from someone who grew up in a household where food unfortunately lacked, and saw how everyone around me also struggled like me as a little girl, these videos actually make me sad and incredibly angly at the same time. i appreciate that Courtney can also see this even if she didn't grow up in a situation like mine!

This annoys me so much because when i was young, i grew up in a family where i wasn't to waste food. Seeing these people wasting all this food that could last for months or even years is just very frustrating to watch.

Istg I hate how people waste food for views. And then we have the good people who actually give the food to hungry children or do something else but they don't WASTE the food. I appreciate people like them.

This wasting food content on tiktok makes me furious. I’m in a family of three me, my brother, and my father and my mother left my father years ago. And having one underpaid parent taking care of two kids is super hard. My father doesn’t get paid very often and when he does we can really only afford a weeks worth of food. Sometimes I barely get anything to eat in a day and seeing these rich “influencers” wasting perfectly good looking food makes me so mad because there are so many people starving out in this world and people are just wasting pounds of food that could feed billions of people in this world. It’s the same thing with big food companies like krispy cream that throw out food in the trash. Humanity is honestly going to end up killing themselves just by their selfishness. It’s a shame that humans really are just a waste of evolution and a threat to everything on earth.

That omelette alone , if stirred with actual utensils not hands , could’ve been used to serve many portions for people in need or homeless people.

Yes, indeed. I grew up hungry. My mom swallowed her pride got on food stamps for a little while. We were embarrassed as kids to pay with booklets of Monopoly looking money at the time. After getting groceries we were happy, thankful and humbled to have dinner as a family with what we had. Side note: Makes it worse. I don't think some of these ppl with $$$ are cleaning up themselves. I heard alot just call a maid. Makes me even more disgusted. Like going out to dinner knock the table over and say..What? It's their job😑😑😑😑

I’ve seen poverty. I HAVE. In Mexico, lots of children are malnutrition. And I’ve seen how horrible they live in poor conditions. PLEASE don’t waste food. PLEASE.

The “expired” food that he claims the grocery store sends him isn’t actually technically expired, it’s still edible, it’s just not fresh enough for the shelves anymore. If that’s truly the food that he’s getting then that food would honestly be better off being donated to a shelter or food bank or soup kitchen. And while I can thankfully afford to eat, as someone who regardless has to penny pinch for groceries, this kind of content honestly makes me so uncomfortable. I cannot imagine ever being okay with wasting so much when in my mind I’m just trying to constantly calculate how much it would all cost.

The amount of times I've eaten frozen 2 month old expired turkey or 3 day old milk is more than you probably will ever buy it. You must have never been poor like that but I'll tell you the truth. Even the stuff that is considered "expired" and can't be sold in stores is still usually good for a little while. I work for a certain coffee chain and we haven't been able to donate the food that goes out each day since the start of covid (the people who picked up the food said they weren't allowed to anymore) so we split it amongst ourselves so it doesn't go to waste. I take home all kinds of "expired" stuff and put it in the freezer.

Yesterday we made a cheesecake with perfectly good expired cream cheese (it's VERY expensive here so we couldnt let it go to waste) Also it was expired for nesrly a month and was still perfectly good

These food wasting challenges have been around for years and show no signs of stopping. I remember a few years back ( on KZread) creators were filling tubs full of milk and cereal for 🤪 funny 🤪bath videos. Guava Juice took a bath in ramen, Colleen Ballinger took a bath in Spaghetti-Os, Good Mythical Morning took a bath in ranch - I could go on... Even if the food _is_ expired, that's just the recommended _store_ shelf life. All of that "expired" food is likely perfectly fine and could be taken to shelters that accept expired food, where it will be used either that day or the next. I'm not usually one to virtue signal, but wasted food is one of the few things that gets my shoulders up. People are literally starving to death and it could _easily_ be fixed.

@@greghelmans9503 you’ll know by using three of your five senses. smell, taste and sight. the reason why there’s a sell by date is because most people don’t use their groceries as soon as they buy them. they usually sit for a few days, sometimes even longer. so it’s best to sell it as quickly as possible. that does not mean food bought after a sell by date is bad by any means unless it’s been an unreasonable amount of time. i’m not saying completely ignore an expiration / sell by date, but don’t doubt your capabilities as a living being. most beings are very much able to tell if something is inedible or going bad. unless there’s something to prohibit that, it’s all down to intellect. it’s sad that most people don’t understand food and furthermore, consumerism.

