He said something years ago I didn’t like. In this video, he’s making it clear he is a 2a guy. But so many in the comments show such self-righteousness. No forgiveness. No grace. No benefit of the doubt. Zero loyalty. So it goes with the self-righteous, they will eat their own at the drop of a hat. Today they love you and tomorrow they are ready to light torches and grab pitchforks. I will error on the side of grace. I will have conversations with people you may not like. I’ll ask them questions. I’ll love them even though you demand I hate them.

I don't hate him, I hate what he said years ago, I truly hope he has seen the error of his ways as we all should when we make errors. 2A is a non negotiable subject for me, I believe all gun laws are infringements, anyone should own anything they want, and I'm sticking to that.

Spot on. The comment section is out of control. Very insane, Tim appeared on The Shawn Ryan show getting tons of positive comments and it was a great interview. But John has him on and the comments are just purely negative. Lastly, the hate on John is wild to me. The interview was entertaining in typical John fashion and he directly asked him about the elephant in the room from “us”.

As a 20 year old with an actual understanding of the Constitution.... Tims flagrant ignorance (or disregard) of the Constitution truly concerns and infuriates me. "I think gun control is a massive solution. I don't think a 19 year old should be able to buy or have access to an AR-15. I don't even think he should be able to buy a pistol, and fortunately he can't"- Tim Kennedy I strive to be a responsible American citizen. And I strive to be an upstanding Christian. I own lots of firearms, and I carry everyday. I’ll be the first to admit I am no “operator” with combat experience, or lawyer. But I love my country, my Constitution, and I know my rights, and have educated myself about the law, and am perfectly competent with my weapons. And he thinks that the Constitution doesn't apply to me?! I can respect him and his service and also call him out for his flagrant disregard/ignorance of the Constitution and basic precepts of liberty.

"It didn't mean 'regulation' in the sense that we use it now, in that it's not about the regulatory state. There's been nuance there. It means the militia was in an effective shape to fight."" "Rakove won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for History and the 1998 Cox Book Prize for Original Meanings: Politics and Ideas in the Making of the Constitution (1996) which questioned whether originalism is a comprehensive and exhaustive means of interpreting the Constitution" Also this guy is not 2A. Any that limits 19 yr old "kids" from arms is not 2A. Now if you want to change the age of adult to 20 or 21 that's different but if you're an Adult you get the good and the bad when it comes to rights period... I really appreciate John for dissecting and, ultimately, correcting Tim's breakdown of these 4 Fs: Faith, Family, Fitness, and Finances. Tim believes Fitness is #1 too much and gets arrogant about it with the "sovereign" complex. John corrects him that Faith is actually #1. Although not ideal, you can be fat but still contribute to the fight with your intelligence or other skills. You can be a psychological warrior. Wisdom, the Bible says, is supreme and in all thy getting, get understanding. John, once again, maintains the truth that Jesus is our cornerstone. We are warriors because of God. We can execute everything else because of God. Without God, we are nothing. Tim needs to remember that. God is sovereign. Not us. We are managers of these things. Anyway, this is my first listen to getting to know Tim Kennedy. In general, I admire and respect him as a person and all he's become and grown from. Kudos. I don't like USCCA so I'm tired of seeing him in those ads lol. (I went with CCW Safe). I don't think John is simping. He's just showing love. Love you John. Can't wait to take one of your classes. What about having those rights removed for a time after prison to prove you have changed. I do believe in some gun laws. For instance I don’t think a 12 year old should be able to go buy a gun. I do, however believe that a parent should be able to buy a gun for their child of whichever age the parent sees appropriate.

@joelrivardguitar What's "hindering his walk" is that he believes that David beat Goliath because he was strong. Actually, David beat Goliath because his faith was strong. Sampson wasn't strong because he was in the gym all day. Sampson was strong because the Lord gave him strength, and he lost it when he was deceived by Delilah and was prideful. The point I was trying to make, and that John was trying to make, is that, as Christians, our strength comes from our faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit first. It doesn't come from time spent in the gym, a positive mindset, or any other thing we do. Those all are secondary to faith. This guy believes that if he just stays fit, he can stave off all the ills of this world, and that's just not true. It's not true physically, and it's not true spiritually. We are saved thru faith, by grace, in Jesus. Believing that we can do something physically or in our own will to save ourselves is foolish and hinders our walk with Him. Hopefully that helps.

I appreciate that this seems to be more pro-2A than he was previously, but who decides who is a felon? Who is to say what drugs constitute a justification for taking someone's guns away? Many people are on medication, and we know many types of prescriptions are far more dangerous and addictive than pot or shrooms or something like that. And what about alcohol? Yet, what I am truly impressed with, is how you continually steered him, humbly, back to Jesus even in his hubris - centered comments. The Holy Spirit shines bright in those that have it, for those that have eyes to see and ears to hear.

