    Just a tip: When wanting to apply stickers perfectly straight, I know this seems counter initiative, spray the surface you’re applying to with glass cleaner, put the sticker on and move to desired location, and you can get your sticker perfectly straight when everything dries. The sticker will adhere even harder over time.

    That cylinder head is a multi-process machining part with serious amounts of expensive and valuable engineering. It is no doubt expensive and still it will require sales of many units to pay the engineer what he deserves for his time. A masterpiece worth every penny. I would be careful too!

    30+ hp on a mini bike is a fire breathing tire shredding white knuckle beast and I want one. I've got a stretched motovox with a predator 224 on it with your common upgrades like governor delete, carb, header pipe, flat top piston, bigger cam, heavier valve springs, billet rod and flywheel but it's not making anywhere close to the power yours is making. I know how my bike feels and it rips but to have 30+ hp has got my gears turning and makes me want to build a new engine. You guys have done a great job on this new build.

    There's easy way to cut a gasket. Hold gasket paper in place, where it will be mounted, and tap all around the outside edge of the thing you're making the gasket for. Tap with a socket extension or small hammer. The sharp edges will cut right through. Do this for the inside cut as well. This is not my idea, it's a pro tip. Try it, you'll like it :)

    I spent all last weekend upgrading my Baja Warrior 200. I’m still gonna get destroyed but oh well 😂. I’m so hyped for this weekend! I still have the original Baja engine on the bike but it now has a full stage 1 kit (last time it only had the straight pipe and airbox mod), I put a Tillotson racing cam in there, and finally I put a torque converter on it and had to modify the crankshaft to get it to work. It’s 10x better than what it was and I hope I’m not dead last this time but either way. This weekend is gonna be a blast! Can’t wait to see you guys and the build there!

    Annealing is the process of removing any "temper," the piece of metal has, it prevents the gasket from getting softer after the engine heats up. Not annealing will make it soften up while in service, which would make it lose proper head bolt tork. oh yeah, nice vid., again, I really look forward to Wed. vids.

    I always lightly chamfer the parting line on the rod and the bearings. This will prevent scraping material off the back of the bearing and the chamfer on the I.D. of the bearing makes sure the bearing crush will make the parting line a tiny bit further from the crank so it doesn't scrape the oil off.

    No assembly lube should be used for a non pressurized oiling system. As thick assembly lube can clog up oiling channels since the non pressurized flow can't remove it. Top tip for you guys.

    @@WyFoster It's a preference thing. All assembly lube isn't isn't thick. You might be thinking of grease. Otherwise you have no idea what you're talking about and should probably do some research.

  • @WyFoster

    @WyFoster

    @Khris Yeet I went to college for motorsport engineering. While I was in college I worked as an engine builder professionally. I have built 20+ of these engines, and have run 7s in the 8th mile and set the world record fastest pass for a small block Honda clone. I'm currently a senior manager in a professional racing team. Assembly lube is thick and tacky in comparison to motor oil. It's job is to cling to parts and lubricate them while the oil pump primes. It is then displaced by the pressurized oil from the pump. There is zero reason to use it on a Honda clone/Predator as the oiling system of a splash lubricated engine is immediate. The crankshaft and connecting rod are rotated through the oil in the sump every revolution. This is non pressurized. Meaning any assembly lube on the bearings will not be able to be displaced correctly and can prevent the flow of fresh oil causing premature bearing wear. Same results if used on the wrist pin and valve stems, lifters, cam bearing surface, etc.

    Around 7:55 john talks about ring end gaps and says the top ring is less than the second ring... And this was when things changed. I attended a class around 1992 where sealed power/speed pro reps came to my school and introduced a new way of thinking on piston ring tech back then. They found the second ring should be greater than the top ring so as not to stack gasses in between the rings and unload the top ring from it's seat on the piston land. I tried this in my 455 Oldsmobile stuff and it worked like no tomorrow. The ring end gap bigger on the second than the first will mathematically allow blowby to an extent to not unload that top ring seal. The second ring is more of an oil control anyway so it was loaded below the top ring and allowed cylinder wall scraping of oil while also holding compression with a controlled release. Since then I gap my second ring about 2-3 thou more than the top ring and can easily make 620hp/600+ ft/lb stock block Olds 455s that can be driven on the street with zero problems. There is a huge difference between a 500hp n/a combo and a similar but different 600hp/600+ tq engines...as you can imagine. These long intake runner olds engines have all kinda velocity past the plenum into the cylinders and they love huge carbs with big venturis which tend to slow down the mixture just enough to stay atomized and also flow just enough to make up to 650 nearly 700hp. I know chevrolet guys won't be impressed, but all I'm saying is I can do more with 462 ci Olds displacement than stroker small block chev stuff at 434 ci if normally aspirated. People build these 500hp small block chevs for nitrous or even boost and the olds stock block can't survive over 750ish hp for long. I could go on and on with this. Ring seal and type of rings and setup are the key and I love applying this tech to these small single cyl engines. I'm still looking and waiting for a dykes type of top ring for these engines and I'll make more power than another with 20cc more displacement! Just sayin'

    If this engine holds together after Mini Mayhem, it'd be cool to see an AMR300 supercharger added to it. For what started out life as an industrial engine, that thing would be putting out psychotic amounts of power by then.

    They would almost certainly have to lower the compression ratio but boost can add a lot of power for sure.
