Timberjack 360 Rockwell pr75 axle rebuild

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Reassembly of a Rockwell pr75 axle differential. All bearings and seals are replaced, and the gears set to spec. This video is part of my series rebuilding a Timberjack 360 skidder. This skidder had been sent to auction, partially disassembled, and abandoned as a project out behind a shop when I got it. I am completely rebuilding it in this series and will be using it once it is back together.

@@DillonHFM oh i am ..especially the gears they are the same as my franklin ... the frnaklin is alot like your skid king it hinges in both ways in the middle and doesn't have walking beams in the front ..some skid kings came with a swede or franklin type winch ..i see you have a gearomatic on yours....do you sell parts like planetary gear sets?

I can get parts for most things, I am a dealer for aftermarket parts. I do have a swede winch, I will have to check but I think it is a 30. It's off a skid king if you are looking for one. @@spark23ca

@@DillonHFM i might be ..it would ensure i don't need one if i had a spare lol ..i'm mostly looking for the bronze bushings and 3 gears and little washer/bearings ..i think i would be easier putting them on then having one bust ..1 was busted when i bought it and i built it over from spare parts i got with the skidder..i don't know how long it ran like that but it sure did make a mess of the holes for the bronze bushings ...i'll email ya sometime if you like ..i seen an email somewhere on your page thanks for responding

I enjoyed your video way back in 1983 I got my first skidder a case it had rockwell pr75 diff the man I got it from said the only thing to watch for was the pinion nut would loosen and it would i got tired of tightening it and looked up the torque specs it was a lot so I put it to the spec said no wonder it got loose all the time. Well I took it for a test drive on the dirt road made it a 1/4 mile heard a loud noise stopped and shut it down smelled smoke it was on fire and the drive shaft hanging down two times with the fire extinguisher to get it out the pinion shaft was red hot wrung into. Well it took 7 months to get the parts it was an odd ball ratio had to be made at rockwell. Putting it all back together reading through the manual it said plac proper number of shims on pinion shaft to space bearings gess what I didn’t have any spacers and so I knew right away why it got hot. The man should have told me he didn’t put the spacers in I would have never torque it down. The lessons we learn in life can be painful. Thanks for your video

Great job sir! I also have limited spin differentials. My are Clark. The whole axle (differrential and side reductor) is 1 to 26 ratio. How much teeth do your diff have?

Bearings can be ordered from the number on each bearing. Other than that, you can look on google and try heavy truck suppliers. The center section in the same as a truck axle, it just has planetary gears on the ends. There are used parts available as well

I worked in a hydraulics/ machine shop for a bit, otherwise this is just how my brain works. I take things apart, look at them, and fix them. A good use of google usually helps to find parts breakdowns, or for this I found specs for it in a machine manual that I have. If you can find a parts breakdown, you can see exactly how everything is supposed to fit together, and on older stuff, sometimes figure out if anything was left out last time through, and a manual is always good for specifics such as torque or lash.

On older stuff like this, ebay is a decent place to look, I got one from a facebook forum for the 360 as well.@@RamYRN
