Curious if you could attach just the handle to your rig as a side handle? If so what would be your recommendation on how to mount it?

I discovered TILTA 6 months ago, got handles from them and a cage. Found their products of top notch quality. LOL not to long ago spotted an office out here in Burbank CA. I was like wow! They bring their products to the USA. Saw them at the NAB Show in Las Vegas cool stuff.

The Nano ii motor and control wheel are a big improvement over the original Nano gear. The Nano ii hand grip is a mixed blessing. Mine came without a manual and it took multiple emails to Tilta to make sense of it. Ii absolutely LOATH the ridiculously tiny LED screen, as it is barely visible. I fear it was fade out like the one on the original Nano ii control wheel, which always also difficult to read. I also find the Nano ii control handle ergonomics are flawed due to the overall small size of the handle.

yea i don’t understand this company’s obsession with shitty screens i’m sure it was to save money but what a piece of crap it’s almost laughable how tiny and unreadable it is

Good on you for talking so seriously about the need to be careful with your power accessories. Ive fried so many of my cameras, you gotta be SUPER careful anytime ⚡️is involved.

The last update to the nano II added support for dji focus motors would be nice to see how you pair them up. They have also put a limit on how many times the motor will turn if it doesn't catch the gear ring properly, before you just had to kil power or it wouldn't stop.

@@SHVWNCOOPER When the Nano II was first getting released one claim was it would work with dji motors (small print this will be possible in a future firmware upgrade) well the november firmware didn't have it but according to the December firmware release notes this release does. another handy feature the nano II has is a record button that works via bluetooth on the BMPcc 4k for one, where as before you could hook u po say the rs2 with usb and get camera control but that left the usb-c port tied up so you couldn't have an SSD drive hooked up and record to that which meant expensive c fast cards or slower sd cards or the hit the record button to start now get the gimbal back in position to actually film what you want... The advanced ring grip handle also supports the nano II motors. The putting them in pairing mode can be a total pain e.g one lens i have zoom and focus but the gap between the 2 motors is too small to put them both in pairing mode in position so instead its a case of moving the front most motor put both in pairing mode pair then put the front most back into position and then hit the not the record / power button for 3 secs to calibrate both motors... A manual would be really good to have at this point as i'm really good at making random a-b points and can't figure how to clear them. I'm also trying to find a vnd filter frame without glass since i figured a method to apply a gear ring to a vnd filter but not to attach it to a mattebox as well.

Dreamt of the Nano II and still haven't bought one. Can't really put my finger on why I'm not buying one. As a Canon C70 user I'm just not entirely sold yet, but not sure if there is any comparison for the money? As I also use ARG a Tilta motor feels more logical, but Dji motor fits the RS3 better. All the options...

og komodo user - i hate the new design it's going to force me to refigure my gimbal setup. i have tilta setups on all my rigs, from the red to the blackmagics, i just feel like someone isn't thinking a lot of the designs thru esp with the cage designs. i'm on my 2nd nano motor now but the newer model you're using had so many calibration and failure issues i had to return it so i'm hoping the bugs are kinked out soon. i need the extra motor cuz i am a solo shooter and pull my own focus. i'm trying to rig the extra motors for zoom and focus when i use the dzo glass and struggling lol. welcome to the red side tho bro.

Hi Jason, nice video! Do you think the Tilta breakout box will *never* be RED approved? Has it been out long enough for that to have been approved? Also, why do you have the DZO Catta zooms over the Laowa zooms?

  • @JasonMorrisphotocinema

honestly I have no idea what RED will approve. Certainly new to that system. I have both the DZO catta zoom and the Laowa Ranger Zooms. The Laowa ranger is slightly sharper and better build quality in my opinion
