-----------------------------------------------------------
About Timberborn:
Mankind turned Earth into a dry wasteland and perished, but some species adapted and evolved. Choose one of the unique beaver factions and see how long your colony can last!
Wet and dry seasons
Prepare your settlement for recurring droughts. Stockpile on food and keep fields and forests alive even after rivers dry up. Rely on both natural water sources and artificial irrigation to keep the land arable.
River control
Redirect rivers, put up dams and dig water canals with explosives - beavers of the future have millennia of experience in water engineering. But be careful, uncontrolled flooding is as deadly as a dynamite blast!
Lumberpunk
Turn timber into sophisticated machinery, buildings, and monuments. Wood is the core resource in Timberborn, but the most advanced structures require metal. To find it, send your scavengers to the ruins of the old world.
Vertical architecture
Create a thriving beaver settlement using a modular, vertical architecture system. Space is limited, so stack lodges and workshops on top of each other, cover hills with fields, and set up a power grid for your growing population.
Day and night cycle
Build a prosperous city with efficient production chains and beaverish nighttime activities. Follow the lives of individually simulated inhabitants throughout their day and celebrate when the next generation is born!
Wellbeing
Satisfy the needs of your colonists to extend their lifespan and make them happier. An evolved beaver's lifestyle is not just "work, sleep and chomp on wood". Balanced diet, decorations, temples, even carousels - you take care of it all.
Beaver societies
Control different beaver factions, each with unique style, buildings, and gameplay traits. While some beavers are expert farmers, another family might rely on rapid industrialization. Choose what fits your playstyle!
Map editor
Play on one of the included maps or create your own and share it with the community! With hills of different height, ruins scattered in the desert, and all life depending on access to water, each map poses a different challenge.
...and more!
We regularly add new features and iterate, based on the community's feedback. We’re making the world’s first beaver city-builder and we want to make it special, so stay in the loop and add Timberborn to your wishlist today!

40:50 The waterwheel is getting movement from the backflow of current. Your water pumps are lowering the water level upstream of the wheels so the current is flowing in reverse. It doesn't make 'much' of a difference, but you generally want to place your pumps 'after' your waterwheels so they can add to the speed of the current as opposed to detract from it.

I can see some beaver rubbing their paws together over the scarecrow science cost, because they were the one to make it cost so much, citing 'extensive studies of birb behavioral patterns' to establish the idea design... secretly they just wanted to go birdwatching.

FYI, you can turn the bad tides off completely if you want if that’s the type of game you want to play. Turning off the bad tides does not stop the bad water sources, so you can still get the ingredients to make dynamite. The game is still a fun and relaxing game to play, even if you keep the bad tides on, you just need to know what you’re doing 😂

Hi, glad to see you back in timberborn. FYI showers + lidos will automatically close when hit by bad water so that won’t infect your beavers, the path from one side of the river to the other going in the water will infect beavers!

The early game lull isn't the game's fault, it's entirely down to how you play. If you unlock the forester first and build it and a lumber mill ASAP so the planks are ready as soon as the first science points roll in, and start with some faster-growing trees for the first lumber "crop", this mostly avoids the lull. If you wait to get a forester built until all the easy trees on the map are gone and then go straight for oaks, you get a lull. Either way works in the end but it's not the game's fault that you chose the second option.

  • @KatherineOfSky

    @KatherineOfSky

    4 ай бұрын

Well it IS. If you choose faster trees you get MUCH less logs and still use up all the available grow area, so you are going to get a lull either way. Using proper trees is clearly the more efficient option.

@@KatherineOfSky What I do is plant a mix of birch, pine, and oak. Then, as soon as the first planting is done I clear the birch and pine planting orders. As those trees are harvested, I swap the birch for pine and the pine for oak. This takes a bit more micromanagement, but means the forester's output ramps up over time instead of being zero for 30-in game days and then suddenly going to maximum. The end-result is an all-oak forest, but this plan gets there without the lull.

@@KatherineOfSky Only if you go way overboard with your buildings. Like 8 Waterwheels which require 40 logs each😀 This way the player really has to think about what to build first instead of just putting everything down at once.

the scarecrow, is it a beaver or the much scarier to birds human? so might need so much science points to do the archeology and reconstruction of their body to resemble the terror from the past accurately makes sense if you think about it

I agree the lull of the forester is a pain. I think its unnecessary, if the forester stays something that needs unlocked, i hope for some middle ground. For instance beavers gnawing down a wild tree will plant another, or a job that is less efficient at planting trees than the forester. For me this would allow even more of a sandbox feel. Enjoying the series, thanks for your time

Since badwater I've been dealin with lots of hunger waves as well. One moment there's an abundance of food, the other they're all hungry. Further in the game, you usually move from carrots to more "involved" food like potatoes or wood, making you reliant on more steps (and more beavers). Having a bad tide destroy lots of crops definitely doesn't help

0:40 The problem isn't that the Forester takes a long amount of time, the problem is that Oaks take a long amount of time to grow. A generally good strategy to use when starting a new growing area is to plant 2/3's of it with Birch and 1/3 with Oak. Then when the Birch is ready to be harvested, replace 1/2 of the remaining 2/3's (1/3) with more Oak and the other 1/2 with Birch. Finally, when that Birch is ready to be harvested, replace it with Oak. This will ensure that you have a 'steady' influx of Logs, not a sudden surplus followed by a long lull.

Early Game Forester: That's exactly what makes this game interesting. Here are some tipps to get your forester super early: 1. Build the inventor and 1x plank production with power wheel as soon as possible (You get the ressources back later if you demolish the power wheel. But reliable power is super important to get the planks!) 2. Avoid building housing until the forester is built (if possible) (Also in general only built the absolute minimum of everything you need) 3. Build 2 Foresters next to each other (they plant treex 2x as fast and you can demolishone later if you want) 4. Plant pines (12 Days Growth) instead of Oaks (30 Days Geowth) -> Trust me, that makes a HUGE difference! 5. Replace around 25% of your pines with oaks step by step Like this I have almost 0 waiting time in the early game on logs (as long as the projects aren't getting too big of course😂)

  • @KatherineOfSky

    @KatherineOfSky

Planting pines is a waste since they take a HUGE amount of time and produce almost no logs. And they still take up an irrigated square.

@@KatherineOfSky We already established our differences on that topic under another comment. As already stated there I also had the strategy of Oaks only like you do and therefore had to wait "ages" on logs in the early game. I can just encourage everyone to open your mind and give pines a try in the early game as nice, quick wood supply.

I did notice with the old system that content creators would try to bump the priority of a building on a platform without realising that the platform's low priority would take precedence; maybe new users found this too confusing which would explain the change. I can see how it would be annoying if you had learned the old behaviour though.
