Tim Wright Fine Violins: What violins did Mozart play?

Today we take a look at two very special violins whose makers are connected to Mozart... Do you know what violins Mozart played?! Find out here...
The first violin in the video is by the Salzburg luthier Andreas Ferdinand Mayr and was made around 1725. Mayr played the violin alongside Leopold Mozart and so was the natural choice to make young Wolfgang's childhood instrument!
The second violin is an incredibly special instrument by Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa. Mozart owned one of these violins as an adult. Both his Costa violin and his small Mayr instrument now reside in the Mozart birthplace museum in Salzburg but you can see their counterparts in our Edinburgh shop!

In my opinion it is nice to talk a bit about the child violin, Mozart had. But WHERE IS HIS MEIN INSTRUMENT??? In my opinion the Della Costa is a great instrument. But his Klotz violin where he compost and premiered all 5 of his VC and the Sinfonie Concentarta K. 364.
