Yes I would. It's hard to think of another car to replace it except another Porsche. I got mine 3 months ago and no regrets at all.

I'm considering buying a Porsche Boxster 2,5 two doors from 1997, so I lokked this up.. What stunned me in this clip is, if I got it right, that the price then is excactly the same price in Denmark 11 years later! I've really had it with these dansih prices!

@phantomloita it's good enough for starters , younger people etc ...and it's not as expensive to maintain it. For those not having the means to buy a new one , the 2.5i is a very attractive porsche. In some countries , like here in Belgium fe, it's pretty expensive to go above 2.5i or above the 211bhp..that's why the newer 2.9's are still sold with 211bhp if wanted

course it adopts a mid engined layout similar to the layout in most modern racing cars which means that unlike the BMW M3 has a much better chassis and allows average drives to get the most out of the car on the road or track.

you can pick one of these up for £6000 now with 70,000 on the clock. Probably the best priced 2 seater for a budget

oh yes it was 'top gear' , also the vhs-tapes were called so , with subtitles like : super cars , fast & furious and some others , but it were 'topgear'-series ;-)

when you compare the "poor man's porsche" to like anything else, the Porsche always win. Fact.

Depends on the year and engine. I've pulled a 5.1 in my 2006 Boxster S - and that's with the older 3.2 engine. The newer 3.4 engine is a little bit faster too.

@scomatsho hehe very true! As a carlover i love the boxster , whatever engine is in it. Hell i fe. even klike the miata..also called a chick car . That said, most of the people i know with porsche's , ferrarri's , lambo's , aston's etc do have good respect for these boxsters ;-) I've driven many fast cars and have many rich clients , but they all say the same thing..it's the driver which makes it a tool for fun or a tool to be seen in..they show respect for all cars and carlovers

Porsche is now the most successful car manufacture in the world and has just bought VW, which currently owns AUDI, BENTLEY, Lamborghini and Bugatti. This thankfully was largely due to the discontinuation of the previous models 944/968/928/993 and the production of the Porsche Boxster (as seen in this clip) and the Porsche 996. Porsche decided to share components across its 2 car

Not really, e.g. every 2.5 and early 2.7 & 3.2 engines have robust 2-row IMS bearing, in later cars there are 1 row bearings, which are no more so robust. RMS is problem in almost every 986 but it is not a big mulfunction, you still can drive with it, any other problems aren't so common.

"Get A Life" by Ian Anderson. Fun fact: the song has nostalgic value for a lot of Dutch people, because it was the theme tune of the anti-piracy warning played on almost every VHS and DVD sold in the Netherlands throughout the 90s and early 2000s.

err - try 5.0 seconds for the S as oficially listed by Porsche - which means that many people can pull sub 5 seconds 0-60 MPH easily

i owned a boxster for 2 years they're nice cars to drive full stop!! and yes i've had all the "poor mans porsche,hair dressers car envy bull,what i say to that:-"live your own fucking life and stay out of others"

The Porsche boxster started life as a humble 2.5 litre car costing half the price of the bigger brother 911. The Boxster has evolved into a 3.4 Litre machine with a top speed of 170mph and a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds, of course

This was before the revamp with line up we now know, back then it was Tif and Jeremy. That was TopGear. First of all..i do have 2 911's in my garage ...secondly i do have great respect for the boxster ..like many others in the porsche-club here. Secondly , having a 911 doesn't give you the right to call people who can't afford a 911 'morons , idiots or whatever'. Love Porsches! But it really is amazing how far they have come in 10ish years! For example my mums Audi A4 produces more power and has a higher top speed than this! But still have to take my hat off to them!