All the 2A drama aside, I honestly don't care about any of that. It matters very little in the scope of eternity. The most concerning thing that Tim said in this interview, I think is that point on fitness above all. As if all physically fit men are good men. It is far more important to be a good man in terms of character. Not all jacked dudes have character. A jacked dude without character is just a thug. And not all men of character are absolutely jacked. Many christian heroes of the faith were weak and unimpressive, but God used them for great things, specifically, because he is given the most glory through showcasing that person's weaknesses. God sees and cares about the heart. David was not chosen for his strength, that choice would have been one of his brothers. He was chosen because of his heart, and was made to be strong supernaturally. Anything less puts glory on the man where that glory belongs to God. That is the case with every single judge including Samson. Most of the heroes of the faith were deeply flawed men but were credited as righteous because of their faith. One of the godliest men I know, father of 3, loving husband, warrior poet in every definition just had an MRI done this week that shows he most likely has MS. Physical fitness is likely not going to be an option for him in the future. The best shape he will ever be in was likely already a year ago and he's only 32. But his physical state is not the measure of his worth or his character. What would my friend think of Tim's message? Is that the message he needs right now? How can you talk about natural selection and darwinian evolution in the same conversation you speak of Christianity?

I noticed that also and was glad to see John push back on that a little bit to the point it was a little awkward. At the end of the day there will always be someone out there who is stronger, faster, taller, etc. than you. Eventually your strength will fail you. Father Time is undefeated. We can’t put our trust in that. That doesn’t mean we are careless but I sense Tim is putting his faith more into man and our own abilities than God. Fitness/health can be an idol just like anything else. He even referenced that his hope was in the coming election. No president is going to save America. Jesus Christ and true repentance will however. He claims to be reading his Bible let’s hope his eyes get opened to the whole truth.

@@ncd7184 100%. The physical stuff including our fitness and attractiveness fades, you blink and you're an old man. Physical attractiveness will fade too. That's why as we age I only fall more in love with my wife because I see more and more beauty in her character. Anything else is denial. Its like a boxer beating the wind. There's a lot of conservative talking points about values that sound right, but they collapse when questioned. Conservative does not equal Christian. Like you said John knows this, but he has so much loving pastoral grace that he takes into these conversations. The one beautiful thing about seeking after the Lord is that it only grows and never diminishes. It also goes with you into eternity. Its what we'll be doing in eternity as it is, only reaching the foothills of the mountains that is comprehending God's glory. I hope Tim finds that or he is going to be incredibly disappointed at 85.

You speak of people who will “eat their own at the drop of a hat.”… to be fair, brother, I don’t think Tim Kennedy is at any risk of his door being kicked in by the comments section or men trained by the comments section. I’m not sue, however, that the inverse can be said. I will error on the side of respecting the natural rights of my fellow man- as they are inalienable gifts from the creator. I’ve been through it, John. I know what the state is and what it is willing to do. I defended myself and my family. I watched the state’s minions lie, manipulate and fabricate, as the state attempted to take my my life from me because I dared to refuse to be a victim. The facts in my case were so immediately apparent that my jury came back, in a matter of minutes, with a not guilty verdict in a capital murder case (and that isn’t an exaggeration). Respectfully, please do not presume to know my heart or understand my perspective while guiding me to read the equivalent of a generic form letter on morality. I can appreciate the point you are attempting to make. I hope that you can understand why it falls flat- not because my ears don’t hear or my eyes don’t see, but because my ears HAVE HEARD and because my eyes HAVE SEEN the damage done when statism is given the benefit of the doubt. Caesar and his men can have what belongs to Caesar. Caesar, however, is not the source of free will or natural rights. Those are a gift from GOD. They do not come from Caesar, and are not Caesar’s to give or take. Please understand, I don’t say any of this out of disrespect for you. If I didn’t respect you, I wouldn’t have bothered to make any comment at all, let alone a response as lengthy as this one. I hope this, at some level, helps you to understand the tone of the response you’re receiving on this video. The thing to remember is that "regulated" in the parlance of the 18th century did not mean restricted by laws. "Regulated" ment trained and equiped to a particular standard. If you watch a movie set in the time period like "Patriot" for example, you hear the characters say things like "were they regulars or militia?" This refers to troop units. The British regulars were the red coats we are all familiar with, the ones that march in a line and shot at close range, but they also had irregular units/troops. These were the ones that did other types of fighting, like various types of skirmishers, sharpshooters, scouts, native forces, militias etc. When reading 2A, lets focus on the part "the right of THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Lets not forget that not tjat long ago, private individuals owned and operated war ships.

I’m ready to forgive and forget but you know… I hope Tim Kennedy reads what I’m gonna say here but I doubt it… What really angered me about what he said was the agism. When he said he didn’t think a 19 year old should have access to an AR-15. I enlisted in the Army when I was 17 years old and I was a paratrooper and fully trained in my MOS before I was 18. I was in the service for a few years and got medically discharged from a training accident when I was 20. I served honorably and would have gone to combat in a heartbeat. I tried to. Many Americans 18-20 years old sacrificed their minds, bodies, and lives in service to our country and our military is filled with 17-20 year olds. It’s probably the largest age group in the service. To hear him say that he didn’t think people in that age range should be allowed to have access to ARs or handguns and things like that just felt extremely disrespectful. It was like he spat in the face of my service and more importantly the service of many other Americans who never turned 21 because they died on the battlefield. Eugene Sledge was 19 years old when he joined the Marines. I’m ready to forgive but I would need to see completely unwavering support for ALL American citizens and to never hear anything anti 2A from him again. I am pleased to hear from him that his current 2A opinions are actually very close to my own and are very supportive of our rights to be gun owners and to get after training and everything. Excellent.
