massive stretch there bud 😂💀 first of all it’s a kids movie….there is no infatuation 🤦‍♂️ secondly, the only time something more than friendship was even hinted at was during the second film when they started getting closer to each other….the writers realized it wasn’t what they wanted, and competently backed off of that plot in the third film and in the fourth film coming out next year….tigress literally won’t even be in the movie PO really just loves kung fu, also no surprise that out of the furious 5, tigress is the best in terms of almost everything, that’s why he seems more “infatuated” with her when in reality it’s just platonic admiration this is coming from someone that wants them together so i’m not even biased, just honest

I likje to think Po knows what romance is what what it's supposed to feel like, but has no understanding of Hints. He only knows how to treat Tigress as awesome, and Tigress only knows how to treat Po as fascinating, but they can't make that link

​@@insertnamehere6434 I remember 2 things about it. 1, the original production team actually named the stone that hits Po's head when Tigress does the split in the first movie as "The love chunk". 2, a while back DreamWorks published a post about having a "crush" using that same scene. Also I remember an interview in which Guillermo del Toro confirms Po and Tigress' interactions in Kung Fu Panda 2 as hints of romance and another in which Angelina Jolie comments something about Po and Tigress, I don't remember it quite right, but she was hoping to see them together at the end. The sauces will be hard to find, they are very old interviews, some websites have stopped working.

If you ask me, Monkey, Crane and Mantis were the ones who were being mean constantly making fun of his size (Shifu too)

I also love how Crane is the one who carries Po, because everyone else in the Five is agile enough to keep up(except maybe Mantis, but there's always Monkey since their buddies), and also him carrying Po around may have annoyed him at first but grew to see it as training his limits

So I recently saw in a Facebook post that the current co-director of the Kung Fu Panda movies said that she supported fans who shipped Po and Tigress, and in the original script for KFP3, it would've been shown that Tigress was indeed in love with Po. However, the idea was scrapped, BUT, this ship being canon isn't as far-fetched at it sounds, since we know DreamWorks has couples that are interspecies. It's all good. Ever since the 2nd I was anticipating TiPo, but I heard the studio got more involved with 3 that's why it felt a bit different compared to the first two. It was supposed to be much darker with Mr. Ping dying, Kai killing Po, and Po&Ti being confirmed. But the franchise ain't over just yet.

@OJorEm Yeah, Mr. Ping's dying could have been revised with him instead of being on the brink of death with no one knowing if he'll pull through or not. Po would still be majorly affected by this Li Shan would try to step up as his dad but have difficulty, and Tigress would feel guilty and attempt to make it up to Po by helping him in any way she could think of. Like accompanying him to the panda village and helping them train and prepare.

Fun Fact: In KFP3 they originally were going to do something like that but the studio interfered with production. They tampered with a lot of details actually which is why 3 is considered the weakest in the original trilogy.

Personally, I love that their relationship is displayed in a way where you can interpret it either as romantic or best bros, and that's just neat. I still don't know what my stance is. They'll do something super goofy and sibling-esque, then 20 minutes later they do something super deep, intimate, and vulnerable, and like... I... _don't know how to feel._ Such good writing. These movies still make me cry. Possibly harder, because I've been through so much more since I first watched them.

The fact that tigress and the furious 5 played such a huge role in Po’s character development in all the movies, and the Kung Fu Panda 4 director just throws that out the window 💀

Not really, they're just not in that one. I actually kinda appreciate them accepting they didn't have anything for them in that story over just forcing them in as jobbers or breaking their characters just to make them fit like some episodes of the TV show done. Plus the fourth movie was supposedly the start of the 'master' trilogy, ie. Po helping someone else's character development like the Furious Five did him, so it figures they would focus more on Po's student.

