"Tiger JK", born in 1974, is a Korean-American, a graduate of Beverly Hills High School, and is a great hip-hop guy in Korea. His wife (Yoonmirae) is also at the top of the Korean hip-hop scene. If you ask Koreans who is the best female rapper, everyone will say "Yoonmirae".

JK is the man. Been a huge fan since '99, met him in 2017. Did some music with former DT member DJ Shine as well. Real legends. Not just in K-hip hop but in hip-hop.

The first song was from the rerelease of his first album. His new record label told him that he needed a song in Korean and also a love song. The very last song on this killing verse filled the love song requirement, and this one was the one for the Korean requirement. It is called "Do You Know Hip Hop?", where the title was taking a shot at the executives making the requirement. Yeah, both Tiger JK and Yoon Mi Rae can really spit raps when they want to. He was originally part of a duo called Drunken Tiger that started out with him and DJ Shine. Eventually, they would part ways and Bizzy would replace DJ Shine as his DJ and rap partner. He would eventually retire the name Drunken Tiger since his son didn't like the word Drunken. 8:45 Heaven is a song about the death of his grandmother. It is such a powerful song. The MV had a budget of $700 but really works for what it is trying to do. That was followed by Monster which is probably one of his most popular songs and always a great version to see the live version. One of my favorite versions was at the Dream Concert with Le, Suga, RM, and Baro. Another fun version was when MFBTY teamed up with Lee Hyori to sing songs from both her and MFBTY and includes Lee Hyori rapping on Monster. The English version of Monster features Yoon Mi Rae's rap verse along with some American rappers. You might notice that Monster was off the album Feel Ghood Muzik, which would become the name of his second label. Feel Ghood Muzik was the album that did the best for him, but he didn't know it at the time because he saw no money coming in, because the people he trusted to help him run the label were forging his name to steal every cent they could. He would eventually find himself homeless and his label sold out from under him to a giant corporation that could fight his attempts to get it back. To make ends meet, they formed MFBTY with his wife and Bizzy. If you are curious, the name means "My fans are better than yours", though that name is certainly not to be taken seriously. While touring under that name, he met a fan that was a rapper himself, from an up-and-coming idol group. That would be RM and would on to feature him on BuckuBucku. Around the same time, he also made a cameo in the MV for their song Bang Diggy Bang Bang, which is a fun song that you didn't hear here. They made promises to collab again, but then BTS blew up so Tiger figured that wouldn't happen. When working on Drunken Tiger X, the final Drunken Tiger album, RM contacted him and asked when they would work together again and RM was featured on the song Timeless. RM changed Tiger JK's mind on idol rappers. Tiger JK's life has been pretty crazy. If you have the time, I suggest checking out when he appeared on the Daebak Show. It is a long video, at over an hour and a half long, but I think it is worth it. That was filmed while he was promoting his song last year called Love Peace, which is certainly worth a listen.

I really enjoyed this entire performance and for sure plan on checking out more from him. From what i could gather and what you say here, i agree that is a pretty interesting timeline of life/career... but things liek that make a better musician and cool person to work with because he knows how it is when times are rough. I like when ppl work with other quality people, when someone works with a lot of ppl it goes to show they must be cool to work with and respected in the community. I like a few Lee Hyori songs, i was introduced to her by the Refund Sisters song. It is shitty when ppl you trust and work with screw you over, especially if ytou are a good intentioned person that is getting taken advantage of.. but i assume thats one of the main reason to have a smaller label now, might not have the same earnings potential but you can work with trustworthy people and if you focus on quality, everyone can afford to live great lives all in all, ive liked everything ive heard from anyone even remotely associatied with tiger jk, yoon mi rae, bibi, lee hi and so forth. its one of the best feelings as a music fan to continuously be impressed with a group of new (to us) artists like this

Long-time subscriber, first-time commenter. Could not just pass by a Tiger JK reaction. Btw, love your channel and love that you react to household names like IU, Lee Hi, Bol4, AKMU, etc. in addition to the idol groups, who are of course beloved in Korea as well but unfortunately have a shorter lifespan in the music industry (eg, the "7-year girl group curse"). Drunken Tiger inspired many of the rappers active in Korea today, along with other "hiphop grandfathers" from the late 90s/early 00s like Dynamic Duo, Epik High, etc. Even though hiphop groups like Seo Taiji & Boys existed in the early 90s, from which came Yang Hyun Suk, the founder and CEO of YG Entertainment (he was one of the so-called "boys" back then lol), the late 90s/early 00s were the golden age of hiphop in Korea in my opinion. Entertainment companies were competing to form larger hiphop groups like YG Family (which included legends like JinuSean, Teddy from 1TYM who now produces all of BlackPink's songs, and a 13-year-old G-Dragon who later became a member of Big Bang), Uptown (which included Yoon Mirae, and later Jessi when she was just a teenager), Bros (with Bobby Kim, another legend from the 90s), etc. Jessi, who is now considered one of the best female rappers in Korea, used to idolize Yoon Mirae and was heavily influenced by her. Most male rappers today would still choose Drunken Tiger and Dynamic Duo as the rappers that they idolize the most in Korea. Check out this awesome clip of Yoon Mirae (Tasha) and Annie in 1999 when they were Tashannie (unfortunately they are lip syncing but this was the norm back then). They are performing their song "Caution", one of my favorites. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqxtsLh8l9TdYrQ.html Also, since you guys love Lee Hi, here is her extremely cute initial audition for KpopStar at age 14 (Korean age 16), where JYP and YG make fun of her dancing lol. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5qT1sWum6m-otY.html

First off, I wanna say real quick that you guys are slacking on IU reactions and I'm not happy about it.😠 Please continue. On to the topic at hand... I'm glad you guys are getting into hip-hop side of things now. I think you guys should do yourselves a favor and just go thru and react to all the best killing verses. I think you will be surprised at just how many insanely good rappers the khip-hop scene has. I personally recommend to start off: Bewhy, Simon Dominic, JUSTHIS, Zico, Mino, Swervy, SuperBee, Nucksal, & last but not least... Meenoi. Pretty sure you guys will love Meenoi. You should check out her KZread show Meenoi's Yorizori. You'll love it! I swear.

Lol I think all we have left is a few special clips from IU and that will be all the MVs, then onto live performances. And we are going to try and be more consistent with dingo performances to get caught up
