Tim Duncan - Premier Passer
Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward of all-time. While that is unquestionably true, that doesn’t do him justice. Obviously Tim is a transcendent talent, because what else can you call a player who has won a championship in three different decades? He’s a 5x NBA champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2x MVP, 15x All-Star, 14th on the all-time scoring list, and he is THE San Antonio Spur. He’s got myriad more awards and achievements, but what should be highlighted is the consistency and excellence he has brought to the league. In his 19 year career, he never missed the playoffs.
Also important to note is that since 2000, the Spurs have won at least 50 games every year. That’s absolutely insane considering the fact that the 2011-12 campaign only had 66 games.
As I was saying before, to say that Duncan is the greatest power forward of all-time understates his greatness. Wherever you rank him in your all-time list, his unparalleled excellence over the course of 19 years in the league (and his four years in college), should warrant him at least a conversation into the top 5. I’m not trying to tell you where he belongs, but I certainly believe that what he has done deserves to be argued, at the very least.
Coming from a Steve Nash super fan, I can tell you that I could have done without a Tim Duncan in my life, but while I cheered against him every time he faced a team I enjoyed watching (I also loved those Pistons), I learned so much of the game simply by watching Timmy be himself. He is the big fundamental, and if you ever need to improve your basketball IQ, just pop in a tape or DVD, or hop onto KZread and study some Tim Duncan film. That’s why I made this video: so we could study some of the reads that big men can make, as well as highlighting what might be the most underrated aspect of Tim’s game. His ability to make the right decisions has always impressed. There’s practically nothing Duncan does wrong, so this certainly won’t be the last video about Old Man Riverwalk you see on my page. Let’s all just enjoy what level of greatness Duncan brought to the game.

Touch passes, quick decision give-and-go dishes, precise alley-oops, while talking about the timing, angle, and difficulty of these assists.. Damn. He actually makes them look so easy. Such an intelligent player. Goes to show how having sound fundamentals can get you places - the Hall of Fame. #GOATPF

Comes with his experience
It's funny how Timmy jumps when Kawhii catches the alley ops. Mann, if Kawhii didn't leave they might have gotten another ring or two! Tim Duncan the GOAT!
This isn't a comprehensive compilation of his best assists, but I did put together the best of what I could find from the last 4 years or so. I don't even think these are all the best of those, but he is an intelligent passer, and I felt it was worth making anyway.

I think the Spurs will miss that most about him. Leonard and Aldridge are below average passers, and are Iso heavy players. The ball movement against the thunder in the playoffs at times was lacking, and that's one of the reasons they lost (Spurs bigs were outplayed, old, Parker got crushed by Westbrook). Spurs will be good going forward but not warrior, cavs level unless they get some young playmakers there.
Most underrated elite player of all time
When u see stuff like this now it hits us how we missed his presence. It's as if when he gave u the ball u feel the responsibility to score it. The high and low pass Duncan to Aldridge, we don't see that anymore, very few to the least now. The way he creates space and screen for the other, closing and spreading the floor 😢he just make it looks so easy back then and now we missed all the action.
When people talk about Jokic saying “We’ve never seen a big guy pass like this before” well… I guess they just didn’t watch Timmy! As with his scoring, dude could’ve been a dominant point forward, but prioritized rings instead.
Great job bro. Watching the NBA won't be the same without him. Pure class.
Them hops when Timmy lobbed it to Kawhi LOL.
The most underrated part of his game.
Duncan and Aldridge had a great high low connection
Nikola Jokic is the mobile Tim Duncan without defense. Capable 3 shooter for bonus points, along with having Dirk's fade away in his tool box (obviously not on Dirks level but the eye test shows he has it)
Thank you for your great vedio,TD is a good passer, and great defender can you make a video of TD's good D?
Please, if you have time to spare, make a comprehensive one. He also had a lot of great passes back when he was younger.
wow this video really showed how complete Timmy really was....excellent
For your next one can you do: "Lamarcus Aldridge - AYE!"?
1:36 to 2:03 timmy gets to happy when he gives an alley. pretty fun to watch
Gonna miss this big guy next season
you should do tim Duncan bank shot only video lol
And I am good at passing and rebounding(Hope I have a chance to show to my college coach because I never have a chance...)I hope I can get in the team...
I miss them SPURS!
How do you find all these clips man it must take forever. Love the vids
Awesome
if you're going to do videos on the more underrated parts of tim duncan's game, i'd love to see a video of him moving without the ball for easy points. things like sealing his man when they're above him so all he needs to do after catching the ball is finish.

I was considering that, but I don't have enough access to full games. It'll just be incorporated into the description of one of the next videos. I was going to do one of his screening action and one for his postups, but the Spurs have him screen and then roll into a postup, or screen and then cross screen for him to get good post position...so it'll probably be a combination of both

Boris Diaw premier passer
Great video of GoaTD's versatility as a passer and high IQ defense reader, but in my mind he was best at passing in double team situations. No matter where you send help, he would find the open man, part of his unquestionable intangibles who your everyday brainwashed basketball casual can't detect or appreciate
Duncan is a great passer, however these are mostly created by the off ball movement of the spurs players, man the system there is crazy.

I'd agree. All-time someone like Karl Malone was a better passing big. Or Chris Webber. Or Bill Walton. Or Vlade. On and on.
