This was the first time I’ve ever seen tilly really let go and just enjoy the dance. Don’t get me wrong, her acting has been good but I could always tell she was acting, whereas here it felt like she really embodied the character. Hands down the best she’s ever performed it was AMAZING well done tilly!

This dance suited this young couple and they danced well and deserved their mark, I want Tilly to win think she is an inspiration to the young ones , such a polite focused young lady , parents will be so proud to have 👌

This was a street commercial couples choice, not a ballroom or a latin. It was synchronised and vivacious and there were no flaws, that’s why they got full marks.

Not sure it would have got 40 if Craig was judging this week but honestly this did deserve a 40. Was just all round an incredible performance

I really like the couples choice dances as it gives the couples a chance to show how good they are as an all round dancer. I think that's why people are hating on this dance though, because it's not latin or ballroom, its far from that very elegant world and THATS the point. It's supposed to be 'stompy'. She threw herself into this dance and as (I think Shirley?) said... she couldn't tell who was the pro. That's when you know it's worth 40. Stop comparing this dance to latin & ballroom and you realise it was bloody awesome!!

I loooove couple's choice and have loved street/commercial dances done as part of that in the past (I'm guessing that's what this is meant to be). However I am still not a fan of this. The sing is not a song that you dance to easily and I think that's lead to this weird, disjointed, messy routine. I'm not bothered it's stompy, I just think it's a bad routine.

Wow! Amazing to see the REAL dancing Tilly. If Tilly is like this - with so much energy - dancing for the upcoming dances of the series, she will sure make it at least to the final! If anyone didn’t like this, then they won’t like the Musical. This was an amazing recreation and I sure enjoyed it! Also well done also to Nikita, taking his time and making this perfect for him and Tilly to dance in front of the judges! Massive well done BOTH to Tilly and Nikita! Keep it up

Amazing dance well worth 40 points

Anyone who didn't like this just wouldn't like the musical (Matilda). This dance was super reminiscent of the choreography from the musical itself. It's in your face, a little over the top, and a little weird. I loved it. If the challenge is to execute the style of the dance (couple's choice - so honestly if you are looking for ballroom and latin technique in this, then you're mistaken?) while honouring the song and the character of the musical - then they were spot on

I love Matilda the musical, but I just wasn’t a fan of this dance. It was good, there is no doubt of that, but wasn’t worthy of a 40. And there isn’t a lot of actual dance content - it’s more like they are copying the musical with all the faffing around?! I like this sort of dance, but not for Strictly when couples are being judged on technique and actual dancing.

definitely deserved the 40! matilda is a great musical and this dance really did it justice! well done tilly!!!!!

I'll admit I didn't enjoy this as much as the judges and everyone else as I absolutely hated this song and just couldn't get past it, but it was really, really great to see this side of Tilly which she's never shown before; the energy, the attitude, her enjoyment and the power of the performance were all amazing. There was so much more of her in it than we've ever seen.

I hated it the song and wasn't impressed by the performance either, although she has great energy. I hadn't heard the song before and have never heard of the musical, but not my style of song nor dance at all. Perhaps that biases me but, although i think she's really good, last night I think they were way overmarked.

I think she danced what she was given very well, it did look like it could've been from a musical theatre performance. I do agree though that the song was awful and I thought the choreo was a lot of thrashing around.

Very naughty 40 imo it was full of zest but overmarked by a country mile no one will convince me this scored higher than the waltz aj and kai danced

Please define "faffing around" and "real content" Musical Theatre dancing is so difficult and I can tell you from experience so much technique and training goes into making it look good, and Tilly absolutely smashed it

Have to say this was a fantastic dance for Tilly. You can see the amount of work she put in and well deserved the top score. Best dance of the night.

Like many of the couples choices this year, a bit all over the place stylistically but actually this worked and it worked because Tilly made it work both with excellent technique and confident performance. 10

40! Much deserved. It was great. And once again people are saying it was because of her father zzzz. Tilly and Nikita are being consistently great throughout the entire season.