@@e-122psi3 Nobody ever needed someone stupid random fox in the franchise and ESPECIALLY not this stupid random fix stealing the title of Dragon Warrior from Po, especially when there are so many interesting things that could be explored with EXISTING characters. For example, I would KILL for the movie where Shifu finally gets called out for being a total abusive jerk towards Tigress practically her entire life and has a "come to Jezus" moment, realizing what he did and apologizes to her and tells her how much he loves her and appreciates her as his daughter, maybe similar to Fa Zhu in Disnay's Mulan (original of course).

The audacity of dreamworks not including tigress in kung fu panda 4

not the "it's canon, BYE." I'm squealing

Tigress had a great character development in the saga, and I loved it.

The people downplaying this ship by saying it was never meant to be romantic or that they're just siblings have never either understood what the series was building up for them, nor done their research to make such claim. This ship *WAS* real, so real in fact that DreamWorks had to retcon it in fear of what it could've done for Po and Tigress as *marketable* characters. You wanna know why the Kung Fu Panda 3 feels so half baked when compared to 1 and 2? That is because they took out half the story, out of it. Originally the intent, pre-rewrite, of Kung Fu Panda 3 was for it to be more akin to KF2 in both tone and writing, and surprisingly more TiPo centered as Tigress would've been instructed to attend the Panda Village alongside Po and his Fathers. There exist concept art of Tigress training and getting along with Pandas, alongside a concept art in which Po would be the one to carry her up the mountain to the Panda Village after her fight with Kai; Romance was also a big thing seemingly considering they were going off their way not to just make Po and Tigress more obvious, Mei Mei was supposedly gonna have an arranged marriage with Po, something that not only better justifies her presence in the story than the final product did, it was gonna have a HUGE pay-off for Tigress and Po due to a cut concept art I'll get in a bit. Considering that Kung Fu Panda 3's overall themeing was about "Family", to me with this narrative and the task Tigress was given to follow Po and bond with the Pandas it would only make sense that in tandem if Po's story about rediscovering his family, Tigress ORIGINAL character arc would've been introducing her the idea of ever wanting to settle down with Po someday, possibly have a family, something that sound outrageous but that I theorize HAS TO be the case due to that Baby Panda or 'Ray's Baby' existing in the story and being hyper-fixated on Tigress for no reason, with no pay-off that we know of. And think about it, it would make sense narratively to give Tigress that sort of introspection in a peaceful place like the Panda Village where everyone behaves like family, and where she can let those feelings sink in peace, meanwhile growing fond of Pandas at the same time! It's a stretch and a pretty speculative one, but it makes sense the roles of both Mei Mei and that Baby Panda contextually in the story had that been the case, as it makes them more than just quick gags with no pay-off but rather something more meaningful for Tigress, and in the long run Po; After all, there was a cut concept art piece in which Mei Mei insists giving Tigress a dress to 'impress Po' after she witness how worried Po was for Tigress post-Kai's encounter (Which was gonna be more brutal). We were RIGHT THERE regarding TiPo being canon and happening in Kung Fu Panda 3, but mothers that watched the second one thought it was too violent, and that the villain was to scary for their children to watch and complained to DreamWorks, and in the end we got a salvaged safe script that repurposed the 'clean' concepts of the original story that not only butchered Kai's performance as a villain, but also created creative disputes between Jennifer Yu Nelson and DreamWorks that led to, you guessed it, no TiPo because DreamWorks didn't feel like losing audience with a script that risky that could've severely changed (progressed) the personalities of their characters; And in my opinion damaged the franchise in the long run I'll always say that Kung Fu Panda's story is just as much Tigress' story as it is Po's. Sure, Po was the central lead protagonist, but Tigress' to me always felt like the secondary protagonist, the one that balanced out the story yet complimented Po's journey to Kung Fu same way their personalities counter yet work together in harmony. I mean just let the fact that Po began his journey to Kung Fu out of a puppy crush to speak for itself! Tigress is a essential part of not just Po's story but also the franchise; Without her judgment of her friends the other Furious wouldn't have even had a chance to train with Shifu, and it is thanks to her that when he's been on his emotional lowest Po has been able to find encouragement to get back on his feet! By retconing not just the ship but making her take a back seat entirely in the story THEY LOST HALF THE INTENDED NARRATIVE, and Kung Fu Panda 3 and the state of the franchise, ESPECIALLY KUNG FU PANDA 4 show what corporate decisions like that do to not just a character but the direction of a whole franchise under hands that don't care about dynamic, lore nor fidelity and instead ride on trends and brand recognition. From the second movie, and even the secrets shorts it is clear that her role in the story is more than to be the badass of the group, and yet I feel that is what DreamWorks WANTS TO SELL about her character; And that is unfair because not only did they butchered the former course of the original 6 books, ruined a movie and made another one with less soul, you avoided the natural progression to maturity of two characters just so you can have them be stoic yet marketable: A character that looks cool, and one that is quirky. Sigh. Nobody can ever tell me DreamWorks never had the idea on their heads, the concepts of KP3 and 'The Love Chunk' exist for a reason, and you could never tell me their original character direction wasn't a THOUSAND-TIMES more poetic and meaningful, especially for Tigress that now had a fan who was constantly giving her the support she always sought, with Po; And likewise Po had the friendship and possible admiration if his Kung Fu idol. But of course, brand recognition and selling point was more important than character development.