Australia has an expiry date and best by date. The expiry date tells when the food will likely spoil or go bad. A best by date explains when the date the food will be good by. That can help me understand sometimes too.

In Germany, the name of these dates is "Mindesthaltbarkeitsdatum". This means it's "good at least !!!! Until that Day". At least !!! It's not: " Deadly after this day"

Now that I'm thinking about it, would be wholesome if those stores just took those just-expired-still-safe food and donated them (under proper warning about their dates) to cook meals for people in need

i just want to clarify that world hunger is not caused by a scarcity or lack of food. there is more than enough food in the world for everybody. the problem is that we live in an economic system that keeps vital resources from people who don't have enough special paper or points in their bank accounts.

It’s a waste cycle, they waste food for money (Tiktok money they earn from these videos) then, they waste the money they made on food to waste again in these videos so they’re basically wasting more and more money and the cycle goes on

right now im 11 and i love watching ur videos and this one meant smth to me because rn im getting kicked out of a hotel i live in so we r trying to afford our new house and i have eight siblings so it is very hard to afford food yet we still help homeless people when we dont have enough to feed ourselves and the fact they r wasting food is crazy

Food waste literally makes me cry. I had to throw away some leftovers last week because we were traveling for a week and I SOBBED as I scraped food into the garbage. I just cannot fathom the lack of awareness and understanding that contributes to this behavior. The privilege is disgusting and needs to be called out.

It is literally not possible for all of the food that he uses for these videos to be expired. I usually hate when people say they’re kids starving but in this case they really are kids that you could just give that food to instead of wasting it for no reason. @@sugarysweet6695 It IS poor on average. Whole continent of Africa has the same GDP as France. That's 1.2 billion people vs. 67 million. It is the poorest continent by a huge margin. Now you're right that one of the reasons for that is exploitation, but it's not the only reason.

I am from Africa. (Kenya) The gap between the poor and the rich is so huge. So 65% of the population is poor that means they have 0 access to food. The only thing I love about this is the response. Almost every video like this gets a response video where someone makes a huge amount of food with love and care then hands it out to people. Like THANK YOU for sharing how stupid they look wasting all that food then how great yu look while preparing good food for a large amount of people

This hurts to watch especially growing up in a household where u went to sleep with a growling stomach

As someone who has a family that is financially struggling to the point that we don't know if we're even gonna have enough food in the fridge for the rest of the weekend(not to mention for everyone), this sort of hurts to watch.

"Food grocery stores can't sell" DOES NOT mean expired! Grocery stores throw away perfectly good food all the time! At face value, it's better than buying new groceries, but they're still perfectly fine to eat.

Some "expired food" can still be eaten a month or even more afterwards. Like cereal or candy. I know a discount store who sold full sized name brand cereals, candies, and other dry foodstuffs for a dime an item.

This is why at my school we have a peace pantry. Basically, there’s a garden where they grow food and some people donate food and then on a day of the weekend, families who need it drive by and pick up the food.

The thing with expiration dates, is that they only serve as a guideline as to how long the manufacturer can guarantee the freshness of the product, so while what dude uses is technically expired, it doesn't necessarily make it unsafe for consumption. I once had milk in my fridge for over a month past the date on the best before date and it was still perfectly fine. If the product hasn't changed in any way taste, colour,smell or consistency, then you can still use it/eat it and be totally fine

Not only is he wasting food, but he's making a huge sticky mess in the process. Why waste your time and money like that?

There's this place called Joshua Tree and my mom goes there once a week to get food. There's always pretty expired food there that's just on the brink of "not okay" to eat and so many people would appreciate this food they waste. Hell I would appreciate it. I'm 15 and has learned to appreciate food yet these 18+ year old's can't? They're privileged. Just yeet the whole damn app. It's ruining lives.

How about you leave that poor country and move to a more developed one, USA/CA?

I saw some heartbreaking footage of children in a third world country eating from the landfill. The food was rotten and another child told them to stop because it was rotten but the first child argued that they were too hungry. Seeing videos such as these makes me think about those children and how happy they would be to eat this “expired food”.
