@@KhoaShark Facebook and Twitter will gladly hand over user data to anyone for a (relatively) small fee. There’s little data collected by TikTok that can’t already be easily gathered from any other social media platform.

“We don’t want the data to access the Chinese party” then pass a law like the EU has called the GDPR. This makes it where all PII (personal identification information) HAS to be accessed and stored within EU borders. Like, I haven’t heard a single person mention this at all, it’s rediculous.

Shut it down! Along with the rest of the crap people put in front of real world events. It’s a disgrace in a lot of ways, especially young people who use it wrong.

Honestly, the only reason most people care about tiktok being banned is because these "content creators" have become complacent with the idea of actually working/gaining education & would rather depend on an app that can go away at anytime. Nothing is forever & if these "content creators" were smart, they would've been using tiktok as a stepping stone to get other streams of revenue & make an exit. Yes, it's an easy source of income for some, but we managed just fine before tiktok. Who knows, maybe now businesses will be able to fully staff places if tiktok goes away. No more days of "why work or why go to school when I can tiktok for money."

The majority of people use these apps as safety nets to avoid the real world, like going to work a day in a real job or furthering education.

I can tell you before i was on tiktok i was an undiagnosed autistic/adhd in severe burnout. You probably have no clue what that actually means, its a big deal. I have found a huge community that are the same. That is just one and the major life changing things and also interests i enjoy. Did you know neurodivergent people produce less dopamine? Even tho social media scrolling is shamed, it helps us regulate. Are you on facebook? I hope they shut that craphole down. I'm pretty confident you haven't been a active member on tiktok.