Absolute Kudos dude 👏. That was wonderfully informative and beautiful. I've always felt like something was off with the entire 3rd movie even back 8 years ago when I was a teen. Starting with TiPo, I, and a bunch of people were expecting more development from Po and Tigress. Ever since the 2nd overdrived their relationship, people were expecting some significant progression between them, it felt like it was heading that way too. And the series LOA further accentuated and capitalized on the concept by filling the series with a myriad of "Ship Tease" moments. The actors, particularly Jolie favored the ship. GUILLERMO Del Toro, who was a creative consultant for 2, really advocated for them to get together, openly admitting this in an interview. Love how you referenced "The Love Chunk" detail of *2008* 😮. They had the perfect setup and fumbled it so badly that I'm still irked even today. And I know people who worked on the original films were a bit disappointed with how the 3rd ended up, not just for TiPo but the entirety of the film. From the childish tone to the rushed narrative. Did anyone know that Mr. Ping was originally going to DIE protecting Po? Li Shan was going to be more closed off and warrior-like as he was depicted at the end of 2 due to what happened with Shen. Po would have been utterly demolished by Kai during their final battle and would have pummeled him so badly that he couldn't even get up. Then afterward, straight up kills him and sends him to the spirit realm. Kai himself would've been a lot more terrifying, with his comedic demeanor being practically non-existent and him feeling more like an unstoppable unkillable force of nature. Even J.K. Simmons admitted that Kai was initially going to be much more violent and brutal. Many fans to this day all agree that KFP3 had so much wasted potential and could've been better. Man, why did DreamWorks even feel the need to interfere, I mean were they blind to the success of the first 2? Let your artists cook properly without corporate sauce put in. They didn't just fumble a bag. They fumbled an entire container truck. And after how badly they botched KFP4 (very turbulent BTS production) I think they need to seriously take a step back and take a little break before even attempting to push further with this franchise because the fandom deserves better. @@WisenedMan Thank you so much for your just as informative response! 👏 I'll say I was well aware of some of these details, minus the absurdly feral and unhinged demeanour Kai was supposed to have; I knew he was supposed to be more of a monster in the original draft of the story, but I think I never dug as deep to know to much extent. Being Oowey's brother in arms and also his equal it makes ABSOLUTE SENSE he'd be that much if a beast against Po! That was something that annoyed me of the final script, the fact Po was in the ranks of presumably Oowey at such a young age and that quick. I know he's a fast learner, but it felt like not only did he won against Kai by sheer luck, he climbed that ladder too fast. This you're telling me makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE! As someone who loves and yearns for classic movie villains, knowing this depresses me almost as much as the complete discard of TiPo from the story 😿. Not only is it a shame that we lost this but it makes The Chameleon that much more if a joke by comparison, for a KFP villain. But of course, it's no surprising understanding why this got discarded since it ties into former topic and subject matter. With this in mind is easy to understand why Tigress was planned to lose an eye against Kai before Po carried her up the mountain to the Panda village; He was a whole other beast! Sadly this was the breaking