthly. This plan provides 1 integration and 24-hour customer support. The premium plan is $8.33/user monthly and this includes productivity monitoring, payroll, and invoicing unlimited integrations, as well as GPS features.
For even larger organizations and field teams, Hubstaff offers an enterprise plan, which provides additional useful features like unlimited geofenced job sites and VIP support. When billed annually, this plan starts at $16.67/user monthly.
Moving over to Time Doctor, their plans start at $12/user per month and this is for the business plan. They do not offer a free plan. They do, however, offer a free 14-day trial if you would like to take advantage of that. The starting plan provides all productivity tracking features, payments, and integrations, as well as customer support.
Beyond that, you have the Enterprise plan, which starts at $24/user per month. This offers the features mentioned earlier as well as screenshots, and client login access.
Who Are These Different Tools For? (timestamp)
If you’re just looking for a productivity solution for your office team, both of these options will have you covered. Your preference regarding the interface, depth of reporting and functionality, and additional features needed at specific price points will help you determine your best fit.
However, if you own or manage a remote team, or a company with people out in the field at different job sites, Hubstaff offers more depth with geofencing capabilities and reporting.

Yes why doesn’t Hubstaff sync with Hubstaff Tasks correctly? Also why does it not update when I add a viewer? The viewer can’t see the projects I assign to them. There’s so many bugs in this software it’s useless. I just wasted an entire day uploading information on Hubstaff and nothing syncs or works properly. So disappointed
