Great video. Some of your groups were outstanding even for 50 yards. The funny thing was when you were shooting SK LR Match I was thinking exactly what you said in the video when you shot that flyer at six o'clock. You put out a lot of good information showing that some ammo works better than others in your rifle of course. But I think generally speaking, CCI standard velocity may not be a good choice for competitive shooting.

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment, “some ammo works better than others in your rifle”. My T1X absolutely hates the CCI SV. It only manages 1.5-2.5 inch groups at 100 yds. But I have seen the CCI SV shoot so well in other rifles that every once in awhile I’ll pick up a box (different lot #) just to give it a try. Now my 10/22 with its Tac-Sol barrel and KIDD trigger simply loves the CCI SV and if I do my part it will put them into 1 inch clusters at 100 yds all day long. As for my T1X, it will throw SK Rifle Match into little 3/4 inch clusters (sometimes better) almost any day at that distance.

All looked good but that Eley Contact really did well. You & Boomstick have the right equipment with the Tikka/Arkon combo & good ammo. Thanks for sharing. 🎯🐿

I really like the Arken scopes that I have. They are very heavy though. Good for the bench but , not for three mile hunts. I have a more appropriate Leupold back on it now. Should be in a squirrel video soon.

I have some food for thought for future tests. If your goal is to actually find out which ammo shoots best out of your gun, you need to shoot fouling rounds in between the tests. You really should shoot at least 10 rounds of the test ammo before counting groups, so the barrel gets "seasoned" by the lubricant. I just bought a CZ 457 Pro Varmint, and I conducted an ammo test myself the other day. My test went like this... I pull a bore snake (with the brush removed) through the barrel, then I shoot 20 fouling rounds followed by six 5 - shot groups. After that, I remove my suppressor, pull the bore snake again, reinstall the suppressor, and repeat the test. When calculating the average group size, I use the best 5 out of 6 groups. Shooting 6 groups is a much better sample size, and counting 5 of them lets you eliminate one group where you may have jerked or the wind caught a round. You can skip the bore snake if you wish, but the foulers are a must. While shooting the foulers, I often notice the groups start tightening up somewhere between the 5th and 10th shot. You end up shooting a lot more rounds testing this way, but it's one test and done, and you know what works and what doesn't. Just thought I would mention that. Nice video and format...

I like most everything you said except the bore-snake. I now avoid these tools because the string puller can break and really jam up your barrel. I also don’t like the fact that i am pulling a dirty snake through the bore and if you are like me you could pull it off center. Thx.

Great video, thx! my Savage MarK II FVSR likes eley contact and eley Club. also does just as good with SK RM and SK LRM. 0.2-0.5 all day long. to be fair though, my savage isn't quite stock, i've glass bedded it, polished the bolt and modded the trigger to 17 ounces. cheers

All three came in a kit from Arken optics. Thanks for the advice on RWS, I do plan to purchase some in the near future.

I have a 22 Sako Finfire. It likes Eley high velocity hollow point best but hates Eley subsonic HP. Also likes CCI Blazer but hates CCI Segmented and minimag.

Found the Eley Match the best, 623 on completion targets

Why the verticals stringing. The rifle is very accurate, however could the stringing be from the action screws torque? Across the different ammo, it seems the stringing is prevalent? Great video.

Yes-Something not right with the barrel or it’s chamber? Although very small groups, the horizontal & vertical stringing is way too pervasive? Could be a minor fix thus making this Tikka a super match performer.

Hey, use fishing reel grease on the bolt.

I think you need to adjust action screw to 4 Nm. And remove barrel "bedding".

None of this ammo will outshoot center x the next best thing is that sk standard plus these two ammos is what I shoot in all my cz target rifles. I have never found any kind of eley ammo that will shoot in any of my czs. Beagleman