point between DreamWorks' executives and their creative team. Understanding that one of their most beloved and profitable characters of the franchise was gonna lose an eye made them do an one-eighty in the whole course of the movie and listen to parental complaints so they didn't lose money. *THIS IS WHY THEY INTERVINE AND RETCON ALMOST EVERYTHING TO DO WITH DRASTIC CHANGES TOWARDS CHARACTERS, ESTABLISHED DYNAMIC, AND BRAND RECOGNITION* , they felt the creative team went too far where the toys market wouldn't make them any profit IF fan favorite characters suddenly had drastic changes such as an eye loss. A simple answer and one old as time: *MONEY* . You don't have to be a genius to understand how this formula broke on itself. Meanwhile the script was an ensured fan-favorite masterpiece, executives don't feast off promises and audience praise BUT the money they can make off a brand and it's marketability. You know why movies past few years have felt not much like break-through cinema but rather a glorified advertising in the shape of a hour and a half spectacle? Well, basically this whole reason. People know movies don't make profit for a brand, THE BRAND makes the profit for the company; It is what gives them the most return. So what do you do when a bunch of parents complain your movie is potentially scaring your main source of income (kids) off a franchise, yet your creative team is making another one that is way worse? You do the math, you get Kung Fu Panda 3 and 4 as a result of corporate meddling; Safer products that took away the depth of first installment by favouring the humor and marketability of the character's base personalities, that serve nothing but baby sit your child without much thought afterwards. Oof. It is no wonder why the franchise has been in decline after 3; It wasn't just the omission of TiPo what hurted it but the fact that they made it comedy driven ALONE, and hoped the villain-of-the-week could justify/save following installments. Allow me to say it right now, Kung Fu Panda was yes a comedy BUT in an otherwise dark franchise, Shen and Tai Lung WEREN'T written with comedy in mind although they could have goofy interactions with Po; once again, *WHEN YOU TAKE A CONCEPT OFF THE NARRATIVE YOU LOSE HALF THE NARRATIVE* . It sucks I have to point that out, even more so that I say it like DreamWorks is gonna care when they won't. For as better as it sounds in concept, nothing has ensured them it'd sell more than what KF4 already did, surpassing 1 and 2. My soul feels unmeasurable pain understanding KFP5 AND 6 will be in that same vain, and nothing can soothe knowing that. Specially as bad if not more, I'll forever be seething that we could've had a more down to earth Po and a more carefree Tigress was the ship real and allowed them to progressively grow alongside their relationship. HECK, HAVING PO WANT TO SETTLE DOWN COULD'VE BEEN THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO PASS DOWN HIS TITLE AND CHOOSE TO BECOME A SPIRITUAL GUIDE!! But nope. The executives didn't care for this to happen, and by extension it'll never will because right now we're kind of a transitional era in which Hollywood understands newer generations are disappointed about love so less and less we hear about strong female characters in media getting into a relationship; Bet you butt this is why TiPo won't happen for at least a long time, if ever. If they can't sell that then is best not to do that. *Deep sigh* P.S. Your welcome, and sorry if it seems like I took your hopes away after having confirm it. Don't want to be mean! Just like you I yearn for them to get together and for the movies to follow their initial course! Is just that I can't help being a bit of a realist, too 😅