If you think about it, this is a dance that the celeb picks it doesn’t necessarily have to to be a “Proper” dance! Dan literally did a TikTok dance for his. They were so in sync and I know we all have different opinions but this is in my opinion is an amazing dance and deserved the 40!

Tilly actually danced this better than Nikita, she totally captured the character of Matilda.

I quite liked this. There is no doubt Tilly was grown into a nice dancer, but I didn't expect Tilly to have that in her! That was a really cool dance. Really captured the essence of the musical. It was really powerful. I was just caught up in the fight against the Trunchbull! Two dance offs in a row, but she's come back fighting!

The setup reminded me of Jamie's jive last year. Wowsers! Maltila ain't messing around today! It was cheeky, aggressive, and this dance is probably the most we've seen Tilly and her personality! (alongside her Charleston) She put soo much effort into her moves and it really showed us how much she does not want to be in that dreaded dance off again. I really hope Craig would've given them a 10 if he was there, but it doesn't matter anyway! Super deserving of 40. My score: 10

It was absolutely not deserving of a 40. So little dance content and while Nikita seemed light on his feet, Tilly came across as very stompy. Ridiculous scoring, especially when compared to the score of AJ

I love Tilly! Haven't seen her in a while. On Master Chef Jr, it's obviously that she's lost a few lbs.

I appreciate the complexity of Tilly’s Couple’s Choice piece; for an amateur, her execution was extraordinary. But a 40? Really? AJ’s and Kai’s Edelweiss Waltz was exquisite. John’s and Johannes’ Chim Cheree Viennese Waltz was magnetic. Those couples deserved 40s as well.

Ok as a musical theatre student, people saying they don’t like this dance need to understand that this is a true musical theatre number. It’s great to see something different and that’s what musical theatre is

i think that was great.

This was a good dance from Tilly but I don’t think it was worthy of a 40 I feel 9s across the board would’ve been more appropriate I feel like they inflated Tilly’s score this week to get her out of the dance off which I feel will likely work but I have a bad feeling it will backfire and hurt John and Johannes since they are low on the leaderboard and Tom and Dan seem to quite a bit of support. Rhys I feel likely has a better chance of improving his Jive in the DO than John Improving his Viennese Waltz. The judges may have made a dangerous move with their overmarking of Tilly I fear.

I agree. I thought this dance was good (I like Matilda and know it well) but I just didn’t see a 40, not in the way the Rhys’s Charleston was an obvious 40 to me, anyway.

Aaaah! She got a 40!! I'm so proud!! That little girl I used to watch when I was a child, on my favourite show, and she's got a 40!! That's my girl!!

That was perfect, the coatography at the table was mirror image, it was really synchronised and beautiful. The footwork was all correct, the performance was all correct, the lifts were there, the acting was there, the style was there, her partnership was there, as far as im aware this is her arrival on a performance basis. If she keeps going like this she'll be in the finals. It goes to show that last week the difference because last week Rhys was in the spotlight and Tilly shyed away but oh have the tables turned (no pun intended) *10/10*

The scoring is all over the place if you look at the dances that have scored 40 over the series so far then this defiantly was not in the ball park. what is it with this year, every couple has to have a 40 score before the final to prove that the show is " to close to call" PLEEZ

This dance definitely has caused a stir! Although I definitely think she earned her 10s! This is how you do couples choice! Playing to the celebrity’s strength and to match your partner with a difficult routine. I loved the cartwheel she did! I have a feeling Craig would have said that some transitions would have been a bit heavy so would have been a 39. However I’m pleased for Tilly to be taking a 40 home. For me because of the heaviness 9!

Score: *9.5* Well Well Matilda!! The characterization was there 1000%. It looked like Tilly literally said "Hold my fizzy drink, Im not going in the bottom two tonight" through her face. The energy and the story was present from beginning to end. With that being said, I feel that the execution could have been slightly polished by like a hair of a percent, but other than that, definitely the dance of the night!

Enjoyed the performance but didn’t think it rated a ten.

wish I could hit the reset button on this series as its the best and as for Tilly, I can't remember seeing a celebrity virtually dance the whole routine on their own. Whether Tilly wins or not no one can take a 40 away from her. They are all so good and the professional dancers opening dances are phenomenal.
