TIG Welding X-Ray Quality ROOT Pass!

Ғылым және технология

TIG Welding X-Ray Quality ROOT Pass!
Welds in the 6G position requires a profound comprehension of welding fundamentals, coupled with the ability to execute precise techniques under demanding conditions.
The 6G position, revered as the ultimate test of a welder's skill, presents a unique set of challenges that elevate the art of welding to new heights. Positioned at a 45-degree angle, with the pipe remaining stationary while the welder maneuvers around it, the 6G position demands mastery of technique, unwavering focus, and an acute understanding of metallurgy.
The heart of welding mastery lies in technique, particularly when it comes to executing consistent root and cap welds in the 6G position. The root pass, laying the foundation for the weld, demands impeccable control of the torch angle, travel speed, and filler rod manipulation to penetrate the joint effectively. Conversely, the cap pass, the final layer of the weld, requires finesse and dexterity to produce flawless reinforcement without undercutting or excessive build-up.
None of these videos are recorded in a fancy shop surrounded by sponsorship banners!
My videos are recorded at working sites in various locations and welding positions.
90% of my welding projects in videos are x-rayed, and if you like to see hands-on projects, welcome!

    That’s the most perfect fucking tig root I’ve ever seen my guy! Currently practicing for my pipe cert in May and I’m watching a lot of your videos pretty much everyday! Quick question. So, I’ve been freehanding all my passes but I’d like to have a more consistent pattern so I’m learning to walk the cup. If you’re walking the cup on a cap, do you tend to hold the torch upside-down or by its handle? Thanks again for the sick tutorial!

    When your purging stainless people say to vent the end for the final tie in what if you can’t vent the end of the pipe for final tie in on root

  • @sugerbear6544

    @sugerbear6544

    3 ай бұрын

    Should always vent, argons heavier than air. On spools vent anywhere possible on fittings or turn down flowrate for tie in, never easy for site work.

    This is where you’ll see ‘Needle Purging’ on the final weld of a piping system. This is done with ice dams either side of the joint and the weld area is back purged with a hypodermic needle. Just before you close the weld, the needle is pulled out and the root is quickly sealed. It will still likely leave a pin-prick sized area of oxidation in the root but this may be acceptable depending on acceptance criteria