These words encapsulate how I feel about this whole situation cause knowing all this and thinking about how things could have turned out sucks. Like you, I just have no words to describe the sheer disappointment I feel about it all. It's sad to know that even KFP wasn't immune to the current Hollywood model. 😑😒😮‍💨 But on a more positive note, it's at least comforting to know that it was REAL, you know and that people weren't just imagining it and wasting their time on something that was NEVER happening cuz it was. It was. 😞 Sidenote- Did you know that after the 3rd release, I straight up gave up on KFP for a while not watching or even entertaining the idea of new content like PAWS OF DESTINY? That's how down I felt. But then rumors about 4 started circulating online and that rekindled some hope about the franchise so I began absorbing any new content like POD & the recent Netflix series Dragon Knights just to get back into it and prepare for 4. Then 4 happened and...well. 😞 😓 😩

@@WisenedMan I feel you in all your words, and the blessing-as-a-curse feeling that is understanding we could've had it but never will. Though in my honest opinion, much like you, I choose to view it as a blessing. Knowing that was the original narrative is not only fulfilling but the fact that it was THERE to begin with, that on itself is reassuring because what was originally planned does tell a beautiful tale for both of these characters; It may be an empty victory but it doesn't needs to feel like that if you understood the narrative and rooted for these characters. Is bittersweet, sure, but goes to show against all doubts that this ship COULD'VE WORK in proper hands, and that under proper hands were working without being intrusive to everything else in the story, until not allowed to further tell that story anymore. We may have lost it but... With this knowledge, we necessarily didn't. That narrative still exist even if it died as a draft, but still... That WAS the original story. My canon will always be KFP 1, 2, that Christmas special and all the Secrets Shorts, alongside that KFP3 draft; Those to me ARE the once original 6 books. It shouldn't be surprising you fell off the franchise after KFP3, in fact it felt like as a whole the franchise died and fell off itself once the new course of the series was established, because it actually did and KFP4 proves that now they don't know what to do with it given they retired Po at his prime meanwhile having the audacity to tease a Furious Five solo spin-off. Not content with taking the Furious Five away from Po, they took Po away the Furious Five... Best case scenario the fan backlash makes DreamWorks pull a Shrek 4 like when Shrek the Third was poorly receive, with KFP 5 and 6, though is wishful thinking; And even if that doesn't happens, rejoice on knowing the truth, homie. Maybe we won't get what we wanted, but they tried and in early instalments retroactively you could tell that was kind of the aim of it. Like you say, at least it didn't end up being wishful thinking.

Just randomly found this masterpiece. What makes things interesting is the fact that I believe Viper has a crush on Po. In the first movie she apologised after she beat him up. In the second movie she was in that barrel with Po, I wonder what she was looking at... Also in the third movie, Shifu says that he heard Po did a terrible job at teaching from all the Furious Five, BUT Viper! Could you do a video on Po and Viper Please?

You kinda forgot that particular scene in the "secret of the scroll" where po first encounter tigress in their teenage years. She was beating the crap of some huge thug and his pupils turned into hearts. Although they never had any interaction, po already knew who she was!

Thank you for this video, I really needed it after disaster that recent disaster, which doesn't deserve to be called Kung Fu Panda 4. Po's bond with Tigress is so iconic, and honestly I think that both of them having feelings for one another is bascly canon. One scene I would also add is Po's death glere he gives Shen right after checking on Tigress and holding her paw.

@@SeaChickenEdits I have no issue with people enjoying KFP4, but I also think this shouldn't impact my ability to speak my mind. Honestly, as a person who isn't a kid anymore, I feel bit disappointed that "agree to disagree" is such an unpopular phrase nowadays, and that some people treat it so seriously, on one hand I do get it, since KFP franchise (except Netflix stuff and KFP4 and it's possible sequels, this movie no joke killed any interest in the frenchise I used to have) means a lot to me (especially KFP2), but on the other, it's just an animated movie and once you will switch off your computer a person you were trying arguing against isn't even there to argue anymore. So to me clue is to just let other people voice their opinions freely, only comment if you see something wrong about it, and not be a total jerk about it

Look at the pinned comment for "Po being Tigress's favorite" version I already made before commenting scenes that I "missed." It might be in there. Also, I had to scrub through three full length movies for this so if I overlooked anything, that's why.

And in the series, the Tigress was in love with Poe and was rejected...💔I hope this series is not recognized as canon and there is a chance that they will become a couple.
